Pete Maravich, Ball Handling and Passing
In terms of the modern day 1 or 2 guards (PG and SG) No man was more influential, in a 7 year span he torched the league in route to changing the game of how you can bring a little flash to the game.
His court vision is with Magic, with his behind the back plays, underhanded high velocity half court passes, behind the back passes, athletic steals that led to scoring in transition. Also, his fluidity on how he moved with the ball was then copied and improved upon by every player after him.
His shooting ability was second to none, Pete had the SMOOTHEST mid-range jump shot. Being able to chuck up shots quickly, and damn near hit over 50% of them.
He also did this on 2 horrid knees, genetics he inherited from his family. Which cut his promising career short.

Mikan is the person who revolutionised the Center position. Shaq said it best" Without number 99 there is no me" .
Bob Cousy set the standard for a great Point Guard.
Russell changed the game from a horizontal one to a vertical one.
Elgin was the first high flying artist. He is the one who inspired DR. J.

Bird showed you can strike fear into the hearts of the opponent by staying outside the three point line.

Wilt wasn't alley ooping his freethrows to himself, he was dunking them from behind the ft line because time before he even got into college self alleyooping the ball off the backboard was already outlawed in NCAA and NBA. In 1956 (Wilt's first year in college) the NCAA changed the rule that stated that you can,t touch the flor infront of the ft line before shooting the ball to having to shoot the ball from inside the semicircle, and the NBA did the same exact change (from not touching the floor infront of the ft line before shooting to having to shoot from behind the lane) in the offseason after Wilt's first year, though both Wilt and his coach Neil Johnston thought the change had already been done by the time Wilt arrived to the league so he didn't try it once in the NBA, and while in college he could only try it in a practice because Kansas State (the other Kansas college) coach Ted Winter saw Wilt try it at least once in practice and rushed the NCAA commitee to change the rule before Wilt played a single NCAA game. And there are articles on this topic. Also the rule about inbounding over the backboard was changed for the NCAA and NBA while Wilt was in college. And fun fact Wilt was using the one legged fadeaway every game in the 60s, because it was his go to move when he was outside the paint in the left side of the court, but he mainly bankshotted it

when you say the floor, well your verbiage is a little different. i always just said he took a step and a half to 2-3 stps max jumped and dunked while holding the ball so that would fall in line with your saying he didn't throw it to bounce it off and dunk. did you mean you can't land on the floor? i think that migh tbe the case
I also mentoind in my first comment on this page that wilt patended and created teh fadewaway 60 percent of his shots were. also, wilt at time had a hook shot, not necessarly sky hook but similar to a degree, he also had a finger roll and a few others. and with his strength if he wanted to be shaq he would have way out shaq'ed shaq, but then again offensive foul rules were very heavliy called and he could not even try it.

Michael Jordan the GOAT he never lost in the finals and he never had to have another superstar from another team join him to win all 6 of his titles and he never had to leave the Bulls to win his titles played sick to his stomach in the 1997 NBA finals and still pulled off a victory against the jazz in utah many other superstars would have sat out and not even played but not Jordan he pushed himself he battled both his sickness and the Jazz that's how tough he is to beat.

Jeff Assassin, Bill Russell won 11 titles and went 11-0 in finals he was healthy for. Never had to leave the Celtics for a title either. Never had someone else from another team join him either. So by the logic you used for Jordan it would put Russell as GOAT. Now I know as a Jordan fanboy you will move the goal posts to get Jordan over Russell, but your logic here does not put Jordan on top.

Everything about that warriors/kings series was amazing. The narrative of it especially, you had a young team that hadn’t been to the playoffs since 2006 vs the reigning champ and kinda dynasty. Steph breaking a record, steph and fox putting up spectacular numbers. Easily the best series of the entire playoffs

Shaq should be in there. Strictly talking changing basketball in NBA so for me the list is this:
Wilt - bunch of rule changes
Dr. J - excitement and explosion in games
MJ - change of strategy to wing, athletic players for game wins
Shaq - a dominant center to win / strengthening of rims for power dunks
Dirt - stretch 4s and NBA globalization (great players from other countries given more chance in NBA)
    Lebron - player mobility
Steph - 3 point revolution and analytics
Sorry Magic and Iverson.. Though they were great and exceptional, I think they did not have enough influence to change the game. They are like an anomaly in the matrix, a one-off. The best i can think close to magic is ben simmons and to AI is IT of boston but u did not see the NBA looking for someone like Magic or AI.

    Louis Dampier is missing.
He was the reason the ABA was 3 point crazy, and after the merge exported that TO the NBA.
It took the NBA over 20 YEARS to catch up to his 1967-1968 and 1968-1969 3 pointer numbers.
He's also the ONLY top 3 point shooter ever that MATCHED his best year almost identically - ONE HIT OFF from his best year to his second-best, though that second-best year was more efficient.
Also keep in mind, the ABA 3 point shot was 25 feet except the corners, NOT the wimpy 22' 9" (or 22' 3" for a few years in the early 1990s) of the NBA.
