Highly recommend these. My enamel sink is atleast 30 years old and probably warped. Never could get a proper seal on the right side with putty and standard drain. I think the previous owners had a garbage disposal at one time. I also had a brass and copper strainer. The left was original and still sealed fine with putty. Finally installed one of these on the right and it’s been holding scalding hot water for over an hour. Not one drop. This will help with any sink that may have imperfections.
I wish all brands would use gaskets instead of putty and or silicone for basket installs. It would make it so much easier cleaner and faster for us installers. With todays tech and material advancements there is no excuse anymore. You guys make some of the best stuff on the market for extremely competitive prices.
Jason, Thank you for your kind words. A lot of people are apprehensive to use the gasket because they are so accustomed to using putty. But we think it makes all the difference!!!
Worth every penny, I cannot be happier with my new Kraus sink. The gaskets are wonderful, I was wondering if I would need putty or not as the instructions that came with the sink didn't specify. Installation was very easy, hardest part was fitting the sink into the counter top for me.
Would be helpful if you showed a tailpiece being attached. The washer is the same size as a 1-1/2” standard tailpiece. Doesn’t fit around or in it. How are the nut and washer supposed to be attached?
Our drain screw was not properly tightened upon purchase and had been lightly leaking off and on and this clearly explained how to fix that very clearly and also the rest of the setup. Thank You for providing this video.
You know you’re getting old when you have strong opinions about sink strainers 😂 But this thing is awesome! Not having to use plumber putty or silicone has saved me so much time and headache. Thanks Kraus 👍🏻
Thank you for the detailed instructions. I didn’t know there was a screw and when I checked ours it was so loose that water was leaking below. This is a brand new house and it hasn’t even been a year and I am so glad you posted this video. Yours was the only one I found. TYFS!
Finally the white gasket explained! Please show a video of the the white gasket not leaking water....so I can decide on plumbers putty or white foam gasket. thanks
Hi! We do not have a video of this currently, However, you can rest assured that the white gasket will NOT leak if tightened properly. If you experience any issue, simply contact our top-rated customer service team at 800-775-0703 / customerservice@kraususa.com for assistance. Thank you!
Do you expect the white gasket to last as long as putty? And the video didn’t state how tight to make the screw to avoid leaks. Do I need to crank it hand tight or are we talking finger tight since you used a coin?
Can someone please, for the love of God, point me in the direction of a standard lower basket assembly to mount a disposal. Here in the US 90% of us use disposals and there are NO instructions in the box about it whatsoever and standard disposal flanges don't screw on like this does. TIA
He just said the nut and rubber gasket was for a tail pipe 1 1/4. Most tails are 1 1/2 and the rubber gasket will not fit around the tail when inside the nut. Went back to Home depot and all the 1 1/4 tails are with threads and no lip (straight).... / Does that mean the rubber provided is made for a non-standard tail?
Hi Bernard, Thank you for bringing this to our attention! You are correct that we misspoke when recording the video. 1 1/2 tailpiece is used for this and all standard bathroom sink connections in the US. 1 1/4 is standard for bathroom sinks only. We will be correcting and uploading a new video shortly to reflect this change.
My sink was clogged so I just took all this apart. I cannot get the grey cup off or tighten it or anything. My model is not that old but it does not have the screw or that lower gray cap at all. I can’t figure out how to take the gray sleeve off the basket strainer. Turning it doesn’t work. Nothing seems to free the two pieces from each other.
Yes it does. Please contact Kraus customer service at 800-775-0703 / customerservice@kraususa.com if you are having issues with the installation and we will be happy to assist you.
Is that supposed to just drain into a bucket? How about explaining the special adapter we will need that is different from how 95% of all drain baskets attach to the drainage pipe
So I can't put a trash compactor because there is no adaptor. Well time to return it. I purchase it specially for the look and if it's not there it now becomes trash worth $300 whatever.
Hi aldosv73 - Yes, garbage disposals are 100% compatible with our sinks. Rather than install a disposal to the drain, the disposal will replace the drain as it has its own flange and mounts directly to the sink.
Hard critique here. This was stupid useless. Anybody can put the drain on a sink like that, but that is not how it installs. You didn’t show exactly how the down pipe pvc fits onto the bottom of drain. The top hat fitting goes into the gray nut then the black washer on top - inside the nut. Maybe this is obvious, but I am looking for confirmation.

Currently experiencing this issue.
You have to use the rubber gaskets that sit on top of the tail piece. Not included in the set.
The sink was professionally installed but doing the plumbing myself. Having this tutorial is so helpful, thank you!

Wow! You guy's really care about your customers. Thank you!
My new Kraus was easy to install, works great, and is good quality, i can't ask for any more then that...Thanks Kraus

@@jamessurname2285 hand tightened mine with the coin. works great so far.. if it ever leaks I will use the putty.
Thank you so much. Great product, easy install, good support.
Thank you - very good video and answered all my questions -
Thank you for the video. It answered both of my questions. Very helpful.
Thanks. I just Bought a Kraus Sink at home depot
Awesome! Enjoy it! let us know if you have any questions down the line!
I'm glad I found this video. Thank you! You just saved me a call to a plumber!
Thank you for video it was very helpful.
So, you don’t have to use too much force when tightening the screw with a coin? some input on this would be appreciated
Now I know about foam washer. Thanks.🇬🇧
After 7 years my Kraus sink is leaking now, I'm assuming I have to replace the gaskets? And where can I buy these replacement gaskets?
Very helpful, thanks..
Very detailed. This really helps alot.
Who makes a 15mm (5/8") screwdriver?
Does the disposal hookup up to the exterior cover?
Thank you for the detailed instructions. How to connect the strainer to the drain pipe with this nut? Thanks!
Asking again:How to connect the strainer to the drain pipe with this nut?
How do you attach it to the plumbing
Nice video, both the sink and strainer look like quality products. You mentioned "15 mm flat head screwdriver" twice. What's up with that?

What is the difference between the BST-1 and the BST-1-ST-1?
Does the nut and washer come with your ST-4 model? I'm installing your Bellucci sink today and don't see them.
Yes it does. Please contact Kraus customer service at 800-775-0703 / customerservice@kraususa.com if you are having issues with the installation and we will be happy to assist you.
Great video, will these work on Sinkology porcelain farmhouse sinks? Thanks!
It should! You can compare the spec sheet for the strainer, found on our website, with the dimensions of your sink to be 100% certain.
Can’t believe you don’t have to plumbers putty this into drain. That foam gasket does the job ??
What is the nut and the washer for ? How do you then attache a tail piece ?
I want to know this also
@@vincentv.4832 Hey, I found you have to buy a specific tail piece for a strainer... They are cheap and are at HD Lower. also easy to attach
