The best part about finding a great podcast, late, is catching up on old episodes. Thank you for sharing a fun and entertaining conversation with one of the legends. 💯🙏🏽
Thanks for joining us!
@@ByronScottPodcast What up Homeboy this is Russell Jackson how are you brother love the interview happy for you. Keep up the good work!
Right there with you, just watched Worthy, Kareem and now Cooooop, this is a good day.
yep, discovered this late as well. enjoying every episode. My boys !!!! The Showtime Lakers !!!
@@hoverpilder1905 hell yeah, this pod is pure comfort food for me.
When the Lakers uncles link up
Coop and B. Scott are great together, it was hilarious…🤣👍
I wish you would've asked him about wearing those long socks 😂
Congratulations to Coach Cooper on his selection to the Naismith Memorial Basketball HOF!
Coooooop! Get that man in the HoF, and the Lakers should retire his jersey. Great conversation, thanks Byron!
I didn’t realize you both had so much coaching experience. Great interview!
COOP!!!🏀🏀 Proof that hard work pays off. Came a long way to just make the Lakers team in 1978-79. Hardly played in his rookie year. Coaches McKinney, Westhead, and Riley(during the 79-80season) gave him an opportunity and he made it.
Kareem, Worthy, Coop.... who is next? Magic? Rambis? Riles? wow wow wow!
Magic never came on. Maybe he thinks he's too rich
My man Michael Cooper! I miss the 80s NBA. My team was the Lakers and my favorites were 1st Magic, 2nd Kareem, and 3rd was Cooper. People didn't realize how fearless and gangster like Michael Cooper was, tuff player.
I've been a Lakers fan since 82. My Favorite players were Magic and Worthy. But I love Cooper. But he keeps talking about how he didn't score. I remember him always hitting 3s..
You forgot the Cooper Loop"
44:34--Cooper: "I'm on another (🍷) level now. You got me off of Boone's Farm!" LMFAO 🤣!!!! 🤣!!!! 🤣!!!! 🤣!!!! 🤣!!!! 🤣!!!! 🤣!!!!
Great conversation, thank you both!
I love these guys. The Showtime Lakers - my favorite basketball team "of all time."
💯
Great show! I hope Magic and Riley next!
Grateful for what we have in the present moment
I love this podcast. Keep up the good work Byron Scott.
Coooooooop!!! #Coopaloop
This show rocks man!
Thanks for checking it out!
Coach Scott, ASU is missing you like crazy!!!! C’mon back, B!
This is a great podcast. I remember watching the Lakers in the '80s and it's great to go down memory lane listening to these guys talk about basketball
BScott I was always a fan of yours and a die hard Lakers fan. We would imitate the showtime Lakers, my older brother was Magic and I was B Scott thank you for having a podcast
Just stumbled into this Podcast and I love it! Great job Byron Scott! Wonder if Byron Scott majored in mass communication in college..very articulate. 🙏👍
Worthy and Jabbar interview was great, but this Coop interview is the best 👍👍👍
This was great! Love Coop! Keep it coming Scott. Enjoyed listening to you both share the amazing moments.
yo this was awesome
This is pure gold, I love these guys!
Great talk and drinking Caymus Vineyards wine - many things are aligned well in this one. Having followed the Lakers since 1980s it was GREAT to hear how you talk about those years and coaching after retiring from playing career. Very interesting, for a person like myself who has coached junior basketball teams and worked in the wine industry. Byron, it is great listening to your podcasts, keep up the good work!
Have norm Nixon on the podcast
These two are the best and my faves with making it showtime...
Can tell you two are good friends!
I will say this,...Coop would not only guard #1 through #4, he would fight anybody #1 through #5 on the other team! I remember Coop getting into it with Rick Mahorn, Xavier McDaniel, and Roy Tarpley to just name a few!
Also, I back what you guys said about the '89 team; had you and Magic not been hurt, you guys would of taken the Pistons apart! The Lakers were playing some of their best playoff basketball ever before those finals!
Cooooooooooop!!!! Grew up in Anaheim in the 80s. Love seeing my childhood heroes still together and bringing me smiles.
Great interview
Cooooooooooop-a-Loooooooooooop ! Both you guys were bomb'n from the 3-line ! Made me happy as BLEEP when yall were play'n the Celts.
