    I don't know if there's a disinterest in eyeshadow but I do think the market got way oversaturated, so now people aren't buying as much. I'm hoping that brands readjust and instead of releasing big eyeshadow palettes every few months, start doing more single shadows and save the bigger palette releases for a couple times a year.

      Well it goes in waves, we're in the clean girl era so only eyeshadow looks I see trending are very discreet, close to the lashline neutral looks.

      @ivyzen8860 oversaturated big time! I mean just seeing Colourpop regurgitating a new palette almost every week has kind of turned me off them now sad to say but it’s too much so I totally agree 😊❤️

      Honestly I want more that have magnet build your own pallet, I usually only use 1/3rd of a pallet

      i've always been an eyeshadow girly but i hated it when all the brands switched to releasing big palettes constantly, it's overwhelming and even though it seems like a good bang for your buck, it's kind of inherently wasteful because i've honestly never had a palette that didn't end up with several untouched colors... i like the single pans and magnetic palette approach.

    I'm a millennial... I used to wear eye shadow ALL THE TIME. I still have so many pallets. But, honestly, in recent years... I just don't care anymore? I still wear mascara and some powder, but for now- less is more.

      I find it so refreshing at the same time that some people will give up using something whether it’s a permanent decision or not. I love to dig deeper as to why but you know there doesn’t have to be a reason. For me too these days I am more bare faced then ever because I literally like don’t go out much lol. Thanks so much for your honest feedback ❤️

      Agree and it do makes your eyes darker because of the thin skin around our eyes. The constant brushing gives us racoon eyes.

    I'm a Millennial and love eyeshadow. The more sparkly the better. Our generation is struggling to accept aging as a whole, we are not the young generation anymore and show (absolutely normal by now) signs of aging. I personally think all those cream products are far worse for aging as they settle into fine lines easier and crease and wrong blush/contour placement can age someone a lot! I am a fan of the glossy lip trend though, i do think that it just looks fresher, healthier and plumper (plus i always have dry chapped lips so mattes look just crusty).

    • @juliesmakeupspot
      @juliesmakeupspot  4 месяца назад

      Thanks so much for your feedback! Love love love a sparkly eye look. I do agree and I think it's a bit troubling that the generation finds it hard to accept that getting old is just a part of life and hey even my generation finds it hard to accept lol. I think applying cream products over powder just lightly and then building up gets a better application then just applying cream products over bare skin, for me it looks better over powder, but again everyone has there preferences.

    I just got started wearing eye shadow pretty recently. I find it fun because I don't do it all the time and it's great fun collecting singles into a curated pallet I enjoy color..

      I love that as you get to create a palette that is like your secret weapon of colours that is unique in that nobody else will have that same colour story and that’s so much fun 🤩

    This eyeshadow look is so pretty, it really makes your eye color stand out! I'm in the cusp between gen z and millennial, and I'm still a big eyeshadow fan--although lately I have been more interested in single eyeshadow products (like crayons or single pans) rather than big palettes... probably just because they're easier to store!

    • @juliesmakeupspot
      @juliesmakeupspot  4 месяца назад

      @neocityfilmnoir thanks so much for your comment and feedback. Yes I hear you I too am trying my hardest to only get single shades as too many large palettes to deal with and honestly such a waste if not getting used much and yep storage issues are real. I swear the temptation to get new products is also real but we can only do our best right? Lol

    Not intending to say anything bad related to u as a person, but the color and the style of the make up, it really is an old lady look, it's this shiny blue that all my grandma's friends wear, I think this shade is already internationally known as an indicator of age

      Welp, Chanel just released a quad with a darker light blue for a pop of colour … many brands are… I suppose application style is important as well as the shade of a colour that’s “in”😊

    I love all things makeup and follow some trends if they suit me, but eyeshadow is almost a must for me. I will think, no makup for tonight, simple and I end up with bold glitter, shimmer etc! I love the process of applying makeup. It is therapeutic...btw I'm 50😊

      42 and relate to this so much! Eyeshadow is my weakness! For me too makeup is a form of therapy, it soothes and relaxes me while allowing me to be a bit creative. I don't feel any pressure though, one day I just don't want to bother with anything on my face, next day multichrome glitter to go buy groceries? Yes please lol! I just enjoy having fun with it.

  • @staceyb3007
    @staceyb3007 4 месяца назад +2

    As a millennial, I am actually escalating my love of eyeshadow into indie shadows and multichromes. Now I’m starting to wondering if I’m perceived as old and outdated now with my bold eye looks😮🤔 but also I think the no makeup makeup trend will cycle around and eyeshadow will never die 😊

    • @juliesmakeupspot
      @juliesmakeupspot  4 месяца назад +1

      I love that and indie brands excel with their multichromes. I really love Clionadh amongst other brands! I wouldn’t care about being perceived as old. I think how it makes you feel is more important and if it gives you confidence then that’s all that matters 🤩

  • @kristaw206
    @kristaw206 4 месяца назад +2

    I've become much more choosy with eyeshadow with my age, and with things in general, I only want to wear things I like! And not guilting myself into using shades I don't like just cuz I don't want to waste them in the palette. I'm getting so sick of everything being palettes now...I just want the singles/duos/quads of things I know I'm going to use.

