This video is from an outstanding experience I had when I was 18! I went to live in upstate New York for about a month with a group of youth who all came together in preparation for an international gathering that was to take place in Italy, called Genfest 1995.
“Gen” is the name given to the youth of the Focolare Movement that stand for a new generation of people dedicated to spreading love and unity among people of all faiths, races and backgrounds.
In Italy, I believe the gathering had over 20,000 people from all over the world and was televised to hundreds of thousands, if not millions. Many countries prepared dances and songs, or shared moving and often difficult to recount experiences on how they chose love and unity over all else. It was an experience I will never forget.
For the United States’ contribution to the event we danced, wrapped and sang. I skipped over the wrapping and dancing and jumped to the singing for this video... Enjoy!
