There 8s a moment in time that feels like years when you start taking anti anxiety/depression meds when you feel numb.. it's like you feel nothing and its a hard tome, but keep taking them, it takes about a year for them to have any real effect but once you past the sick feeling, hopelessness and then the numb feeling you one day realised that you are smiling...its mad, you are suddenly able to keep that happy feeling for longer then before and it fills you with this warmt. I always interpreted it as being about addiction/calling an addiction or emergency hotline, since a lot of his music is about drug abuse/addiction (Hope, Coffee, and those are just off the top of my head there are more). Especially the second verse seems to be about someone waking up after being hospitalized for an overdose ("no flatline, what were you scared about?") and the "I insist somebody will die and I hate hoping / someday I will go back outside and see her okay" is pretty relatable to those of us with loved ones going through addiction, knowing they will likely day and hoping to see them well again. During the ringtones at one point there's an operator that says "let me try again" and at the end there's a dial tone with no answer, indicating that the hotline missed her call and tried to reach her back, but was too late. I also respect the interpretation that its about depression and suicide because a lot of his songs touch on that as well
@@gamespc-zi6zoIt is definently trying to evoke a creepy and somewhat manic tone though, with the contrasting upbeat music and darker lyrical topics, as well as the cuts to harsh static. The video is also trying to do this, with the warped claymation and constantly jumping backgrounds. It's not a stretch to get the get a picture of someone in a dark place emotionally from this song ig.
this little short film opal by him pretty deep too. topics bout child neglect nd addict parents sad but the way he portrays them is so genius. very talented person
It's also just really good from a cinemography perspective, the muted tones, claymation and early digital animation landing pretty well in the uncanny valley, and the wispy almost ethereal imagery related to the concept of a home comes together to make something unsettling and cool
Context: The girl calls a suicide hotline and they constantly disregard her, she eventually kills herself. The weird beat noise mimic the gun shots. And that is why the song is called "baby hotline" >>> suicide hotline is what it really means.
He's also just really good at setting a tone with stylistic and pacing choices. Like this song for example, is unsettling not only because of whatever deeper meaning you might get from it but also the abrupt and harsh cuts cuts to static, the cheery upbeat tone contrasted with the talk of pills, and death with the addition of the visual aspects of the warped claymation and quickly cutting backgrounds. Idk this is kind of a rant but people never talk about this part of Jack's stuff.
I always interpreted Baby Hotline being about the friend and not the woman. Obviously it’s traced back to the woman and her suicide, but I see it as being from the man’s perspective. Idk not revolutionary but whatever; I think the song is about a friend being torn apart from the guilt of suicide, not a woman hoarding quarters for the suicide hotline.
i think so too! i always thought it was this guy working at a suicide hotline that probably knew her personally, and feels guilty that he wasn’t able to save her
As someone who’s been listening to this man’s music since 9-10th grade (I graduated like 2 years ago) it makes me really happy whenever I see more and more people listening to him because I use to be considered the weird girl in my school for doing so.
For those who don’t know, the song is about a depressed lady (husband trying to help her)but her mental state is horrible (telling her to do it) so she calls a suicide hotline but they put her on hold and hung up many times but by the time they got back to her, she had already committed suicide so basically the song is the lady’s husband trying to cope with his loss Long story short: Depressed lady, called suicide hotline, declined on her, called back, she committed, husband trying to cope. Edit: OMG MAMA IM FAMOUS (and npppp for the ppl saying “thank you for the short and understandable explanation”🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻)
Technically that's probably not what it's about, but there is definently a reason people jump to that. The harsh cuts in the video and song as well as the contrasting visuals and lyrics vs tone do very much give a manic and dark feel, that wouldn't be out of place for someone on a suicide hotline.
What i hear: I can not keep on drinking and eyes never open... I had seen someone who will die and i hate gulping Wishing on those pills make me cry and i hate gulping (From what i hear, gulping is drinking alcohole btw ❤) Someday i can go back in time and see her, okay?... (From what i hear on this line, i think this line about "her" has died amd he wants go to back in time just to live out the memories again❤❤)
This song it's about a girl who struggles with depression, and calls the su!cide hotline. But she keeps getting pun on hold and eventually k!ll's herself. In the song you hear bangs, that is meant to indicate the sound of a gun. When the song ends, you will hear ringing, this is either her calling the hotline, or the hotline trying to call her back, but they can't because she's already dead.
Jack is fire ngl everyone just knows him for making this song but barely anybody knows his other songs like two time, fighter, and so much more like- they’re so good😭
I'm so glad that not only Jack Stauber is getting more notoriety, but also this song in particular. It's dark in subject matter, but very enjoyable to listen to (hopefully that doesn't sound too dark😅).
i believe this song is about a woman who called a suicide hotline , and got put on hold . After a bit , she k!lled herself . very deep meaning to a somewhat innocent looking song .
I interpret this song as a lady who is depressed because of a miscarriage or still has a baby and is trying to convince herself not to kill herself so that the baby can live
I feel so bad for him. His girlfriend called te suidal hotline since she was thinking about killing herself and they hung up so she ended up doing it. That’s why in the song jack says “ to she her okey” feel so bad for him
i love jack stauber so much, he makes songs, stories, and many things about serious topics in such an abstract way that even sometimes you can find mutiple definitions within them, he makes literal masterpieces
jack stauber makes the most relatable music with the best vibes. just imagine “stay friends, problems that you can’t defend” as you walk home from school past your classmate’s house, who doesn’t like you anymore “tears falling down at the party” alone on your birthday. “i insist somebody will die and i hate hoping.” when you’re on the verge of death and trying to get help but your parents tell you it’s just a phase.
For those who don't know the song "baby hotline" is an a girl who was depressed and wanted to khs so she called a suicide hotline called "baby hotline" but they kept putting her on hold and she ended up shooting herself Hope this helps!

