      Tom you have a great channel with a great wealth of knowledge here. I just want to point out that with the work Swing Catalyst, Dr. Scott Lynn, Mike Adams, and Terry Rowles are doing; the front-post you are highlighting is only a third of the story. It works for you most likely because your natural strong body pivot is one of being a front-post golfer and you were fighting it with movements for a rear-post golfer Again, you have great stuff out here; but it does not work for everybody. There are three major post types out there: Front-Post, Rear-Post, and Center-Post. Just something to think about.

    I have been playing golf since I was 8 years old(27 years). I went on a golf trip in July and was ready to quit the game. I had hit rock bottom. A friend recommended checking out your channel and I haven’t looked back since! I’m a full blown stack and tilt believer now. In the past 3 months I’ve made my first hole in 1 and have shot multiple rounds in the 70’s. Heck, today I randomly got paired with a PGA teaching professional and beat him(shot 73). My ball striking has never been so consistent and so pure. Thank you, Tom. Thank you for making me enjoy playing a game that I love so much.

      So then why tinker around, Erik?..... 😎
      Seriously, this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      Thousands of folks across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning this swing system through my online school, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).
      Have you checked out my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” yet? It is a great starting point for learning some key aspects of this swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/
      Embrace the system, embrace the process, and you will soon embrace ownership of a well-functioning swing and the resulting ball striking bliss it provides!

    Hitting off the front leg is ideal way to have great compression of the golf ball and consistent setup to the ball. The reason some want to continue hitting from the back leg is because they don't want to admit they have been doing it all wrong for years and would rather be full of pride vs change. It's a different ball game when we're coming out of our shoes to find a 60-yard wide "fairway" once or twice in ten swings...

    Just have to add that I had an AMAZING practice session with this today. I had been trying weight shift for more power for awhile now, but forget that, I'm sticking with this. Focusing on keeping the weight on the front foot AND moving the tailbone to the target produced CRIMINAL results today. I hit farther than usual for my pitch shot and it was so much easier. I added the forward-forward-forward idea from your other video (getting even more weight forward in the downswing), and focusing on bowing the left hand a bit through impact so I could mash the ball down and get compression. I then got the right knee kicking in to the right spot too, and WOW! I felt like I mimicked Hogan's backswing pretty well today. I'm definitely sticking with this!! Thanks again!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 года назад +2

      @DJ-Flights - That's AWESOME!! Nice job incorporating those keys into your swing. Yes - a common misconception is that you must shift your weight to generate power. Wrong. For most golfers it simply breeds inconsistency. Keeping the weight forward preserves the swing center and keeps the low point intact (consistency), and we are then able to tap the power of swinging in a circle by harnessing the tremendous force of angular momentum ("criminal" distance).
      Thanks for sharing your results and keep up the great work!!
      Tom

    • @dj-flights7376

      Remember back in the day when nearly every football kicker used to approach the ball straight on? (I don't, but my dad tells me about it...) They don't do that anymore, and it's not because they're all converted soccer players. It's been proven through physics and geometry that the angular approach produces far greater force, and as a result in the modern game field goals of 50+ yards are routine now.
      It's not just "real" power; when properly executed it will feel like seemingly effortless power!

    Tom, this is your best video ever! I've been playing golf for 57 years. I can say, from personal experience after going through a series of GolfTec lessons (stack & tilt) 4 years ago, the hardest part of the transition is to keep you weight from shifting to the trail leg in the back swing. Whenever I drift back to the old swing (really old!), I focus on the fundamentals in the initial takeaway, and I get back on track. This lesson really reinforces this import move. Thank you!

    A few months ago I discovered StackNTilt and it changed my game for the better. However over this last month I have taken a few steps backwards, my pure CRISPY KFC shots were becoming harder to come bye. I couldn’t figure out what was going wrong, I seemed to be doing all of the key things that the stack and tilt teaches. Finally today on the practice range I figured it out ,because of one of your videos that I went back to yesterday, it occurred to me that maybe my lead arm was not staying straight, I knew it was straight in my backswing but it was NOT staying straight during the downswing and through impact. Once I concentrated on keeping it straight throughout the entire swing I began hitting pure shots once again. This flaw wasn’t something you keyed in on but rather something you just kind of blurted out while being a little silly. Either way whenever I start to get away from hitting my irons decent I just revert back to your instruction. Thanks much for making golf fun again!👍👍

    I have an interesting story about weight foreword. I am a lefty, age 72 with two herniated discs in my lower back. My normal score between 96 and 103. Two years ago I had my left knee replaced. Four and a half weeks after surgery I played a round of golf. I hobbled I didn’t walk. Left hander and a new left knee replacement so you better believe I was keeping as much weight foreword as possible. I shot 89. Even with all my other crappy habits at that time I lowered my score by 14 strokes. And now after watching your weight foreword video I understand why.

