Wacken is currently considered the biggest purely metal festival in the world. Visitors from 80 nations. 80,000 people plus personnel. Takes place in the small village of Wacken, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Hamburg. Lasts four days and has been sold out for 15 years in a row. Last year there were 197 bands on nine stages. Nightwish themselves have been around since 1996, Floor Jansen is the third singer, following Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon (who was unloved by quite a few fans). Floor's vocal range is officially C3 - F6 iirc.

Well, you did it, you awakened the Nightwish YT Army =) If you want more Nightwish, there are two paths I would suggest, and that all depends on when you want to hit the "holy trinity." The holy trinity, is Ghost Love Score Live at Wacken 2013 (what you just watched, which is a great introduction), Poet and the Pendulum Live at Wembley, and Greatest Show on Earth Live at Tampere. These three are the reason that I consider Floor Jansen (the current singer) to be one of the best female singers in the world and why I consider Tuomas (the pianist and composer) to be one of the best modern composers. However, they are a lot to take in: Greatest Show on Earth is a massive 20+ minute long magnum opus telling the history of life on planet Earth and Poet and the Pendulum is probably one of the biggest emotional roller coasters I've ever experienced in any form of music (it's the most personal song Tuomas has ever written, being a way to get himself out of a really dark place by expressing all the despair that was inside of him, and then in the end being "resurrected"). I would say if you want to go directly for the other two of the trinity, it is a great way to experience Nightwish, however, if you do, I would suggest looking up the full backstory on Poet and the Pendulum, as it's incredibly well documented online and I think the song hits harder that way (I only gave you the briefest, most barebone summaries).
The other path is more gradual, hitting a few great but shorter songs before heading for the other two of the trinity. I would say you would have fun with Everdream, Live at Wacken 2013; Storytime, Live at Wacken 2013; Phantom of the Opera, End of an Era 2005 (with their original singer, Tarja); Alpenglow, Live at Wembley; Romanticide, Live at Wacken 2013; and The Islander, Live at Tampere (this has much more focus on Marco, their bassist/second vocalist that looks like a viking).
I realize now though that giving you so many options may be a bit much (sorry lol!). I would say then, if you want to experience the high points of Nightwish, then Poet and the Pendulum. If you want a more gradual pace, try Everdream. Either way, to paraphrase a Kevin Costner film, "If you [react to Nightwish], they will come."

Well, "Ghost love score" was your boarding pass to the Nighwish world.
Floor Jansen is one of the best modern time vocalist and there is old saying in the jungle; " Floor changes from low note to high note and back faster than tigers attacks!"
If you check more songs from Nighwish, you will found also other genres like rock, ballads, folk, etc...And sometimes all same song, there is lot of levels on many songs of Nightwish and you will never know where song takes you when listening first time.
Also lyrics of songs are sometimes quite extra ordinary.
And one thing more: Nightwish is live band, even better on live than on record.

    Really enjoyed your reaction :)
And I have a little explanation for the guy rubbing his eyes. He is not bored. Not even tired. Ok, I don't know that, but it's not the reason. This performance was taken on the Wacken Festival with over 80.000 visitors. I've been there a few times in the years before. If it is sunny all day, the ground beneath all these feet gets very dry and there is lot of dust raising even after dusk. If you look closely he licks his hand before he rubs his eyes. This poor guy very likely hasn't seen any water for a few hours and his eyes are constantly under a layer of fine dust, dried out and itching like hell. What he does gives a little relief for a few minutes. I have done that a few times myself on such festival days, that's how I know :D

Oh, yeah. Always love to see a Nightwish virgin being indoctrinated into the tribe. We tend to be a hard-core bunch. Nightwish is notorious for changing keys, tempos, rhythms within a song. The keyboardist, Toumas, writes and composes most of the music, the bassist, Marco, also sings and has a great voice. He has a band, Tarot, where he is the primary vocalist. Floor can change singing styles from one note to another. Growls, operatic, angelic, all in the same sentence.