I also respect the interpretation that its about depression and suicide because a lot of his songs touch on that as well
eh nobody really knows his meanings he doesnt say what they mean hes kinda mysterious lmao
@@gamespc-zi6zo I direct you to the opening phrase "I always interpreted it as"
@@gamespc-zi6zoIt is definently trying to evoke a creepy and somewhat manic tone though, with the contrasting upbeat music and darker lyrical topics, as well as the cuts to harsh static. The video is also trying to do this, with the warped claymation and constantly jumping backgrounds. It's not a stretch to get the get a picture of someone in a dark place emotionally from this song ig.
i had never thought about it that way, but it actually makes more sense to me lol
Jack Stauber is the definition of "comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable"
Opal has ripped my soul into a million pieces after already (mostly) healing, and I couldn’t be more grateful for it
this little short film opal by him pretty deep too. topics bout child neglect nd addict parents sad but the way he portrays them is so genius. very talented person
WHAT IS IT CALLED
It's also just really good from a cinemography perspective, the muted tones, claymation and early digital animation landing pretty well in the uncanny valley, and the wispy almost ethereal imagery related to the concept of a home comes together to make something unsettling and cool
That was by him?? I just watched that earlier this year, and it was disturbing.

Context: The girl calls a suicide hotline and they constantly disregard her, she eventually kills herself. The weird beat noise mimic the gun shots. And that is why the song is called "baby hotline" >>> suicide hotline is what it really means.
It's all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits
Before knowing the lyrics:💃
After knowing the lyrics:💃
The song is about a suicide prevention hotline called “baby hotline” and a woman who wants to call them gets put on hold and ends up unaliving herself
Jack Stauber has so many songs with lyrics you can’t understand. That’s part of his charm. Love his stuff.
underdeveloped frontal lobe
Not so fun fact:
The loud bang sound that your hear when he is finished singing a sentence is supposed the sound of a gun going off
I always thought it was just meant to be harsh static as a means of catching the listener off gaurd and contributing to the the overall tone.
great i cant unhear a lout shoot at the end of the sentence. thank you
I love Jack Stuaber his songs are good and are so creative for real
Baby Hotline is about a woman calling the suicide hotline.
someday i will go outside and see her okay nearly made me cry
This song is creepy with the lyrics and the video 💀
Lol I thought it was a fun dance song

