I have the same camera and agree it is much better than any of the cult, high end compact point and shoot cameras! I paid just £20 for mine it came with the 28-80mm ef zoom lens, both are absolutely mint. I added your channel, always good to connect with other creators, esoecially film photographers.😊
This is the objectively correct take. I actually think the the build quality is better than folks give it credit for. It doesn't feel cheaper than my elan 7- just heavier. It is also stealth for a film slr, which is nice sometimes. The industrial design is very similar to a modern Canon mirrorless. It sucks that they only released the later rebels in that dated silver color, but this one still looks great. I don't think anyone really needs more camera than this, but I'm glad people are sleeping on it.
I started on a Rebel X. I've got a Minolta 9xi now, and have since donated my Rebel to my darkroom professor. We can never get enough working cameras... :/
Nice! I have found the light meter to be really on point for me but I guess I don’t have any other film cameras with working light meters to compare it to
Had the EOS 1000 F ( EOS Rebel S) for many years when I first started shooting and I loved it. Great cam, great lenses. I did hear that the models available right now on the used market have a common problem with the shutter not working though so buyer beware.
@@cedartreefilms Very ironically in Kyiv, or Ukraine itself its very easy to find those ones for around $20 with jupiter 8 50/2.0 attached, and considering that it has full size, fast lens, plus its the most durable series of soviet cameras ever made, (basically a ziess 2 clone) It's probably the best option you can go with on low budget, definitely not the most comfortable one, and the comparable lens list is very short, plust some of them are rare and stupidly expensive, but it's definitely a powerful start, and you definitely won't be upset with the image quality
I have never used a Canon film camera, but 99% of the points made in this video also apply to cameras like the Nikon F50, F60 or F65, which you can get for 10 or 20 dollars.
True I have been tempted to switch to those since my other film camera is a Nikon Fe2 but I have 2 ef lenses left. Would be really nice to consolidate it all to F Mount for my legacy stuff tho
I have 5 of these and I also have the AA adapter that makes then even better because it has a vertical shutter button. Also the AA's are fraction of the cost of the other batteries and easier to find.
Why? Because you wanted to pay for film. Because you wanted to pay for developing that film. Because you wanted to wait for a few days to see that film. Makes Sense to me.
Film doesn't have the limitations of a Bayer grid and has no fixed digital resolution. Also, I can completely ignore computers in favor of printing in the darkroom. Can't do that with digital.

Sweet! that kit lens is pretty capable tbh. Such a steal for 20 for both haha well done
Cheers thanks for the follow!
I did the same with the Pentax MZ-6. And the guy is Andre Agassi, tennis legend.
yes funny way to discover him for me but read about his successful career due to his camera commercials haha
I have a Rebel X that I nicknamed "Agassi".

The Rebel G was my first camera. I have such a soft spot for that thing.
That guy in the ad is Andre Agassi, a great tennis player from that era.
I love my Rebel G. I think the light meter in mine is one stop under exposed though. I usually just shoot it at +1

Interesting hadn’t heard of the rebel s. Looks like it’s the same minus the built in flash
The A2E is also fire
Yeah like the 80s esque design on it too
What's your budget film camera of choice?
Kyiv 4
@thealaris Haven’t seen that one before but love the look of it, some Soviet models are great bang for buck

Oh interesting that would be nice to have vertical too. Hmm I think the batteries I got were under $10 iirc

Yes I like film and can’t get the same look from digital, at least I can save on the camera haha 🤙

And maybe you dropped it because you do not have a camera strap on it.
🤔 you may have a point haha