    • @juliesmakeupspot
      @juliesmakeupspot  4 месяца назад +2

      I think we have decided smaller palettes are the way to go and it takes the pressure of feeling that you have to wear every single shadow as you would in a massive palette 😊

  • @TheEtherny

    I think what totally ages you is applying eyeshadow like it was 2016. These days a wash of color or a cateye is way more youthful than your average cutcrease look, either way, people should wear what they like best

    I realized that I prefer to put focus on my lips. My eyes are small and hooded but I enjoy putting bright and shimmery shadows on the center of my eyelids. My pocket will also thank me. I also prefer to invest in luxury shadow quads that I can wear on a regular basis. My face looks more balanced with something on my lids so I don't think I will completely get rid of eyeshadows in my collection. I love cream blush and highlighter. Red lips are my favourite on me. Cool or True Reds only. Or a deep coloured lipgloss.

    I think some eyeshadow placements can look really dated, but a bit of well placed eyeshadow can make you look more awake or more glamorous. I don’t see myself quitting using eyeshadows, even if I definitely use less of it than say 10 years ago.

    • @juliesmakeupspot
      @juliesmakeupspot  4 месяца назад +1

      So true @MusingsOnBeauty eyeshadow placement and even certain formulas for example cheap chalky formulas and those hard to pick up satin formulas can make anyone look look dry and unflattering , I have regretted buying cheap eyeshadows especially to get on the say for example warm eyeshadow trends which for me I don’t personally love lol and end up looking sick and just lacking vibrancy. I see some really younger generation girls going full glam with the eyeliner and shadow but the rest of the face is really natural and bare and it’s so beautiful 🤩 so in 10 years to come it might just be a one and done shadow job (or not)

  • @erynnm3045
    @erynnm3045 4 месяца назад +3

    Yes! I honestly think you’re right. When I look at stores I’ve noticed there’s nowhere near as much eyeshadow available as there used to be. Lots have been discontinued. Creams are definitely becoming more popular too.
    Interestingly, my own tastes have changed as well. I’m 30. When I first started wearing makeup all I wanted to wear was eyeshadow. I never owned foundation, blush, bronzer or concealer. They were all too much and looked too unnatural. These days? It’s flipped. I’ll wear foundation, blush, bronzer and concealer, but minimal eyeshadow. All I seem to want to do these days is a neutral brown in the crease, with a light toned matte, satin or shimmer on the lid, and a tiny line of black eyeliner and mascara, just to define and create that natural look. And brows obviously. It’s interesting how makeup tastes change

    • @juliesmakeupspot
      @juliesmakeupspot  4 месяца назад +1

      @erynnm3045 I love the simplicity of how brown eyeshadow with some shimmer can make eyes pop in the most unassuming way. Yes tastes change and I think doing what works for you is the true beauty here. Thank you so much for your honest feedback 💜

    Aside from the tutorial, which is great, I'd say I pretty much love eyeshadow palettes, however, I have never been very into larga palettes. I'm 29 years old, I lived through the 2016-2018 beauty community cusp and never enjoyed the over glam look, but i appreciate some elements of it, such as eyeshadow. I enjoy using it because it allows me to play with color and textures, it can also complement my outfits in new and exciting ways.
    I have few eyeshadow palettes and I'm not planning in expanding my collection any time soon.

    • @juliesmakeupspot
      @juliesmakeupspot  4 месяца назад

      @enx2526 thanks so much for your input! I really admire anyone who explores with eyeshadow to enhance outfits and even just to suit a mood or style! I also think there’s something so satisfying in using up makeup you have instead of constantly collecting makeup that is just not going to get used. I think smaller palettes serve their purpose and are a league of their own 😊

    I'm a young millennial. It's my favorite kind of makeup. The one I've always been best at and the one you can go wild with for a decent price
    Honestly never heard of this before
    Also I look like a teenager without makeup so aging isn't a problem for me.. Seriously had the neighbors questioning my partner on if I was his daughter.. I like looking older xD people give me dirty looks for being a mom
    I would be devastated if I couldn't find eyeshadow anywhere. It's art for me.

      I love this! Knowing that you’re a eyeshadow lover is awesome and it just goes to show that trends going around in TikTok really are just trends that will be replaced with the next new age trend. I’m all for trends but when I feel a trend is targeted a specific age group I feel it’s unfair and it opens up judgement when at the end of the day It’s Makeup. Being any age (but I do have concerns for young adults especially under 15 getting adult products for adult skin) should be able to showcase their makeup with or without being told you look or are too old to be wearing this or that lol.

    You would think Euphoria would create a surge in eyeshadow love. My guess is eyeshadow will be hot amongst counter culture girlies (for the younger gen). Think of how much makeup goth/emo/punk girls wore in comparison to the preppy girls in the early 2ks

      Oh and light shadows are truly beautiful. Do you line outside the lashes to widen your eyes? I love the technique of light shading in the inner half of the eyes and then lining only the outside of the lashes which really can also make smaller eyes seem bigger not that lining inside the eyes is bad as I think even Lining inside the waterline can make eyes like striking 💙
