Hey - at the request of friends from my Greek food blog here goes my first recipe in English (this could turn out to be a horrible mistake).
I am making Greek frappe - the weird ice instant coffee you see Greeks nurturing for hours
Hope you enjoy

when I lived in Greece me and my mum lived on this!! 😍 so nice to see people interested in making it :) also your English fine and your didn't sound weird 👌😘
this is awesome thanks!! I had frappe for the first time in Greece and there is nothing like it here in california, so now I know how to make them at home! Great video and you're really funny also!
Thx so much for your you recipe! My dearest mother was Greek and never told me about frappe. I haven’t heard of frappe until my daughter and I helped make Spanakopita at our church, St Nicholas Greek Orthodox. The leader of our cooking group made us frappe and I enjoyed it so much which we drank while we made Spanakopita.
Thanks. I've been craving one of these since I went to Greece. Also, Great job with the English.
Thank you Andriana, glad you found the video useful! :-)
Thank you Sofia - you are terrific. You need your own show on THE COOKING CHANNEL in the USA. We'd love it. Your personality would be appreciated. I was served this frappe in a fancy hair salon years ago - everyone was oohing and aaahing - they served it in a wine glass with a little straw. then I pulled my hair stylist aside one day after he handed us our frappes and I said - you MUST show me how you do this. I mean people thought there was some expensive frappe machine behind the scenes. When he showed me how he shook up a little instant coffee and sugar, I laughed so loud he slammed the little door of the kitchen we were in. Don't tell - he said -- I won't. And you tell it so well, I don't have to. But ever since whenever I make this frappe, people continue to be impressed. I heard that Israeli's were making this in the desert when they didn't have refrigeration available. I can see why - so easy! Take care. dsl
Thank you so much for this great video! I went to the local Greek festival last month and bought some of the coffee but I needed a refresher course and how to make it. You explained it beautifully!
Thanks for explaining what frappe is. I wasn't quite sure what it was. It looks delicious!.
Yes, that's how the real frappe should be made. No stupid frappe machines, just a shaker. Thumbs up!
Σοφία μου έφτιαξες τη μέρα με το χαμόγελο σου και τη θετική σου ενέργεια!!!
Wow! Great video! İ needed it so much! İ am used to making frappe with a mixer but İ moved to a different country where frappe is not popular at all...so here you can NOT find a mixer anywhere. İ was missing my daily frappe so much until İ found your video! Thanx a lot!!! So helpful :)
i asked my greek friends million time to get me the machine from Greece but till now i don't have it ! this is a cool way to do it ! thanks !

NO NO NO !!!! DON'T FOLLOW THE FUCKING NEW-GREEKS ON THIS DIARHEAA. CAUSE OF ALL THEIR TROUBLES
I used to live in Greece, and drank those by the gallon! I could not figure out how to make them myself. Thanks for the great video.
Glad you found it useful :-)
Thank you ! First time in my life I drank Coffee in Greece, since then no other coffee has even come close to greece coffee in perfection!!
It's a pleasure :-)
Hi Sophia, your English is superb. My wife, who is Greek, never makes Frappe. I, the American, can make the heck out of it. Lovely video..keep it up!
Just back from Greece and wanted a frappe. Excellent. I will be back for more recipes in English. You were great!
We made it and it was great following your method!
The simpler the better! Very good!
Astonishing easy and delicious! Cool!
Absolutly suuuuuper! I don't have a whisk, this is the perfect alternative!
Thanks! I work in an authentic Greek restaurant, so I can't wait to try this at work later!!!
Great video! Thanks for showing us how to make a frappe without the frappe maker.
thank you sofia, I love frappe made in the original way.
You can also get a milkshake machine, it's the same thing, and a fixed device will do a better foam as opposed to a handheld device.
Just remember not to keep mixing it after the mixture become creamy, or you'll end up with a coffee froth and coffee flavoured water.
This was so easy to make it was absolutely a perfectly made FRAPPE!
Those frappes saved my life while on vacation in Greece...the jar is a perfect idea for people who don't have the mixer...my coffee here in Seattle is good, but I miss drinking frappes in Greece:(
Ah, I know the feeling. I live in London and it's hard to find frappe. You have to improvise :-)
THE IDIOT NEW- GREEKS SPREAD THEIR IDIOCY SHIT!!!!
DON'T MISS THEIR TSIFTETELI AND BRIBING TOO. CORRUPTION AT ITS BEST
CheapRush kryfiAlekw lol 😂????
I really enjoyed your video and can't wait to try this. I was introduced to Greek Frappe at a Greek Festival in Bellingham, WA.

