I recently bought one of these for college, specced identically for the most part, just with 32GB of ram and the RTX 4000 Ada GPU. It's definitely overkill but I really love the build quality, performance, and the expandability of this thing. Looking forward to using this over the next few years.
@@bag2963 didn’t really mean it as max you can own it as long as it’s upgradable I’m rocking my pc for 7 years! I’ve got an old precision that is 6 years
I had M6500 in the past and it was horrible (huge issues with overheating and overall quality). Since 2018 I am working on 7520 with ECC RAM and it's flawless! Never had any issues with it. It's probably the best laptop I ever had so far.
I don't like the fact that the laptop's monitor is locked to a refresh rate of just *_60 Hz,_* despite the rest of its specs being incredibly decent overall. That's not good for gaming.
Hi I didn’t submit them online. Drop me an email and I can send you the results. As for thermals I only tested during gaming. I don’t have a thermal reader. I have the laptop for another week so if you need me to test something let me know. My email is ict.workz.uk@gmail.com

Are all drivers up to date ? That can cause the fans to run but it shouldn’t be running hot . The one I reviewed is with engineers now and they haven’t complained …. Yet 👀
@@i.c.t_workz it is up to date and it was set up by the it guy who knows his stuff. A lot of colleagues complain about it getting very hot while doing nothing, cpu at 5 10 max 15% etc. If I unplug it it is fine. When I plug it in it starts heating up
@@otdosa is power settings set to best performance? It needs to maybe be on power saving so it doesn’t run the fans when doing nothing ? Your IT guy (like us all) would go for best performance…
@@i.c.t_workz I think the issue lies here. It is a company "imposed" power plan, balanced with settings I cannot reach. Even so I can click the battery when plugged in and set it to "best battery life" but it still gets very hot. Balanced - same..perf. Same. Very hot
On the inside of the panel there is a blue plastic bit that locks the door into position. Believe I removed that which allowed the door to close then I put the plastic part back in.
my thoughts. hot garbage. literally a dumpster fire. they get hot we had one fail after 2 days need a motherboard replacement poor thing cooked itself. We did set turbo mode off and in thermal to cool instead of optimized , still feels very hot
I can’t imagine our one will get enough use for it to get that hot ! But another reason why it’s important to get the warranty with these but you shouldn’t have to use it. Hopefully they change some design aspect for better cooling!
Very poor thermal management. The keyboard can serve as a heater when do nothing. If you sleep and have a nightmare, the fan will stop running, the CPU will continue to heat up, and the entire computer will seem like it's about to explode. Note that it is the entire computer, including the screen. and I also change motherboard, then change right fan within 1 months from I buy it.
Seriously bad laptop, generation after generation is getting worse. Power is good, but battery life after one year is 30-60 minutes, heating is big issue, even when you do nothing. Part of the problem is design of the legs, laptop sits too low on the desk, so fans can't get enough air (intake is at bottom). They removed dedicated keys from keyboard, especially Home, End, Page Up/Down, this is very annoying thing if you use it for work. Also merge function keys with volume/brightness functions, this used to be done on cheapest laptops, but why the hell on top of the line laptop. Battery is not easily replaceable, need to remove numerous screws. Only two usb-b ports, very crappy RJ45 port.
I have a 7700 series that I will be using for longer term so I will do a long term review. I'll note these down and see if I come across the same problems. I have heard stories about bad heat issues.
These are terrible benchmark results. Looks like nothing has improved from the previous gen Dell Precision, and this one is still a thermal throttling mess.
I work for a engineering company and for the most part I haven’t heard any bad experiences especially regarding thermals . I have however noticed it being extremely hot during gaming. I suspect during 3d cad work it won’t get as hot as it does during gaming or processes that are constantly thrashing the cpu and gpu.
I have bought dell precision full loaded 6 years ago, never crashes, loads like brand new, never had any problems with it. Definitely will work many years to come 💪🏽
Great video but why dose he sound like that, it sorta seems like the script was AI generated and then a retared is reading it out, like why do you sound so dead
Another great informative video. Slight audio distortion on your voice over but clear enough to understan what you was saying. 👍👍👍👍

How long foes the battery last with normal daily tasks.. do you say 6 hours?
Yes 6 hours using the modern office profile on PC mark benchmark. So not quiet a full working day 👀

Thanks for the feedback my mouth was literally a inch from the mic but I’ll be altering that now!
This is 12th gen intel right ? 7780 would be 13th gen intel
Not sure if this one has thunderbolt ports, my idea is to plug an external gpu for gaming and so since this one has only Ada
its got 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, let me know if it works but depending on what GPU you get, it will game :)

I speak under correction but the rtx ada 5000 is similar to annrtx 4090 mobile.
It's kinda a waste to have this powerful cpu at only 75-80W TGP. HP's and Lenovo's are 105W TGP.

What's up with the ports on the side? Dumb. The necessary ports should all be at the rear of the machine. What an awful design.
The back is used for venting which is a better design rather than the heat being forced out from below.
