I love that the same 4-5 musicians totally jam with her at so many of her Norwegian events. From the 'I Put a Spell on You' studio, over several years at major indoor and outdoor events, those guys keep jazzing and rocking it out with her. Pure joy to watch every time!

We concentrate on her voice and her energy on these jazzy takes-and because we’re so used to Angelina’s talent, we take for granted the things she does with the phrasing and timing. At 11 years old, she plays with the timing of the delivery, and it’s perfectly integrated with the music. And we know that the next time Angelina sings this, the timing will be different depending on her mood, the band behind her, and the setting. It comes across so naturally and authentically because it is. The musicality just flows out of her. Ceci, I believe you did a reaction to Angelina singing Cry Me a River, but it was with a big band behind her. It would be great if you could react to Angelina singing that song at this same concert with this terrific band. It’s very different from the other version, and there is a trombone solo that’s absolutely beautiful. It’s just real jazz. I thought the classic, sultry version of Cry Me a River by Julie London couldn’t be touched, but Angelina just kills it here. Great music and true jazz singing. Jazz is deeply in her dna. I can't even think that she ever will leave this music. She should also, as I see it,sing the music she likes of any timeperiod. She has become great by doing that through the years, and than she use what she has learnt to make music even better in a new way, her way.
As Ceci says, more like this! However, this is already 4 years ago and her releases in the past year have been quite different. This is natural as her singling ability develops, as her personal taste evolves and her career develops. Like many, I love her jazz, but with her level of ability, I'm always excited to see where she decides to go next!
Yes, she is mostly about jazz. She understood it thoroughly as a small child listening to her grandmother’s old jazz greats records. She should always sing her way, as you say. She makes whatever she sings her own.

Just FYI, Boris Palenovski has been editing and enhancing a lot of these low quality concert video's of Angelina and they sound so much better. Worth a look in your interested.
1. An important thing to remember about AJ is that she owns the rights to everything she sings and with aquired permissions for covers of other singers. 2. She refused to sign for a record deal through AGT and they relented and invited her to sing anyway. 3. She began singing at 18 months and due to her grandmothers influence, she was drawn to and fell in love with jazz and blues music. 4. She has been arranging most, if not all of her music performances since she was 8 years old. 5. Currently in 2022 she still performs barefoot, sews her own clothes, (the cloth is designed by her grandmother) and she stands 6 feet tall at 15 yeats old! 6. We all hope to enjoy her performances for many years to come. 7. BTW I'm 80 and have been involved privately in music since age 7.

Great reaction Ceci. I have to agree with everyone else that you have to hear her Cry Me A River from this concert. She has recorded that song several times, but in this one she slows it down & gives a master class on smooth jazz control. No belting, just subtle vocal mastery by an 11 yo girl that will blow your mind.

I love jazz & R&B. My ears went nuts listening to this. This type of music is where Angelina shines. I think she is going to turn the music industry on its ear. Between now & 19, she's still experimenting & refining. She is still doing covers and some of her own here & there. Some have said she sounds like Adele, Amy Winehouse, etc. Some hint that could be who she will end up sounding like. How short sighted. She is still a work in progress. I suspect Angelina is going to take everything she has learned re-mould it before putting it back out. For those who have already made up their minds as to how she will eventually sound will be the most shocked. I'll be expecting it. Her creativity goes deeper than just notes.
The sax player has to shake his head to remind himself to start playing again. Angelina has an inner-nano-atomic-clock to get such attack timing within the beat of the band. Sensational.
The changes in the lyrics are very smart. You have to be protective at her age and at the same time it is more true to her and these smart changes don't destroy the message. Very smart and thought thru.

Great Reaction!! Kudo to her parents and her grand-mother that exposed her to jazz so young. I really believe that jazz is the best school to learn music. Why? I think jazz and Blues (In a way the same thing since jazz kind of comes from the blues) helps develop musical instinct that you don't find as much in other genre. Example of this are classically trained singer always sound like classically train singers (there are a few exceptions). Jazz training open possibilities.
I loved your reaction, Ceci. You have such a heart for Angelina. There's no question this vocal is amazing. I also really enjoyed the relaxation in Angelina's body, and how obviously comfortable she was. I, like you, really hope she never goes completely away from her jazz, but whatever this young woman decides to do in future, we all know, she'll do it incredibly well.
There is a huge concert coming to Central Park in NY August 21st. All the big names in music. It would be great if UMG,and Republic Records had enough clout to get Angelina in for just 1 song, that's all she would need to show the music industry they have a new star, especially if she sang a number like this. They were sold out in the spring of 2020! And, unfortunately, her concert's again postponed, now until 2022. I was going to Norway for that concert (and a little sightseeing).

I remember listening to my father collection of 78s when i was young in my late 70s now, Blues and Jazz, the more i listen to Angelina the more i believe in reincarnation.
Ceci, It is always special when you listen to a new performance. Recently l listened to her cover of Gloria Gaynor's l Will Survive. Amazing mastery of technique. Video says 2016 but l think it is more likely a little later. You can hear the nuances and ornaments she is adding to her repertoire.

Great reaction Ceci. I have to agree with everyone else that you have to hear her Cry Me A River from this concert. She has recorded that song several times, but in this one she slows it down & gives a master class on smooth jazz control. No belting, just subtle vocal mastery by an 11 yo girl that will blow your mind.

I love jazz & R&B. My ears went nuts listening to this. This type of music is where Angelina shines. I think she is going to turn the music industry on its ear. Between now & 19, she's still experimenting & refining. She is still doing covers and some of her own here & there. Some have said she sounds like Adele, Amy Winehouse, etc. Some hint that could be who she will end up sounding like. How short sighted. She is still a work in progress. I suspect Angelina is going to take everything she has learned re-mould it before putting it back out. For those who have already made up their minds as to how she will eventually sound will be the most shocked. I'll be expecting it. Her creativity goes deeper than just notes.

Great Reaction!! Kudo to her parents and her grand-mother that exposed her to jazz so young. I really believe that jazz is the best school to learn music. Why? I think jazz and Blues (In a way the same thing since jazz kind of comes from the blues) helps develop musical instinct that you don't find as much in other genre. Example of this are classically trained singer always sound like classically train singers (there are a few exceptions). Jazz training open possibilities.
I loved your reaction, Ceci. You have such a heart for Angelina. There's no question this vocal is amazing. I also really enjoyed the relaxation in Angelina's body, and how obviously comfortable she was. I, like you, really hope she never goes completely away from her jazz, but whatever this young woman decides to do in future, we all know, she'll do it incredibly well.

There is a huge concert coming to Central Park in NY August 21st. All the big names in music. It would be great if UMG,and Republic Records had enough clout to get Angelina in for just 1 song, that's all she would need to show the music industry they have a new star, especially if she sang a number like this. They were sold out in the spring of 2020! And, unfortunately, her concert's again postponed, now until 2022. I was going to Norway for that concert (and a little sightseeing).

It is always special when you listen to a new performance. Recently l listened to her cover of Gloria Gaynor's l Will Survive. Amazing mastery of technique. Video says 2016 but l think it is more likely a little later. You can hear the nuances and ornaments she is adding to her repertoire.
My guess is 2018 for the Gloria song.