@@90srockenjoyer same! its so cool its not really creepy
I love this song it's a great song and when he said "ok..." it's like saying goodbye...
I love the melodies he creates. They’re so out there but perfect
For those who don’t know, the song is about a depressed lady (husband trying to help her)but her mental state is horrible (telling her to do it) so she calls a suicide hotline but they put her on hold and hung up many times but by the time they got back to her, she had already committed suicide so basically the song is the lady’s husband trying to cope with his loss
Long story short:
Depressed lady,called suicide hotline,declined on her,called back,she committed,husband trying to cope.
Edit: OMG MAMA IM FAMOUS (and npppp for the ppl saying “thank you for the short and understandable explanation”🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻)
I've been scrolling the comments, and it seems like a *lot* of people have had a similar experience :(
Technically that's probably not what it's about, but there is definently a reason people jump to that. The harsh cuts in the video and song as well as the contrasting visuals and lyrics vs tone do very much give a manic and dark feel, that wouldn't be out of place for someone on a suicide hotline.
I thought the song was from the perspective of one of the suicide hotline operators but idk I could be wrong
Btw its not his wife. Its someone else
It was, and i heard it was abt his wife or smth? @Nefelifreya
I love everything from jack! It’s all so catchy but it always has a deeper meaning
I like that VHS filter 📼

Such a best beat
Bro I showed this song to my dad when I didn't even know what it was about..😢
Jack stay bet makes me remember playing hello neighbor when I was little with my sister like his music makes me feel something I can’t explain 😭❓
Most songs are perfect until you look at the lyrics
This would have been a boring song if it wasn't for the lyrics.
What about the harsh static and the singer sounding like he's about to cry? It's not all about the lyrics.
Suicide hotline really got me pumped though
*baby hotline*
Please hold me
“Wishing that the pills let you cry” is so real as someone who’s on antidepressants.
i was looking for a comment like this cuz this is too real
Jack stauber is so silly like wdym baby hotline is about a suicidal hotline
“One day I will go back outside and see you okay.”
Hits hard .😢
Why what happened
@@Juliemartinez-z4b I think his wife died or committed suicide
Jack Stauber got me into music again in late 2022 till mid 2023, thank you Jack.

Nice
I interpret this song as a lady who is depressed because of a miscarriage or still has a baby and is trying to convince herself not to kill herself so that the baby can live
You are a true talent, don't ever stop creating.
I was super into this dude in 2019-2020 and it’s weird to see him only getting this much recognition now
great job adding to the content! great insight when you nodded your head
I love how he makes the songs sad, but serous topic, and its weird core. This song is one of my faves❤
This man is truly an artist. I love his stuff so much
For those of u who don't know this song has a static of a phone which is when a girl commited suicide.
Jack stauber looks like a fun uncle, who brings presents every time he comes.
Coffee is probably my favorite song of his, but Baby Hotline and Control are both great too!
jack stauber makes the most relatable music with the best vibes. just imagine
“stay friends, problems that you can’t defend” as you walk home from school past your classmate’s house, who doesn’t like you anymore
“tears falling down at the party” alone on your birthday.
“i insist somebody will die and i hate hoping.” when you’re on the verge of death and trying to get help but your parents tell you it’s just a phase.
Ah man I love him. I hope he's doing alright and drops a song soon!
dude i lowkey wanna meet this guy. hes literally the realest music artist ever.
He’s a really good singer actually ❤❤❤❤😊
For those who don't know the song "baby hotline" is an a girl who was depressed and wanted to khs so she called a suicide hotline called "baby hotline" but they kept putting her on hold and she ended up shooting herself