    I do this on every swing, I close my front side slightly, it works very well!
    I was doing this with my 5 wood but could never hit it right. I was to close to the ball! Backed up used the same swing as my irons, works great! 70% on the front side eliminates all the shifting, resulting in poor contact.
    Great tip! Game changer!

      Unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎
      Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of modern “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness, and I'm very glad to know that it is resonating with you!

    Find myself shifting my lower side back and actually striking it well while staying behind a little bit. End up hooking all of ‘em. Must just get that weight forward and rotate the hips back instead of a small slide. Such small margins but so crucial! Great video. Thank you, Sir.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад

      Yep - keeping that weight moving forward - *_properly_* - should straighten those shots out for you, Alwyn. We start with our weight forward (55/45 for the short and mid irons; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward. The upper torso/head - and thus the swing center - remains in place during the increasing forward weight load in the downswing. This enables the golfer to "clear" while keeping the club moving on the proper in-to-out path.
      This system certainly allows for some transfer of pressure into the trail side during the takeaway. After all, we are moving the mass of the arms and club backwards during that initial stage of the swing. Some like to sense the dynamic pressure shifts; others prefer the feel of a gradual increasing of weight load into the lead leg from the start. However, in either scenario the key here is that we do not allow our swing center and low point to drift back at any point.

    Hi Tom, Thank you so much for this video insight. I too struggled with inconsistent strikes upon returning to regular golfing after spending years raising a young family.
    A former single digit handicap golfer I have been frustrated in renewed efforts to devote more time to this game I love.
    Similar to what you describe, I focused on my old swing thoughts, especially to “coil” behind the ball. While this was effective in the past, with age and less suppleness, my swing turned inconsistent.
    This focus of staying over the ball immediately made sense to my situation and has had an instant positive impact on my swing and ball striking.
    Thank you for your unique and insightful lessons that you share! They are all great, especially this one. Golf is fun again!!!

    I’m loving the concept of staying on the left side as I’ve always struggled weight shift and timing. I’m now adopting it in my swing. So I’m setting up with weight on the left, staying on the left side, keeping my head centred and getting good shoulder tilt on the back swing. I’m just struggling a bit how to start the downswing .

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  8 месяцев назад

      I'm very glad to know that the weight-forward concept is resonating with you, Gary!
      Now, how to initiate the downswing is a loaded question because it is so dependent on individual tendencies that I cannot give a generalized answer. If I tell you that it's a lateral hip slide but your downswing already naturally has sufficient forward force, then you'll hit pushes and/or hooks all day long, and if I tell you to rotate your hips but you are already naturally applying enough outward force, then your destination is pull/slice city. I could also say the shoulders, or dropping the hands, or getting the lead arm off the chest, or rolling your trail foot targetward, or increasing pressure into the lead leg, etc.
      In other words, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that performs effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and results. This is why I routinely recommend the online school - saguto.golf - to anyone who truly wishes to experience the joys of consistent, powerful, body-friendly ball striking bliss. The sequential lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness.
      So, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system, then my best suggestion is that you consider my online school. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.

    Just watching this video for the first time because I tried this the other night at the range and it also completely changed my game. Wanted to see if anybody else on RUclips had a video about this and you’re the only one I can find. And it’s game changing . Glad I got some confirmation. Consistent ball flights with very crisp compression. The only club I’m having trouble with now is my driver. Is it the same swing basically? Also where do you have the ball set up in your stance for driver?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  6 месяцев назад +1

      Nice job figuring this out on your own, Joshua, and I'm glad to provide validation of your discovery! The notion of a “weight” shift in the golf swing has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration. In fact, here is Jack Nicklaus on weight shift: "I don't believe in a lateral shift," says Nicklaus. "Of course not. I believe in staying on the ball." Asked what he thinks about teachers who advocate a weight shift, he answers, "They don't know how to play." Now, there is certainly an allowance for a transfer of “pressure” into the trail side. After all, we are moving the mass of the arms and club back and around us during the takeaway and backswing. Some like to sense the dynamic pressure shifts; others prefer the feel of a gradual increasing of weight load into the lead leg from the start. However, in either scenario the key here is that we do not allow our mass - and thereby our swing center and low point - to drift back at any point. In the swing I teach we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs), gradually add more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful motion.
      Yes - it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html
      As for ball position, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape
      Here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some aspects of the system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ This will provide a nice foundational understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag.

