It's funny that Solms uses the notion of "Information" as an argument for physicalism, since a founding assumption of computational cognitive science (Pylyshyn, Fodor etc.) is exactly that what "is" informationally relevant or significant to a system cannot be considered purely physically, since nothing physical is significant in and of itself, but only "for" the system. For this reason, computationalism rests on the assumption of a divide between the physical and the symbolical: what is informationally meaningful for a cognitive system cannot be analysed purely physically.
