    Thanks for doing this quickly! Sometimes tutorial videos can be frustrating when something can be demonstrated in two minutes and they stretch it into a 30 min video! I really appreciate videos like this!

    Thanks for this video!! I really love a pendant of mine but despise the chain and clasp due to the difficulty to put on in a hurry and the clasp scratching my skin when wearing. Cutters will usually list the gauge of wire you can cut with them, so a heavier pair of cutters might be in order. What exactly are you trying to cut and then I can try to make a suggestion.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  9 лет назад

    @blah blah It really depends on what type of pendant you have. If it is something like a Swarovski Crystal pendant or similar style pendant with a hole at the top, then you can add a bail to the pendant which will then allow you to attach it to the ball chain. Here is a video showing how to use a pinch bail www.beadaholique.com/t-video-How-To-Use-A-Pinch-Bail.aspx but there are other types of bails available as well www.beadaholique.com/c-61559-pendant-bails.aspx. I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can provide any other information.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  3 года назад

      It should, so far every size of ball chain we've worked with uses the same basic construction technique. With larger chain you may need a stronger industrial pair of wire cutters

  • @nathandrake2708

    Hello, I've been looking everywhere for a video to help and this one was the one! I have a question, I purchased a 12mm ball chain necklace but I want to remove 4 ball beads. Will doing the same but with a bigger cutting tool work as well? I'm afraid that if I do it will mess up the entire ball chain.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  4 года назад

      This is tricky. The largest ball chain we carry is just 2.4mm and I don't want to generalize anything about that to 12mm ball chain. Sometimes when you scale something up you have to change construction techniques. What I'd suggest is to find a piece of standard 2mm ball chain and really study them together with fresh eyes. Does the 12mm chain move in the same way as the 2mm chain? Can the bars retract to the same depth? If they behave exactly the same then you can be reasonably confident that they're constructed in the same way and can be cut in a similar fashion.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  10 лет назад

      Flush cutters can cut through aluminum in general, but it would depend on the thickness of the item you're trying to cut through. Our flush cutters are only recommended for use on metal up to 18 gauge.

    • @beadaholique

      Most cutters being sold for general jewelry work right now are too small and light to handle newer larger styles of ball chain. I'd recommend looking at industrial pliers used for cutting wire and chain, the sort of tool you'd find in hardware stores. Knipex is a good brand I've used for similar work.

      Do we need that type of cutter to cut it?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  8 лет назад

      This is not a difficult chain to cut through and any cutter should work. The only cutter I might recommend against is a Lindstrom cutter just because that is such a precision cutter (and more expensive) and you might want to keep the blade and tip as pristine as possible for your detail work - but that's up to you, Lindstroms will cut this chain as well. Please note though that I am referring to the ball chain we are selling as being a fairly easy chain to cut through, I know there are heavier duty ones on the market made of tougher metals and I can't speak to how hard or easy they are to cut. I hope this helps!

      You can extend it by adding another clasp and length of ball chain. So you would essentially have a length of chain, a clasp, a length of chain, and another clasp connect to the original length of chain as well as the new one.