Great reaction!!! NIGHTWISH IS POSSIBLY THE BEST LIVE BAND ON THE PLANET!!! AND FLOOR JANSEN IS A METAL GODDESS!!!
If you want to grow your channel then doing Nightwish reactions will help a lot. Nightwish fans are among the most loyal, enthusiastic, and engaged fans you will find. We love to share their music with others and we support others in our Nightwish community. The live versions are generally the most beloved so always try to react to a live version if possible. If you want the most bang for your buck view wise I would do these reactions in this order.
“Song of myself” live at Wacken 2015
    “Everdream” live at Wacken 2013
    “Romanticide” live at wacken 2013
    “Storytime” live at Wacken 2013
“Weak fatasy” live at Tampere 2015
“The Poet and the Pendulum” live at Wembley 2015 (you have to pause this one regularly because of copyright issues)
“The greatest show on earth” live at Tampere 2015
“Yours is a empty hope” live at Tampere 2015
“ I want my tears back” live at wacken 2013
“Seven days to the Wolves” live at Wembley 2015
    “Amaranth” live a wacken 2013
If you want to check out an song performed by their original singer Tarja watch:
“The Phantom of the Opera” live End of a Era DVD it’s pretty amazing.
And there are so many more... Anything from the live shows at wacken 2013, wembley 2015, or Tampere 2015 are great though Floor seemed a bit vocally fatigued in the wembley show. It was the last show of a huge tour to support their album “Endless Forms Most Beautiful”. The one song from wembley that is a absolute must listen is “The Poet and the Pendulum”. In my opinion this is the greatest song Tuomas has ever written and when performed live with Floor it is as emotionally gripping and inspirational as music gets. The arrangement, the lyrics, the instrumental performance, and Floor’s vocal perfection are mind blowing.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Symphonic Metal!!
Nightwish have had 3 lead singers:
Tarja - who was all operatic vocals
Anette - who was mostly pop/rock vocals and finally
Floor - who can do anything and everything, from operatic to low metal growls... she truly is a goddess!
I have personally loved them since around 2004, they are my favourite band and Ghost Love Score is my favourite song of all time. I fell in love with it when Tarja sang the vocals on the studio version, but then Floor came along and made it even more epic!!
A few songs I would recommend:
Nightwish - Romanticide live at Wacken 2013
Nightwish - Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley 2015
Nightwish - Song of Myself live at Wacken 2013
Nightwish - Weak Fantasy live at Tampere 2015
Nightwish - The Greatest Show on Earth live at Tampere 2015
Nightwish - The Phantom of the Opera live at end of an era (with Tarja)

Ann Waychoff is currently absent from RUclips (and the net) here's what she usually posts on these reaction videos (great reactions, btw):
quote I am so glad you liked this song, Floor Jansen the singer, Jukka the drummer, Tuomas the keyboard player, composer and lyric writer for 95% of their music, Emppu the guitarist, Marco the bassist and vocals and Troy multi-instrumentalist and vocals. I saw them in concert about a year ago. They are amazing live. If you do more of their songs do the live versions. They are better than the studio versions. They had two singers before Floor. Tarja that you saw in the Phantom of the Opera video was their 1st singer. Then Annette was 2nd. Now you have Floor 3rd and current singer. Floor showed a lot of her diversity as a singer. It is worth hearing more of her. Not that Amy Lee is not a
great singer, but in my opinion Floor''s vocal range is better than hers. I hope this information helped. I have been a sub for a while. Really enjoy your channel. I know you have many requests and the Nightwish fans are going to inundate you with them. So I will let you choose one of their's.

