John Wheeler's 1969 Peterbilt 281 Walk-Around At Truckin' For Kids 2021

  • If I remember correctly, I believe the owner's nephew told me this 281 was a 1969 model that was backdated to look like a 1967. Either way, it was one of my favorites of the entire show this year. An amazingly cool classic old Pete. Seen at the Truckin' For Kids Truck Show in Irwindale, California on September 18th, 2021.

    This truck is a favourite of mine. I am not saying there aren't other nice trucks out there but I love this one in particular! I see it is as a 281.I guess the single driver is still numbered the same as before the 358 was introduced, as it has a tilting hood like the 358 tandem drive units .😊

      I know what you mean, I loved this truck too! I drooled over it for at least 15-mintes before I had to force myself to move on. According to information online, 281's were in production until 1976, so it stands to reason that they should also have gotten the tilting hood as an update.