      I appreciate your validating remarks! Indeed, the need for a weight shift in the golf swing is one of the greatest fallacies ever taught, and it has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration. To be clear, this system certainly allows for some transfer of pressure into the trail side during the takeaway. This is a huge tip that improved my golf swing. I had done this before but didn't realize it was the weight being on the front foot that made those crips shots. My best shots are done when I don't over complicate the swing.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад +1

      The golf swing is indeed overly complicated in particular by one part of the human body - the brain and all the swing nonsense and misguided instruction it has been fed. Garbage in, garbage out; and countless golf swings have sadly been trashed as a result. This is not saying that golf is "easy" as it most certainly is anything but. The way I see it, we can either simply put the already existing natural laws to work and thereby build a powerful, body-friendly, repeatable, low-maintenance motion, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball!

Since using your tutorials my game is changed drastically. Reaching new territories was only a dream, now is reality. I used to do this before, and just returned to it. My timing/weight transfer was too inconsistent, but my chipping/short game was great…. And I always kept my weight in my front foot. So I started setting up with my other clubs more like I was hitting a chip shot, with the weight forward, and even a half shot was only about 20 yards short of my average…. Then started taking full shots, and was hitting much more consistent, and just as far, and not over the top anymore. Now I am more in to out, and my miss is a push right, instead of a low pull hook left (like 60-90 yards offline left, yikes)

    by keeping the swing arc in the same location the sweet spot is accessed more reliably. this improves everything.
    I still have difficulty keeping over the ball with driver and 3W but the irons are so much better.

      @SagutoGolf  2 года назад +1

      You got it, Tom!! I know it sounds like a strange concept to those who have only ever subscribed to a swing model that is based on shifting weight back and forth, but if instead we can ingrain that gradually increasing load onto the lead side the result will be a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing.
      It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some driving range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.
      Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously.

    Hi Tom . . . your instructional vids have been very helpful... been trying for two or three seasons to work out a solid single-plane swing...started with Graves, then Junge, and stumbled across one of your videos a couple of months ago... I'm hooked! Informative and entertaining, and seemingly easier and more sensible - less clinical than the others.
    I picked up a set of single-length clubs a little while back, thinking one swing would go further in being consistent. Sadly, I've still been struggling with my point of contact.
    You mentioned in one of your videos about turning the elbows outward (upward)... I've found, within the last couple of weeks, that if I focus on ensuring my left elbow is facing outward, I can't bend my arm, can more easily keep my relationship to the ball, and have started hitting crispy more regularly, and mostly in the direction I'm intending. Still have more practice to do, but this really has made a difference in my feeling like I'm "playing golf" instead of trying to make a good swing. And that's way more fun.
    Thank you for your efforts - I'm sure it's helping a lot of folks like me!

      Hi Ron,
      I sincerely appreciate your kind words and I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating well with you!! Yes - "pitting" those elbows at setup will really help you to keep that lead arm - which along with the shaft represents the radius of your swing circle - to remain straight as it should, while placing your trail arm in position to fold correctly and set the club on a proper and powerful downswing path. Nice job figuring that out!!
      There are golfers in my online school - including some excellent players - who absolutely swear by their single-length irons in our Members Forum Community and attest to them being a perfect fit for this swing system.
      Speaking of which, have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? How interesting and sad it is, David, that with all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the club, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). We're doing our best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness.
      In this particular case, yes indeed - having the weight forward ensures that we keep our swing center and low point intact - both of which are key components for achieving consistently crispy ball striking.
      By the way, have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level courses on shot shaping, power and distance, and much more. Great advice, would you do the same with woods and driver? Keep weight forward?
    Thanks

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад

      I'm glad you enjoyed it, Brett, and yes - absolutely! The weight-forward component also applies to the driver and woods. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html
      I am aware that many folks out there believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact.
      So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )
      For these reasons I do not advocate trying to hit up on the ball, and efforts to do so due to erroneous advice has caused many an amateur significant issues with their driver.
      By the way, here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some aspects of the system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ This will provide a nice foundational understanding of the swing keys that will ultimately get you mashing the ball through your entire bag.

      @@jonaspaulsson9912 just an idea as I had the same thing. Try putting the ball back more in the stance. So I tried this today at the range. And wow! My ball striking improved immensely. My occasional miss hit was a thin shot that went straight but still, I'll take it. On a side note, I never seem to take a divot, even when I hit with flush contact. What or what isn't this an indication of in my swing? Any feedback is appreciated. Love your instructional videos btw!