Agree with previous comment, that guy was crying more than likely. If you watch Phantom of The Opera, (it's their first singer, Tarja. Both her and Floor are masters of making people cry) you'll catch 2 girls in the front row crying, and I've seen plenty of reactors cry, especially at Poet and the pendulum. Read a little band history before you watch that one though. Also, you'll have to throw a few pauses in to avoid a copyright strike. They don't have to be long ones, they just have to be there. (preferably during one of the transitions ) Enjoyed this. Thanks :)

    Heey, new Nightwish reactor.🤗🤩
Hey there. I'm glad you liked that. The band is absolutely astonishing. They are one of the pioneers of symphonic metal and quite popular in Europe.
I really like the diversity of this band, they could sound so much different, depending on the song. Also, musically, they are just on another level. Everything is so perfect, melody, rhythm and voice. And yes, many reviewers and vocal coaches say that her voice sounds kinda angelic in this song.😍😍😍😇 This song was recorded @ their Wacken 2013 liveset, all of which is an absolute masterpiece and is nonetheless a must-see.
Me, and all other Nightwish fans, who came to see your reaction, would be glad to see more of your reactions on their songs. I would recommend their The Greatest Show On Earth live performance from Tampere, if you liked Ghost Love Score, i reckon you would like TGSOE too...😍🥰☺️ Everdream, Alpenglow, Last Ride of the Day also are great for those, not familiar with their music. Also, I want my tears back, again so different sound, with some folky twist because of bagpipes and some dancy vibe.

Oh trust me, they also do screamo and sometimes even growls, but it's never self-serving. The singer can do all of it, from growls through operatic, raspy, to pop-ish, she is unusually versatile. The viking-looking bass player also has an amazing voice of many colours, they often play with the combination of vocals. All of the members are great musicians. The keyboardist composes most of the music, including the orchestration. They have a huge range of expression, and whatever they do tends to make sense in the song. This is exactly the kind of a band to show to somebody who thinks that they can never enjoy metal.

Seen this band live like 15 times. I also was on the premier of this show DVD where the drummer Jukka Nevalainen and the singer Floor Jansen attended and had the pleasure to meet them aswell. Jukka is a really nice guy! He's also my favorite drummer. He's not the most technical but he's playing is real treat to watch. The orchestral music your hear from the backing track is recorded with a real orchestra - The London Symphonic Orchestra - that also recorded the score of the Lord of the Rings. The main guy behind the songs is the keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. He is referred as "Modern Mozart" and you can understand why 🤘

This song is part of "Once", a beautiful album by Nightwish, in this album they hired the Philarmonic London Orchestra (The same from the Lord of the rings) and a full choir. This particular song is written in 4/4 at the beginning, but in the bridge it changes to a 3/4 which is basically a "Metal Waltz". There's a romantic legend background to this song, some people believe (they've found some clues on the lyrics) "Ghost love Score" is about the love the keyboardist and composer from Nightwish Tuomas Holopainen had for their first singer Tarja Turunen. Some people believe Tuomas used to call her "a Siren" because of her angelical voice:
"A siren from the deep came to me
    Sang my name my longing
Still I write my songs about that dream of mine
Worth everything I may ever be".
And, Welcome to Nightwish Fantasy world!!!

Nightwish has been around since the 90s. Over the years they have had 3 female lead singers. Tarja - operatic- Nemo, Sleeping Sun, Phantom of the Opera,; then Annette - popish - Amaranthe, Bye Bye Beautiful, Storytime; and Floor the singer you just listened to. Poet and the Pendulum, Romaticide, Greatest Show on Earth. Marco, bass, also sings and has an amazing voice. Toumas - keyboards - writes 95% of their music. Juka - drums, recently (due to health reasons) moved into management for the band. Kai - drums replaced Juka. Emppu - guitarist and shortest member of band. Troy - pipes/vocals was a recent addition to Nightwish. (if ANN W. was here, she could tell you about Nightwish so much better.)

Thanks for reacting to this floorgasmic perfloormance by Nightwish. Once their passionate fans spot this reaction, you'll be spending a lot of time reacting to this band that has had three amazing female soprano vocalists since they started in 1996. Their first singer, Tarja Turunen, was a classically trained soprano. She was replaced in 2005 by Anette Olzon, who had a more pop/rock voice, and their current female lead vocalist Floor Jansen first joined them in 2012, but was made an official member a year later. This is her standing 181 cm tall barefoot with a voice so versatile that she can sing anything from pop to opera. Also her stage presence is amazing.
