- This antique Levin parlor guitar was made in 1908. Who knows what it has been through since then. It's now completely restored (by Roger Häggström at Gammelgura) and ready for another century of making music.
The first tune in the video is "Shine on, harvest moon" which also happens to be from 1908, it was written by Dave Stamper. You can get a free transcription in standard notation here:

Second is a bit of blues in open G tuning and finally you hear the Swedish folk song "Ack Värmeland, du sköna".

Amazing Guitar! Sound pretty as well! Old but very GOLD!
Thanks, I really like the sound of a good parlor guitar.
That first piece was great. It truly paints what it feels like to walk down Chartres St. On a lazy quiet day and there's a slight echo in the street.
Thanks!
Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite videos
I'm glad it is!
Perfect selection, perfect piece of music for this little ol gal... 1908 Levin
Such pristine guitar my great grandfather used to play it for me ahh refreshing
Thanks for watching! Make sure to subscribe if you like what you see.
The guitar and your playing..thank you
Glad you like it!
Beautiful instrument. Looks amazing! Looks almost new even though it’s 111 years old!
this is gold. how are you not more popular
Thanks!
it has such a distinct bright clarity to it and yes "Shine on" is somewhat melancholic but in a beautiful way reminiscent of the old black and white movies of the 1920s to 1950s when the stories were riveting (as there was no technicolor and gimmicks to distract the viewer with so the acting and the story telling had to be top class)....how well you play the guitar as each note rings out so clear...confused whether one should compliment the guitarist or the guitar maker.
Thanks! I'll take some of the credit and give the rest to Herman Carlsson Levin for building the guitar and Roger Häggström restoring it to be better than it likely was when new.
That guitar sounds so sweet
Beautiful!!!!
Thank you!
this is an amazing video, no joke. you’re a really good guitarist bro you deserve so much more...

I'm still working on getting the riff right.
@@AndreasBrink Smoke on the water? I thought it was Jesus on the water...
If you think Jesus walked on water you probably had a smoke too much!
*0-3-5 intesifies*
Andreas Brink he only walked on water because he couldnt swim you know!
fReE bIrD!!!
most excellent
Thank you!
Amazing, this sonority
Show man, i'm from Brazil and never have a see this,
I only know what you mean because I lived in Brazil :)
But I agree, foi mto show mano ;)
I’m sure I made mistakes in my Portuguese too!!
@@Muzikman127 kkk, obrigado pelas informações
Amazing 👏👏👏
Thanks!
ive got a 1945 Model 47 Levin acoustic, Sunburst finish, fantastic condition, the action razor low, no buzzes. complete perfection. original parts..literally feels and sounds amazing. anyone know what itd be worth around in USD?
Very good condition
Me: woah 111, hope it doesn't fall apart ....
Guitar: _hold my age_
Actually it's 112 now and shows no signs of falling apart any time soon.
reminds me of the beatles!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the price (value) of the guitar?
That's a good question. In Sweden Levin guitars are very common (most of course are not this old) so they are cheap compared to, say, a Gibson. Outside of Sweden they usually cost a lot more. I didn't pay very much for this guitar, but of course the restoration wasn't free.
A lot of pre 1940s parlor guitars still go for under $100 in the states
To a real guitar enthusiast. Guitars like this of this age and quality are priceless.
@@recklessjelly1484 where 😂😂😂
Where do you get your hands on a guitar like that?
I bought it at an auction, it was in good shape for it's age but needed a lot of work to be fully usable again.
Bean town
@@afchives6860 Sweet, I'm heading by there next week, so I'll look to see if I can pick one up!
@@AndreasBrink how much that thing costed?
Hi where can i find the tab of this? (shine on , harvest moon) This is so wonderful lol
👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥
just our of curiosity, how much would a guitar like this go for?
Hello bro what string gauge You use?
I use Newtone Heritage .012s. They are really good low tension strings. Old guitars like this are not built for much tension.
Hur kommer knugens födelsedag att uppmärksammas här på din kanal?
Den firas med direktsändning av den traditionella flagghissningen vid ARHK.
How did you get the two recordings to line up? Sounds grwat btw!
Thanks! I simply listen to the first guitar while recording the second, so the sound gets lined up automatically. The camera records sound too which I only use to sync the video to the audio manually.
@@AndreasBrink thats amazing man, thank you so much
Use a metronome buddy
Anyone know the name of that last song?
I guess anyone who reads the video description has a good chance of knowing this.
@@AndreasBrink RIP me. My bad, man
What is song title?
Shine on Harvest Moon