      With regard to taking a divot after the ball, this is certainly preferred since it is a strong indicator of true crispy compression. If you've never really taken divots before - and if your misses tend to be thin as you indicated - then it may simply be a matter of getting used to keeping the weight moving increasingly forward throughout the motion without losing your swing center. When you are able to consistently brush the grass in the same spot on your practice swings, you'll know that you are getting there.

      I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, John, and I sincerely appreciate the online school testimonial!!
      With regard to target distances, we shouldn't necessarily use other golfers as a baseline as there are so many individual variables involved. Beyond that, when trying to ingrain the swing motions any contrived efforts to obtain more speed/distance can throw the sequencing out of whack and actually have a counter effect. Once you are comfortable with the swing and able to just trust it and let it go, you will experience gains in your yardages with seemingly minimal effort - perhaps even dramatic gains as so many are experiencing. At that point there are additional power accumulators that can be incorporated into the swing, and there are speed training exercises available as well.
      Now, having said that, you will find some of my yardages in this episode documenting my professional fitting session from a year ago: ruclips.net/video/xp2c-oYQRVI/видео.html

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад +1

      I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, James, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice!
      Yes - This swing key also applies to the driver. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  9 месяцев назад

      That's *OUTSTANDING* - congrats on your new personal best!! 💪💪
      In the swing system I teach we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs). We achieve this by addressing the ball "stacked", shoulders over hips over knees with our weight balanced 50/50. We then simply bump our hips 1" towards the target while keeping everything else in place. That presets a little more weight forward while retaining the stacked relationship. During the swing we gradually add more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. The upper torso/head - and thus the swing center - remains in place during the increasing forward weight load in the downswing. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing.

      @SagutoGolf  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Jason!
      It's a 7 iron, and sometimes the camera angle in these videos provides a skewed perspective of the actual ball position. While you do have some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. For example, my personal preference for the shorter clubs tends to be a position that is slightly forward of prescribed.

    I knew about this but didn’t implement really till yesterday and was striking my irons pure. There was a couple shots where I kinda twirled after my follow thru with having my weight forward so I have to work on balanced finish.

      I’ve never hit my irons so good I always had a great swing or so I felt and couldn’t find any consistency but after practicing this just for a few rounds now I’m hitting my irons amazing. I think this will get me to single digit handicap now and also was working great with my driver. I feel like I don’t have to swing very hard now either and the ball goes farther

    Sir...I am a member and have stopped listening to other RUclips teachers. Your comments really resonate with me. This video keeps saying hit off the left side, hit off the front side, and certainly I get it. I've been victim of the "fire and fall away" swing many times. But, can you give us a hint as to what percent of weight needs to be over that front foot? I am 50/50 right now and sway back seldom coming back to the correct center. Front foot weight, something like 65/35?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 года назад

      I'm very glad to have you on board as a channel member, Bill!
      In the swing system I teach you start with your weight forward (55/45 on the front side; 60/40 for the longer clubs), increase that same weight forward to the top of the backswing (70/30), and further increase the forward weight during the downswing from halfway down (80/20) through impact (90/10) and to the finish at 95/5 forward. There's no "weight shift"; instead it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful swing.
(Also, through the school you would still have access to the KFC Club channel member videos, so if you were to enroll there would be no need to maintain both memberships.) So many folks across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. Hitting from the front leg applies as well when using a Driver?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад

      Absolutely! In fact, with the longer clubs we actually begin with slightly more weight forward as this encourages a shallower path. It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ruclips.net/video/o0xscMyN3v8/видео.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.
      Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. This works so well. But i really had to exaggerate all my weight forward. Thats what it felt like but probably wasnt the case. Anyway i started hitting the ball so good with the same flight everytime and i was about 15 yards a club longer easy. This is just wild im going to sign up for this program

