What a terrifying situation. My daughter had a stalker who was relentlessly stalking her. He was a coworker. She couldn’t get away from him and the boss thought she was being mean to him because this guy had a tale of woe a mile long that’s too complex to get into here. In the end, he got arrested for breaking into a church and when he was finger printed, they discovered he wasn’t who he was pretending to be at all. He’d been a missing person for nearly a year with a fully normal life he’d left behind, including a fiancé. Once he was de-cloaked, he never bothered my daughter again. But what a freak! We had reported him to the police on 2 occasions but they wouldn’t do anything until he might assault her in some way. Constant texting, finding ways around her social media blocks, turning up where she was when our socially, calling her at work, etc wasn’t enough to act on. It all happened inside of four months. She was very lucky that it ended immediately the way it did.

It might not be over. There are often breaks in the stalking. She should learn self defence.

I've had two stalkers in my life, both ex-boyfriends. The first was in the mid-80s and the second was in the early 90s, before stalking was a discussed topic. They both changed me permanently, left me extremely distrusting and far more introverted. I still have nightmares, all these years later. One day a couple of years ago, some weirdo came up to me at a bus stop, started chatting and wouldn't leave despite my clear body language that I wasn't interested in engaging. I finally screamed at the top of my lungs, "LEAVE ME ALONE!" which garnered a lot of attention, and then he finally left.

The bus situation, your response was definitely the right one. Some people do not respect the feelings and body language of others and think that they can talk you into or out of whatever regardless of your feelings. They're just that cool in their own mind. It really is necessary to loudly, publically call them out on their behaviour for them to see that they're attention truly is not wanted. It's sad, but true.

Hopefully Jenny's courageous sharing of her awful stalking experience will raise more awareness and support.
You are looking handsome and stylish dr Das.
I had a stalker in my early 20s. He was a rejected/ predatory type. I think he became obsessed as he told me that I looked like his mother! The whole situation was warped. To put him off I changed my appearance, tried being nice, nasty and something inbetween. None of this worked. Thankfully the stalking did stop.
One of the benefits of being middle aged is that it is less likely that I would be a target now.

Poor woman 😢 stalker laws definitely need to be changed. I've had stalkers before and whilst it is usually exes, it could be anyone. We can take some steps - listen to our instincts when something feels off, let friends and family know, and alert the police. Ultimately, the system needs to change. On a lighter note, it's always great to see you on TV Dr Das ❤

As always, I think you're spot on with your stalking assessment of him (incompetent suitor) and also that there's possibly an underlying mental illness driving his ongoing stalking behaviours.
It's a pity the hosts didn't have the courtesy to learn how to introduce you properly 🙃

I think they get power from getting away with breaking rules covertly. "No one is going to tell them what to do"

I think the 4 hour filling out an application should have been stopped after an hour. He should have been asked to leave. An all women office is very vulnerable to these type of bullying weird men. I was sralked by an ex boyfriend which was bad enough, but this is really scary!

I think you should always confront a stalker. I saw one true crime case in America where the woman started carrying a gun and shot him. He went to hospital and never bothered her again. Either go on the offensive or leave the country.

One guy stalked me, my roommate yelled that she was going to call the police on him and neither of us ever saw him again, thankfully.
I think he bothered a lot of women.

She appears kind, soft spoken, even demure...and unfortunately this strange man has terrorized her. I'm curious if there's any previous behavior, of this stalker, that indicates this is a pattern for him...

Unfortunately this is a worldwide issue & yes the police do have to wait until there’s some “concrete” evidence to act. Unsure if the laws are different in the UK to Sth Aust. if a person feels threatened by another’s person’s words or actions (without actually assaulting) it can be deemed an offence. As a retired HR person there’s no way in Hades that person would have been employed. Unless one has been stalked it’s difficult for most people to understand. I do feel saddened this young lady had such a harrowing experience. I hope with the passage of time the “hyper vigilance” eases as it is quite exhausting. Ominous Shohominus you scrubbed up well TV. Best wishes from Adelaide; South Australia🦘🐨🇦🇺💐