I was in Grece 2 years ago but every day I remember the Greek Frappe Coffee

Nice video Sofia.I'm greek so I was born with that knowledge.
Greetings from Romania, love the Greek frappe.
Thank you for the video.
thanks for the comment, glad you like it :-)
Gracias por la receta mi nuera es Griega y la voy a sorprender este fin de semana con un frappe griego Tia Sofia.
I have just bought one of them hand held "zoom zoom" devices from ebay for less than £4 with free postage and it works great with your simple recipe which was very well presented I must say! keep em coming....
WOW great video I never knew this!! I'm off to the kitchen right this minute to make it :D THANK YOU XX Digital Scullery
Thank you sooo much! Used to drink this all the time during my internship in Greece. I don't have that 'frappe machine' at home and this is the perfect solution!
I've just come back to England after an amazing weeks holiday in Rhodes and have been drinking frappes every day. I've just made one using a jar after seeing this video and it works brilliantly. Thanks Sofia! ;-)
Excellent! It's up to us to spread the word on how lovely frappe is!
Hello! I am very thankful for this guide, efharisto :) because I loved the greek frappe, I bought the biggest box and brought my home in Turkey. But we don't have this kind of mixer so now I can make a good frappe.
It is a milkshake maker. But u may need to use cello tape to push the saftey mecanism
Thank you, first time I've seen it made in a jar, excellent x
Efharisto :) This has saved me going and buying a frother. We love Frappe, and now we can enjoy them at home.... until our next trip to Greece! Thank you :)
Thx u. Fast and easy and delicious.
Bravo Sofia!! Well done and your English was great!!
hahahaha...that was BRILLIANT..i cant find my frappe maker and came across your video when i was looking for something completely different..thanx to you i will be enjoying frappe again this lovely evening..YIPPEE...thank you:)
I actually tried it and it worked great! Not as good as I get at the greek festival but I'll take it!!! Thanks!
so happy . going down stairs right now to make. also putting it on my facebook
Thank you for this video! I've never been to Greece but I go to a Greek festival near where I live every year and always get the frappes there. I love them. I just tried for the first time making it after watching your video and it came out exactly the same! 😊😀🙃
I actually just bought the same whisk off eBay from a seller in Athens and had it shipped over because I miss frappe so much , completely forgot you can use a shaker , anyway brilliant love it
Thanks for this video.
I've nearly run out of my Nescafe Eis Kaffee Frappe stash that I brought back from Austria. I can guess that the population of Greece would cringe at the thought of that product, but I like 'em.
Looking for alternatives, I just can't seem to find an instant coffee that doesn't have that nasty sharp bitter aftertaste, no matter how much sugar I add. I've just bought a can of Condensed Milk to see if that would fix it...haven't tried yet, and don't think I need to.
I wouldn't have thought that aerating the coffee/sugar would have made such a difference to the flavour. Of course it still tastes like instant coffee, maybe smoother and sweeter, but that nasty bitter taste is now gone. I was thinking maybe I needed a motor whisk for £x or to have to clean up the mess after using a bigger hand blender/processor, nope, just a jar and shake!
I even get to burn a few of the calories when shaking it up!
Tried so far.
Nescafe Collection Espresso, 2tsp demarera sugar, 1 tsp white sugar, ~50ml tap water, ice cubes, milk. Damned lovely!
your post was lovely. also your English are perfect. the sound. I will just want to comment.. as Greek.. 2 things. 1st that you can put also some ice cubes inside the jar as to shake it. And in that way.. you are stopping when the ice cubes will melt. That will make the foam more hard. And the 2nd is something that i didn't knew... but we learn it with the hard way.. from doctor's.. that is not good.. to put milk to coffee. Even if i understand that people love milk and want to make it lighter.. , well.. they will have problems with kidney after long time. If someone want lighter coffee... can add more water inside the jar.. from the beginning. Or more water at the end. Or take out some of the foam.. and put water after.
I real enjoy you video. Keep doing the good job.
For long time I would like to make frappe, but have no whisk. Thank you for the trick with the glass!
Nice video and very creative with the jar! Keep it up! Greetings from Bulgaria
just came back from greece and frappe is sooopo delicious!!! thanks for the recipe
I just got back from Ikaria and your video was extremely helpful in filling my Frappe fix! Thanks!!!!
Thanks for the instructional vid. Wanted to make my frappe the old-fashioned way.
Excellent video! The frappe came out great!
Enjoyed the video Sofia..drooling over that coffee!!
ARE YOU TURKISH???
Sofia, thanks! I am now in Greece and enjoying this drink enormously :) Was wondering how to make it without this special blender. THANKS!!!!
Hey there, glad to be of assistance :-)
Just perfect. I tried it very often this way!
I'm sitting on the porch on Father's Day, enjoying a Greek Frappe with my wife!
Nice frappe! Love it!
Just gorgeous!!! I've never made this and now I can't wait! Thank you!
Awesome video and AWESOME frappe.
girl you're so funny and cheeky I love it
Thank you! I'm living in Athens now and although I can (of course) go down to any local coffee shop and get one, I love to make my own coffee drinks. I normally dislike instant coffee (really, its not coffee!! haha) but this is a unique drink and its nice to offer to friends. I'm going to try making it with the little spring/ball/gadget that you get in Protein Drink Shakers PLUS I might go see which other brands of good frappe instant "coffee" I can get from the supermarket. Euxaristo poli!
Great, that was easy to do, although I had it many times I never knew how to make it, today I will try it for the first time. Thanks
loved it!! I wish my friends here in Tennessee, U.S. would understand this Greek yumminess
Great idea, thanks. Your English is perfect.👍😊
Very good video. And I'm sure by now you know you sounded just great!
Great Job - I was just trying to show someone how to make this this week. I sent them your video.. great job.. I really miss Chania ..
Enjoyed the video and frape. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this. Greek Cypriot living in Sweden that is in desperate need of frappe right now.
Excellent video. Your English is wonderful.
You sounded great. Excellent English!
My frappe turned out great! Thank you!!
SHOVE IT UP YOURS NOW
Im sooo going to try this! But not coffee, dont drink coffee...
I hope cacao powder will work just as well. It usually foams nicely with a spoon swirl. Need to try
nice one will surely try....
Ευχαριστὠ πολὐ για βιντεο σου! I just got back from a 3 week trip to Kerkyra, Zakynthos, and Vartholomoio...best trip of my life! Nothing beats sitting at the kafenio with friends.

