      Received my glasses today and have been tinkering with them. I purchased a separate little module so I could watch movies on my iPhone, but I found that it’s equally compatible with an iPod touch as long as you have the Apple video connector but it’s amazing. Absolutely amazing. Definitely worth the purchase. I was a little skeptical at first and had buyer’s remorse the next day but after putting them on today and trying them out, wow.

    Definitely worth it especially with a Samsung mobile device, I've been using my S22 ultra with Dex it's the best thing in the world for mobile games such as Cod, Fortnite, Valrant, and I got it set up with PS2, Game Cube, 3Ds emulators as well some cloud gaming services (lucky to live in an area with good cell reception and lots of wifi locations) so I can play most of my Steam games from my phone smoothly. Movies and browsing the internet works well too I can easily read text while browsing Reddit it is not a strain to read which it awesome because I can use this with my mobile IDEs to code which has saved my butt when my power went out and I only had my phone with a project due. All in all if you you want these purly for AR I'd look else where, but for a external display these things are amazing and I have definitely got my money's worth out in time used and utility. Side note I wish the Nebula app worked like Dex where It turns my phone into a virtual desktop so I could use my own apps with multiple displays and move them around and be able to ajust them instead just their apps and browsers.

      Runtime with NReal Air slightly longer as main screen is off an resolution is a little lower (720p).
      There is an adapter by red magic that lets you charge while the glasses are connected, but it's not sold everywhere and hard to come by. Without the adapter it's pretty much stock battery time + a little bit extra due to above mentioned reasons.

      I used the Steam Deck for testing Windows 11 and the display was totally visible. I could read all areas of the screen without issue. Keep in mind, the screen position on a PC doesn't "lock" to a location in space and your PC/Laptop must support USB-C DP. As you turn your head, the monitor moves with your head. In a single desktop monitor environment, should be good. Hopefully there will be support in the future to have multiple virtual monitors using the nreal glasses. If that were to happen, I might have a heck of a lot more room on my desk!

      I don't have any problem reading the text on the screen and I normally need reading glasses. Everyone's eyes are going to be different. If you wear prescription glasses, you'll likely need lenses made for them (a few links in the guide page). If not, you should be good also. My brother-in-law brought his M2 Mac over to try with the glasses during Thanksgiving. We had 3 virtual displays up and running on it, wish I had access to that when creating this video. It was very impressive.

I haven't found any official information other than an estimate 5 hours of usage time with a 4000mAh battery. There are so many things that come into play when testing battery life (FPS limit, Power used by the game, etc.) that it's not an aspect I spent much time on. When I do, and likely will as I use them more over time, I'll add it to the written guide.

      I personally didn't have any eyestrain while using the glasses. Everyone is going to be a little different. With the Quest 2, of course your entire environment is being lit up by the device and it weighs quite a bit more (perhaps leading to some of the strain). While with the nreal glasses allow seeing more of your real environment and weigh much less. I'm not sure how that will translate for you, will it be less of an eyestrain or more is a bit hard for me to answer. If it's something you're interested in, you could try a pair and return them if they are unusable for you. The only real way to know is to try them for some extended period of time. Thanks for this review! One question about the Steam Deck. Being honest, does the head-tracking-screen (because of no nebula sticky windows) become annoying? I intend to use them with WoW as well as of course other games on the screen, and I'm worried that needing to just do eye movements and not being able to move my head to help focus on something will be way too weird. What's your experience with that?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  Год назад

      There is no head tracking on the Steam Deck (it would need an app. running on the Steam Deck to support it, which doesn't exist -presently). So, everywhere you move your head the display will remain in front of you. I don't find it annoying, but others possibly could. Have you installed windows to your steam deck? The nreal air work great with my steam deck in steam os but with windows the steam deck screen is mirrored to the nreal air glasses (but does not turn off the screen on the steam deck, thus wasting battery) and the sound doesn't come through the nreal air glasses either.. is there a solution to this like a windows driver or something like that to fix this? Thanks

      @WagnersTechTalk  Год назад

      I have installed Windows using my guide here: wagnerstechtalk.com/sd-windows see the 2nd point in the Troubleshooting section for the driver I'm using. It's older, but allows extending the display (or mirroring). The current driver on Vavle's site only supports mirroring.

      @Wagner's TechTalk thank you very much. That worked (after installing older driver it crashed as mentioned and on rebooting and going into windows options to extend to only 1 display the screen mentioned steam deck screen goes off and the nreal air remains on when they're plugged in.. in truth I didn't think to check the windows options to extend to one display with the newer driver.. you're saying the newer driver doesn't allow to extend to one display? (Also want to make sure I'm getting the best frame rates and wondered if the newer driver offers better frame rates than this older driver)..Thanks once more

    • @justinspirational
      @justinspirational Год назад

      @Wagner's TechTalk I had to revert back to the newer driver as certain games like red dead redemption 2 wouldn't run on the older driver but on checking the windows options I could still set it to extend to 1 display only still with the newer driver and still only keeps the nreal air display on and turns off the steam deck display so I kind of could've done this in the first place without reverting to the older driver

    • @WagnersTechTalk

      I kinda have a big head too, I guess that's subjective, but they fit fine and doesn't squeeze my temples. The arms do flex and are adjustable to 3 positions up/down also. That's pretty much what they do, provide a giant screen in front of you. I can't comment on other devices that are on the market, this is the only pair of glasses like this that I own, at present. I do have another pair that I'm reviewing, but they aren't at all the quality of the nreal Air (not worth mentioning, may wind up sending them back). Hi Buddy, great to hear from you! I've not had any issues with the refresh rate or seeing the display in-general. Most new technology can be perceived as gimmicky to some extent, these are no exception. I was an early adopter of the Quest I and really enjoyed it. I later got the Quest II. I still play it, though not nearly as much as I did a year ago. Mainly because I'm running out of room in my office, no fault of the device. I can see using these for years to come, provided they last that long. I don't think I'll get as much use out of the nebula portion (Android app.) as I will just using them with the Steam Deck. For that, they are pretty awesome and just plug right in.