I wish you could do more podcasts Byron Scott. Great rivalries with Celtics, Bulls, Spurs and Pistons
Great podcast. You can feel the friendship there
Two great players who played at the highest level talking humbly about giving back to the game, found a go to podcast, thank you for your work Byron
Showtime Lakers growing up in So Cal in the 70s & 80s was the greatest show on Earth! Thank you both! B Scott was Russell Westbrook before anyone ever heard of Russ! But a much better 3 pt shooter
Two God fearing men sharing their showtime years was a blessing B! Really cool to hear Cooooop, give credit to his coaches for defensive abilities! Also hearing him give credit to God about rehabbing from his 100 stitches as a young kid. Loved hearing the two of you shit talk about New Mexico State and AZ State! Miss the Coop a Loop! #Showtime #GodisGood
Legends everywhere….Showtime still the best ever
I love this! I loved the Show Time Lakers!
My new favorite pod…. I love good stories, friends, and wine!
Awesome!
Love Coop, but Sleepy Floyd got em that one time! 😂
Awesome podcast. And Great Times watching you guys ... Showtime #1
I can’t wait for the next podcast! I look forward to each episode. Everyone has been fantastic.
I love the 'Showtime Lakers', I love them a lot! Super dynasty. I was then a diehard Lakers fan, big big Lakers fan, now I don't root for any team. I love the 90s and 80s NBA and back. I can't just love the current situation of the NBA.
These NBA legendary players always have great funny stories.
2 smooth dudes much love 🫡🫡
I've always had disdain for the Lakers being a Trailblazer fan but always watched when they were on the tube. There was nothing like Showtime.
I really appreciate Coop and Byron in this interview.
Feels like it's taking place in my house!
Paul Westhead must've really pissed off somebody.
Coop is funny!
I remember the Coop-a-Loop 🙂
Micheal Cooper ❤❤
COOOOOOOP ❤
B u just so cool man. Just coooool. EVEN cooler than Magic, these days. And that’s COOL.
Pasadena High School!!
Why they do Magic like that, "bidness man", 😂😂😂
💕💕💕
Forgot how much I loved Mr. COOPER. And bryan I'm from Tempe, went to a frank cush football camp. I saw Reggie Jackson play. You were my favorite player. Didn't agree with some NBA final decisions especially keeping kidd on the bench for so long in the 4th. But your ASU guy and you were fantastic with the Lakeers
B Scott go coach Compton College Tarters.
Coop was a Beast on tha hardwood especially as a defender. But say? If he was one of the best defenders ever, Dr. J should be included in the top 10 basketball players to ever ball. A cup dunk Julius Erving executed against him is the most beautiful display of athleticism ever in sports because Cooper was the Lawrence Taylor of basketball and Dr. J made him look like a cadet!
Where's the interview with GOAT, Magic Johnson?
He has 6th man awards too
Late to the scene but, I've seen the Shorts.
After watching the entirety, I wasn't sure who was interviewing who in this podcast.
You two ought to do a weekly or monthly podcast together.
Just saying...
Boone's Farm? LOL
Byron Scott we got a spot down here in Memphis for you you can coach the great Penny hardaway and Larry Brown just for a year or two we just need you to motivate the children
The second best perimeter defender of all time behind Dennis Johnson
💛💜💛💜🎊🎊🎊👑👑👑👌🏿
LOVE YOU SOOO MUCH MICHAEL COOPER!!!!!!!
When I watch these Games with Celtics vs Lakers; Larry was Right to say that about Cooper. Even though They were Both Wearing Each Other Out, Coop was The Best at Trying to get a Read on Bird that I have seen. Larry isn't Someone to Give a Complement & He sure Won't Lie; So Him Saying That About Cooper You Better Believe He Saying The Truth. & When You Watch these Two You can SEE It Sure Was the Truth Too.
ok, no bs. what is the forum club.
He won every title of the showtime leakers era and was an essential player on that roster and is not a hall of famer, someone explain to me?
That mistake has finally been corrected!
The” look what I drink” thing is beyond corny.
Isn't it kind of interesting 🤔 that Kobe Bryant was not mentioned once in this interview?
I dont know, your 87 88 team against golden state, it depends which era rules you use, if its the physical 80ties then yes you would beat GS, but if its played by today's rules you guys would lose. No doubt in my mind, they would outshoot you.
Magic the Bidnid Man
