  • I did a talk at the Dublin Comics Arts Festival October event, about using notebooks as a place to mess around and develop ideas.

Brilliant presentation mate. I always found it hard to keep a sketch book during art school too as out homework load was waay to much to manage and do that as well though i am trying to get better at this habit. Your stuff is fantastic please keep it up :)

Thanks Anthony, I'm glad you liked it! I think the takeaway I'd want people to get from this video is that sketchbooks are for learning and messing around and figuring things out too, and they don't have to look beautiful in the end! I hope you manage to build the habit and you get some value out of keeping a notebook :)

@@DrawBoySeanie yeah this is exactly what I took away from the talk. As stated the problem with seeing the likes of those other (what i would call curated sketch books) is that it creates unrealistic expectations within artists to be perfect when the creative process is less than perfect. This is something I have come to realise overtime though I am working more and more at it as I get older. It's nice to see that someone else has had the same realisation as me though and has embraced the chaos of the process. Keep up the amazing work man would love to see some narrated process videos.