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 года назад

      That's awesome - Excellent job incorporating this lesson into your swing!!
      Yes - since most of us were accustomed to shifting into our trail side, there is oftentimes a need to really exaggerate the weight-forward "feel" early in the learning process. This is why there is a drill you'll see in the school titled "90% Weight Forward/Arms Straight".
      I'm very glad to know that you'll be enrolling in the school!! Here's some preliminary advice to help you get off to a good start:
      1) Regardless of a member's skill level, this swing necessitates a complete reboot for someone transitioning from a shift & lift swing (which is typically the case), and therefore it is imperative that one take sufficient time to ensure that the fundamental components are mastered. From the ground up there is nothing superfluous in the Stack & Tilt swing - in other words, everything with a purpose, and a purpose for everything. (For example, contrary to shift & lift where you may be taught to keep your trail foot perpendicular to the target line as a means of "creating resistance" in your trail side, in S&T we flare both feet out 10-20 degrees in order to facilitate a free flowing, inclined hip and shoulder turn.) I cannot emphasize this enough, as frustrations predominantly occur when students jump ahead in the curriculum without properly dedicating themselves to the foundational base upon which our consistently repeatable, powerful, low maintenance swing must be built. Chapter 1 of the Golf Swing Simplified program (GSS) and Part I of Get Out & Go Play (GOGP) both address this.
      2a) GSS: One of the many great things about this swing is that you can achieve solid ball striking even at the most basic levels. This is why I oftentimes will suggest that students park themselves on Chapter 2 of the GSS course for an extended period of time after locking down Chapter 1's foundational elements. Chapter 2 reinforces the body motions and the weight-forward component, and it culminates with what I call "The Best Golf Swing Practice Drill of All Time". Work yourself sequentially and gradually through the chapter, and then commit yourself to that drill in Lesson 2.8. Learn it. Practice it. Master it. You can even use this partially abbreviated swing on the course and play quite well with it as it will provide plenty of distance. (It actually is the full swing minus just a couple of power accumulators.) Once you've got that down, you will be well prepared to move forward in the curriculum and well on your way towards taking ownership of YOUR swing!
      2b) GOGP: This quick-start program is exactly as it sounds - it is designed to fast-track you out onto the course so you can have fun - and success - playing as you learn! Should you choose this path, everything in #1 above still applies, and as implied above in 2a you will still want to work through it sequentially and gradually, mastering each lesson before moving ahead to the next one. In this program, Drill #5 - The Flying Wedge is the one you'll want to park yourself on and nail down.
      3) Also, as you progress always keep in mind the V1 Swing Video Analysis, an effective and inexpensive service that I highly recommend to everyone in the school. I liken it to bringing your swing into the shop for a tune-up or minor repair. Scheduling one on a quarterly basis for preventive maintenance will do wonders for keeping things humming along nicely, and it's also a great tool for pinpointing and resolving any issues that arise. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf
      4) Finally, please migrate over to the SagutoGolf Community Forum - which is included in your online school enrollment - and begin engaging with your fellow members. It only takes a minute or two to enroll - just go to your “My Courses” screen and you’ll see a link to get started. Once signed in you’ll be able to access and participate in the great dialogue that we are having on a variety of topics. You can start discussions, contribute to existing threads, post specific swing questions, make some new friends, and just share in the common bond of golfers from around the world seeking to improve their games and help others to do the same. I really think you’ll enjoy it!
      I look forward to assisting you through the school’s structured lessons and drills towards building a consistent, low maintenance, powerful, body-friendly swing that will bring your enjoyment of this great game to a new level!

    This is a great video. When Im playing my best, I feel like my lead hip is in complete control and everything else just follows its lead. One pitfall I have is getting center of mass too far forward to soon - when this happens, its actually hard to get lead knee low because its supporting weight and pressure and pushing against it. making sure pressure shift back(without mass moving) then forward has been the big key for me. This has another potential pitfall though - weight can shift with it and stay back, which kills swing as you describe. Ive solved this by ensuring my stance is wide enough (from face on, middle of back ankle straight down outside trail shoulder works for me). The idea is angle formed by center of mass, trail foot, and ground line, where keeping it less than some magic degree number gives me a gravity assist forward that allows me to shift pressure without fear. Put more simply, COM is far enough away from directly on top of your rear leg that it HAS to make you fall towards target.
    Sorry for the TED talk, its just nice to hear someone approach swing from this angle - once you’re off back foot, the feeling of the game changes completely and need for “hitting” effort disappears. Thanks for video.

    @sagutogolf great videos ! I am coming back to the game after a 20 year break from the game. Your tips have helped me improve my strikes for sure but I still find I'm hitting my irons way too high and short (example 7 iron 108 feet high, 140 yards total) trackman numbers.
    Any ideas what I can do to stop this ?

      Welcome back to this great game, Scott!
      I'm very glad to learn of your ball striking improvement. With regard to your ball flight issues, without actually seeing your swing I can only guess that you may be adding loft at impact, which signifies some breakdown of your impact structure (i.e.: flipping the hands through the zone or early extension). Hitting off of your front leg looks like a fantastic way to compress your iron shots. However, does this method also apply to Fairway Woods and your driver?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Год назад

      Yes - the weight-forward component absolutely applies to the driver and fairway woods!
