    Wow - what a most excellent day: standing in the surf, catching spanish mackerel, and cooking them on the beach. To cap the day off, you were kind enough to drag someone away from danger. Pleasant from the beginning to the end, this video made my day. Thanks for sharing this adventure!

    Everytime I've caught spanish mackerel I bleed them same way I do black tip. Just cut around the tail while they're still alive they're meat will be less fishy tasting and the blood line won't be as massive. Hope this helps for future reference bud great channel btw.

  • @pkendall99
    @pkendall99 6 лет назад +1

    Keep the skin on the mackerel, then you can cook directly on the grill, the oils from fish will char the meat nicely.. use some soy sauce on it, eat with slices of those yellow picked radishes (easy to carry)

    Really nice video. If you like reds on the half shell you should try smoking them. Smoked 2 on the half shell in my pit like 2 weeks ago. Oak wood at about 175-200 degrees for about 3 1/2 hours. Put butter on them like once an hour. Guarantee it'll be the best you've ever had hands down. Like candy.

    smaller bluefish say 18" or less are really good eating if they are bled and any bloodline removed just like the macs. I actually just ate some blue fillets from a 17lb fish that were not bad. a lot of waste in a fish that size though. wish I was where you are instead of Pa right now. tight lines guys!

    Sharpen the hooks on your lures. There is a file you can buy from most fishing outfitters that are made for sharpening hooks. The best way to check them for sharpness is that they stick into your fingernails.

    No need to skin Spanish mackerel. Filet them and grill the right on their skin. They have no scales so you can eat the skin too if you like No need for foil. It's natures foil but better because no fats are removed.

    Dats the best surf fishing..but the blue fish has to much oil u have to slice a cut on the tail drain the blood out

    • @sparkyjones560
      @sparkyjones560 6 лет назад

      Mickey Torres "throating" the fish is so much more efficient to drain the blood out. That spot where the left and right side gill gets closest on the underside of the fish,slide your finger in one side and out the other and pull until that spot breaks and most of the time you sever the main artery and all the blood pumps out in less than a minute.
      In my opinion the best way to bleed a fish to get as much blood out as you can.
