As part of my series of taking major key songs and performing them in a minor key, here is my version of the song "My Way" popularized by Frank Sinatra. I feel this version really reflects Frank Sinatra's true life. He 'did it his way' and it fell apart with many affairs, divorces, and outbursts. This haunting cover reminds me that maybe 'our way' isn't necessarily the best way. Frank's last words were "I'm losing it".

I was just thinking the exact same thing!
The moment that always gets me is when he sings "when there was doubt, I ate it up, and spit it out" because for a brief second it sounds triumphant, and then descends back into insanity but for that one moment your mind is scrambling because no, this is not a good song, this is a bad song, you can't sound this way. It's like when the enemy troops are descending and their side is playing fun and jovial music and you have to stop yourself. I just really love that part.

Best version. No contest. There is so much emotional UMPH in this version. The up beat version is nice but the minor key fits the lyrics far better. The slow ramp up to the climax before the sudden stop and simply soft music makes me think of a dying man giving the world his last bits of energy and announcing that he lived his life and was proud of what he’s accomplished before finally taking his last breathe. I replayed this multiple times and had to hold back tears the whole time. Finally let myself cry while writing this. Absolutely beautiful.

I love all of the theories people make up for Chase's songs. This one sounds like someone is dying or being executed, so now they're reminiscing about their life before they take someone else down with them.
Perhaps a killer on death row?
I feel like it's more like a tyrant in the middle of being deposed. A mad king in a palace under siege with empty halls and a bloody ballroom, the last few loyalists terrified as he walks by, and he sings this to himself, yet only he can hear the music.
This is like a serial killer lamenting about his crimes :O spooky but amazing

They called him the Apollo Killer, going after world renown singers, and medics in his deluded belief that he was the Greek God reincarnated, and that he needed to reclaim his spot in Olympus, and this is him after finally realizing what he did.

I should explain exactly why I feel this way. I love Frank Sinatra: Fly Me to the Moon, I've got you under my skin, among others, but this song has always aggravated me for some reason, I think it's got a kinda cockiness about the lyrics which is so unappealing... but this, this gives it a different emotion, this represents a warrior coming out the other side of a battle, he's done some things he'll regret, but he won, or did he? He did it his way and he's happy for the conclusion, but sad nonetheless... man, yeah, I love this... I only wish Frank Sinatra could actually record it this way... instead of his way? wow, that's irony, lol.
veggiet2009 My Nanna had the original version of “My Way” by Frank Sinatra played at her funeral, I think the original in major represents satisfaction, he was satisfied with how he lived his life as my Nanna was satisfied with her life. I enjoy this minor version as well though! Minor songs are my favourite, more solemn and meaningful, but I’ll always love “My Way” in major because it’s still so meaningful and emotional. I do like your take on this version though, it definitely does resonate with me as a song for a warrior.

I feel like this is someone who is about to die like, at an execution and they are saying there last words. Telling everyone to live a life that they want, not what their Lord or king or anyone else wants them to live. And they are explaining everything, trying to convince evergone else to be themselves
The mood of this song feels like the thoughts of someone taking their last breaths after realizing their life is ending sooner than they expected and making a quick summary of their choices and trying to come to peace with it even though they wish they had just a little more time. Maybe to apologize to someone they hurt, maybe perform some righteous act to leave on a high note, or to enjoy an earthly pleasure just one more time. It is a shame to die lamenting a life wasted. Do it your way, but remember you will die someday. Don't lead yourself somewhere you'll regret going to.

This is such a beautiful cover. You can tell he put all he got in this song and cried out all of his emotions in the end. The song has a different tone than the original, but he took something old and made it unique in his own way which makes it work and that's what I really like about this version.

On the other hand, this may have inspired one of my characters.
When I listen or think of this song, I see two lifelong friends, a woman and a man, sitting together on the battlefield. The man is dying and the woman won't let him go as he tells her about a memory of the two when they where younger. He then gives her one lastloveing smile before looking in the distance and saying, "My babies...it's okay, Daddy's here now..." And with that, he let's out his last breath with a smile. The girl begins to wildly cry, but, she hears three familiar voices and looks up to see her god children and friend. They were walking away hand in hand and all sang, "Did it my way!" They disappeared, leaving her with a sense of peace.

I didn't picture a serial killer when I listened to this... I pictured a hero trapping themselves in enemy territory to let their friends escape, singing this song before blowing up the place to end their life in "their way" rather than getting killed by the enemy.

I love all of your major to minor stuff. I'm currently writing a relatively dark novel that I plan to turn into a show and possibly a game, and I've considered using you for the music and possibly as the voice for the main character if you'd be willing because your voice would be perfect, but that's years away and entirely up to you.

I'm working on my book's universe since 17 years and i'm far from the publishing so if it goes famous and into a movie it would probably be in 20 years or even more
Well first off I just said "but that's years away", I never stated anything specific like just a few, and I don't really care about it being famous like Harry Potter or Twilight, because it's not that type of novel. It's more anime based and the world is based in modern day Tokyo, so the only really fictitious part is the characters, but even then they're based on Japanese Yokai, so again not entirely fictitious. I don't want to do a manga or a comic book, so it'll be more like a small novel with a few pictures of characters or scenes here and there. Also it won't be a TV show, it'll be an animated series here on RUclips done on my own, and the game is still up for debate as to whether or not I want to do it. I'm just doing this all more for fun and because I love art and writing, not because I want fame and fortune.

Keep at it and don't loose sight of your dream. Take it from a guy who wrote a novella and short story collection and then just lost the will to keep writing. Even though it doesn't share genres, I recommend reading Stephen King's "On Writing: A Memoir of The Craft". It is very motivational and really kicks you in the butt to keep you on task.
This is someone facing their death with dignity, asserting that no matter what, they maintain their sense of self- it also has the same feel as The Villain I Appear To Be, but more intense, and without the singer providing any clarity about what happened, or bothering to defend themself.
I feel like this is about a hero who tried his best to change the world but failed. And found out that he can't change the world without being the greater evil or using unethical means.
He ends up doing crimes that went against his moral code for his goal. The more time passes, the more it kills him inside until he goes crazy in despair.
He sings this to himself to try and keep himself less chaotic and crazy.