This was the best idea I never had.
Kai bravo, ta englezica sou inai endaxi.
very good ideea. when i go home, i really taste it this method! see ya
Excellent! What a great coffee. Thank you for the recipee.
This is a game changer. I used mexican Nescafe and that worked great. I got greek Nescafe and know its gonna be way better. The greek one is stronger and tastier also more expensive.
thank you from North Carolina, USA
Thank u Sofia, I've been wanting to make a frappe for a while. In fact I will go make one now
I LOVE that you use the Nescafe jar, it's much easier for me to find than the can of Greek Nescafe!
And .... does anyone else think the current Dalgona drink is basically an inverted twist on a Greek Frappe made with Milk?
Good English! Thanks for the lesson.
@XatDepy glad you liked it! Well the jar is a necessity, I was trying to think what you would use if you couldn't get the foamer or the shaker we use in Greece.
Good Job I Realy Enjoy Watching That Video
good stuff sofia i love it,im in greece and i need frappe expecially the coming summer season.

Nice, I will try.
Γιάς τα χέρια σου! I laughed when you said that the Greeks could sit at a cafe and drink the same frappe for hours on end, because I'm Greek too and have done the same thing!
Καλό Μήνα !!
Great stuff thanks I'd suggest putting cling film before closing the lid so it doesn't rust and is easy to clean..😊
thanx .. I learn haw to make it from your video
