I love that Ecosia not only plants trees but also educates people in other ways they can help the environment, thank you I learnt a lot from this video which was concise and to the point
If you want to help slow down anthropogenic climate change, here are some ways you can do so for free. TreeApp, an app that plants trees on your behalf every day. All you have to do is watch a 30 second advert. Tribaldata, an app that sells data. You can plant a tree every time you earn enough points. Both apps work on smartphones and tablets. Thenonprofits, a website with links to click to donate. You can plant trees, protect forests, help people who are poor, sick, provide healthcare and education, etc for free.
Individuals, financial institutions, banks, pension funds, universities and insurance companies are now divesting from fossil fuels. ESG investing is growing. It is time to stop adding more fossil fuels to the climate crisis. Join in and speak up. Tweet, email or call your banks customer service and ask them if they are divesting from fossil fuels.
I love this video and will definitely consider banking alternatives because of it! I just wish I had more energy provider options available to me though.
In Canada 2 green energy providers are Northland Power-ticker NPI and Algonquin power-ticker AQN. Actually most of our electricity is provided by green companies due to the fact they use hydro electric as their source of power.
Don't use ecosia as default browser. Use firefox instead. And use ecosia as default search engine . This way both ecosia and firefox make money. Firefox is non profit and js struggling. Just using firefox will increase its market share and help combat google.

For clean electricity in New Zealand, Ecotricity is the only carbon zero certified electricty provider in the country. It is a great company that is actively pushing for change.
If you give it a thought..animal agriculture is the number one reason for deforestation so by cutting down trees/sometimes burning them down plus putting animals that release methane I personally think animal agriculture is responsible for more than 25% of emissions
So glad you mentioned the plant-based diet! It's one of the leading causes of deforestation and GHG emissions. Not to mention our domestic animals now outweigh wild animail biomass by a very large and depressing factor (I think it's now 100 times).
I can't believe how Ecosia hasn't blown up on the internet yet! This is such a great work for a great cause :D I will make sure to tell people around me about this and also commenting for the algorithm, keep up the great work Ecosia!

only if you actually like the ad and want to look into it further or buy from them. advertisers can tell when people are clicking and not buying, so they don't pay as much for that.
So happy you brought the plant-based lifestyle into this :) It's incredible how many issues a plant-based diet alone can tackle (climate change, animal cruelty, starvation, deforestation, water shortage, health problems, the list goes on)! And no-one has to go vegan overnight, the shift can happen step by step. Rooting for everyone on their vegan journeys 💚
It's very important that people don't forget to eat locally! You're not doing any good if u're buying fruit shipped from half the planet away :) We want too many things available to us all the time and that doesn't end well

I've been thinking about joining aspiration bank but I can't find anything about where (is it random or strategical) or how they plant trees. I also want to know if they plant monocultures or a variety, native or nonnative, and if they monitor their trees. It's like I find a good company and then can't verify that they are good because there is no transparency, its so frustrating. At first Idefinitely
Hey, just a suggestion for the Ecosia browser: is there a way that you can let users transfer bookmarks, passwords etc. from Chrome or other browsers? That's really the only reason I don't use the Ecosia browser on mobile.
They might pay people to create these videos which would probably cost more than they can make back in ads. Even if the people in the video are volunteering they would still might book a filming location, hire a professional film crew, hire script writers etc. It would be cool if there was a way for people to donate their old equipment or volunteer to fill the position of camera man, scriptwriter etc. If they can make profit off of these videos then they should make more content because not only will they be able to plant more trees, but more people will be able to find Ecosia.

Regarding "Green Energy": Also look out for energy providers who use fossil fuels but then just "compensate" the emitted CO2 somewhere else in the world. CO2 compensation is by no means a sustainable solution. If trees are planted as a compensation it only saves the CO2 while the tree lives - once there's a wild fire or the woodland is cleared to produce firewood the CO2 is released again. On top of that: The land that is required to plant the trees competes with locals. It tightens the available land mass and increases the prices.
