I feel as if MalwareBytes isn't there to help prevent your computer from getting malware, I feel as if it's more of a fixer. There's not a lot out there that malwarebytes can't destroy once it latches on. Which is why it is used best in tandem with something else like bitdefender. Whatever another AV detects, malwarebytes can decimate.

Hi Leo, Yes I agree with you as you remember they use to have a separate spyware product to complement the AV portion of the product and eventually they integrated the product altogether making it a full security service product. As security changes many features are added in order to enhance the AV's defenses example Anti-Ransomware protection.

I use Kaspersky free version along with Malwarebytes free version..i think that's the best combination for complete security without paying any extra money.. Kaspersky has little impact on performance and very high detection ratio where as Malwarebytes helps me to get second opinion whenever i download new file or insert a pendrive to my pc.. I have seen that many times Malwarebytes catches the adware and pup that go undetected by Antiviruses.. However it would be stupidity to depend on Malwarebytes alone because it can't be replacement for Antiviruses.. And thanks for the video.. your videos has helped a lot in choosing a good antivirus or antimalware to a lot of people..

Leo, can you Please test Sophos Home ? I have some issues with my Malwarebytes lifetime license key. While in touch with the Malwarebytes support team I decided to install Sophos home since they claimed on their website that it can protect against viruses, malware and ransomware. As of the 29th of January 2018 the version number for Sophos Home is 1.2.11. The biggest concern I have with it so far is that on an SSD it seems to use almost my whole CPU whilst running a full scan, with no way to pause it. The UI is almost spartan and seems odd, to say the least. What intrigues me is that the installer weighs in at whooping 255 MB. While it is installing it downloads quite big updates, or they just seem slower than most modern AVs. Overall it feels like this AV is half finished and raises some red flags or should I say, looks like a red herring to me. I used to use Bitdefender Antivirus Free + Immunet but since the latter turned out to be junk in one of your test videos, I have been looking for some free combos. Maybe you can do a new free antivirus challenge? Malwarebytes looks stellar in comparison with Sophos home, if one can even be made. At least in short testing. It might be just my machine. I'd love to see this AV put to the test. I guess that Sophos was the AV of choice for the NHS when WannaCry struck. I appreciate all the hard work that you are putting into it. I hope that you will see this comment. Keep the awesomeness coming! @The PC Security Channel [TPSC]

    WHAT ABOUT BLOAT WARE PROTECTION

  • @millanferende6723

But isn't it just as important, or even more important, how a program handles exploits?
How can a virus GET on your computer. It's through vulnerabilities in other programs. Then viruses can hide in other, common, programs.
How does a Software detect THAT? And is it possible to test?
Thank you very much for this video, I appreciate your channel!

The problem with this 'Test' is that Malware gets on your computer through websites etc and thats where Malwarebytes shines stopping malware from reaching your computer. This test is scanning for malware already on your computer which Bitdefender will always win hands down because it's better for scanning the computer vs stopping malware from reaching your computer. Check out some other tests, you will see what I mean :)

Puritii UK kaspersky’s real time aka paid version feature makes it so that if it DOES reach your computer it immediately goes through the disinfection protocol. if all fails it goes to deleting the malware and shredding it to pieces
so its a mix of both haha

    Hello
I am 30 days away from renewing my Emsisoft anti-malware.
Should I keep it or change for a better standalone anti-virus?
    Thanks!

N Ventura You can keep it, it’s top 3 (Emsisoft, Bitdefender, Kaspersky) but renew your licence once it finishes your trial period

      Thanks for the opinion!
But I already bought it last year, so this will be my 2nd year using it.

N Ventura Cool! For some reason I understood that you were using Emsisoft trial period (because of the 30 days) sorry I read that wrong xD

Bitdefender runs as a stand-alone AV product. MalwareBytes was designed to work with Windows Defender to provide protection. Bitdefender actually tells you it will conflict with Windows defender and recommends you disable it. If you ran the Malwarebytes test with Windows Defender disabled, you did not use the recommended settings. Also, the free version of Malwarebytes doesn't do some things that the Premium version does.

It would have been great if you could make a video about the meltdown and specter exploits and how they could potentially compromise a system's security, esp. for older systems that no longer receive any bios or firmware updates, thereby making them more vulnerable. And yes, linus sebastian is rather annoying.

After watching I thought the video should be called "Antivirus" vs Anti-Malware.

I've heard that avast is an antivirus not an anti-malware is that true?
