Welcome to Melbourne! I came here 15 years ago and still haven’t left! I recognise the building as i used to be an estate agent in the city…I guess ur rent is likely a lot more with a shorter lease, apartment is very cosy but better than a studio!!
Molly (and Tom)! I'm so disappointed! I know that the flat was almost fully furnished when you arrived, but we would have loved to send you housewarming presents (perhaps in the way of a "registry" or "wish list" at whichever big box store is nearest to you) rather than have you buy them on your own! Something to think about should you move again! Love your new place and so excited for you both! ❤❤ Also happy 140! 🎉🎉
Arghh so excited for you guys!! The flat looks amazing and I can't wait for your upcoming videos from Melbourne☺️ (Also I thought I was the only one struggling with mixing the hot and cold water glad I'm not the only one who dislikes it😂 And I'm absolutely with Molly - I need a hot/warm shower no matter how warm it is outside 😂)
Without sounding weird, I'm in Melbourne too (from the UK) on a 6 month work contract and I think we might literally be living in the same building 😂 What are the chances!? Been watching you for years
Love this! It was 10 years ago that I went to AUS but I am currently traveling Latin America and have got a flat in Medellin and its soooo nice and sooo much fun to live in a different environment abroad :) ENJOY!! Can't wait to see more xx
My wife is from manchester and we are almost retired and are going to europe via uk so it should be fun as she came as a 10 pound pom58 years ago and has never been back so this should be fun.
I’m with you Molly with the ‘warm showers’ 😂 it can be over 30 degrees outside I’m still going to have a very warm shower! Congrats on the apartment love that view from the balcony 😍 also the little add one you bought for the apartment will you be taking it with you too, especially the side table
I had the same experience in Australia (Sydney) with short-term flat rentals. Me and my friend also ended up renting via airbnb because we were desperate. Definitely not easy finding something in Australia
So happy for you! I was so pleased to move in with my boyfriend for the first time almost a year and a half ago now (time really flies!); also a one bed flat with a gym and pool which has been amazing! Also, your natural hair looks so lovely! ❤️❤️
For a country that is well known for working holiday opportunities it seems so silly to me that landlords are so restrictive with the long term period of tenancy. What is the general consensus for others that do this? Just stay in one place for the whole trip and never travel around?
There is a housing shortage throughout Australia. Melbourne and Sydney especially. It is all over the news. Landlords have all the power. Rents gone up 30 to 40% over past year
@@thejourno4273 ah thank you for the explanation, as I couldn’t understand the logic. I don’t really watch the news, (I’m from the UK so I like to avoid reading about the latest rage inducing scandal). so I really appreciate your reply shedding some light on this.
Yeah for sure that last comment explains it really well, the people we’ve met that have rented here long term since they were younger have said just how ridiculous the last few years (post pandemic really) have become for any type of rental tbh, but especially short term. Before that though I think you’re right, it was geared up specifically for more short term places!!
I’m so happy for the both of you! You both deserve this so much! I started watching your channel when you were back packing SE Asia and been watching ever since, I love the travel content! The apartment looks lovely and cannot wait to see your future uploads, keep smashing it and I wish you all the best in Australia! ☺️🥰
Yesss so it does include our bills & wifi with this one, which is another thing we were really sold on coz most of the flats had bills paid separately! X
It can be, it really depends, for long term leasing they do tend to bring the price down - it’s easier for them the longer you stay they only have one tenant so less changeover etc!
Looking at moving to Australia next year and already been looking at apartments. The price for renting looks so daunting as it's price per week, but is it manageable just seems so scary
It definitely is quite scary but it's do-able and theres lots of options! Plus the pay here generally is so much better so you're almost equalling it out!x
If we’re renting it long term I don’t really see how it’s different to letting it off an estate agency tbh - you try finding a flat in a major Aussie city right now😅
@@MollyThompsonx_ whatever suits you, I’m just laughing at people congratulating you for renting an air bnb and the photo shoot like you just purchased your first home

A vase with some flowers would be lovely.
A four month stay is worth a good pillow. Or a cheaper pillow in a silk pillowcase. Priorities 😉

Enjoy your working holiday visa and return to uk fulfilled ready to settle down.
With free trams in the CBD you are saving money on that as well as the gym.

Are you planning on leaving the furniture bits you brought in this place or take them with you?
Yeah hahaha we’ll just leave them, they didn’t cost much & we can’t really pack a table to take it with us😅

Also from a landlord POV it’s literally - long term rental income or short term rental income…we would all choose the long term to be fair
Great apartment!
Very lucky to get it when there is such a big rental crisis
Approx aud cost per month?
So excited for you both

hahahaa small world for sure!! If you ever see us about definitely stop and say hello!! xx
I can’t help but say your outfit is giving oompa loompa vibes 😂
😅😅 I’m gonna choose to not be offended by that
Love you
Does the Airbnb cost include all your bills? Might be a stupid question but just wondered how it works when you’re renting for a long time!
Yesss so it does include our bills & wifi with this one, which is another thing we were really sold on coz most of the flats had bills paid separately! X
No way that’s the same building as mine and my gfs 😂
Isn’t air bnb really expensive in general?
