Gerber seems to be upping there game and making more high quality knives, I’ve been thinking about picking one up. I agree with how huge the box is LOL
Hi Dave, thanks so much for coming over and checking out the channel. I hope you enjoy the videos! I may have to send Paddy a Gerber one of these days. There’re certainly popular in the US. Thanks again for watching - cheers!
Lol, you’d be hammered halfway through the video 😂😂. I really liked the detent and have a tendency to be redundant at times. It’s a personal struggle, lol. Thanks for watching my friend 🤙🤙🍻🍻.
Why is it that as soon as a new knife comes out somebody is calling it a ripp off? As you say it is very difficult now to come out with a design that is totally new.
Lol, kinda sort of but not really. Blade shape is way different. Kershaw Grid though? Lol, if you look hard enough you’ll usually find something similar. I still think it’s the love child of the Leek & Dividend. Thanks for watching 1992. Cheers!
One thing not mentioned is that the Gerber has stainless steel ball bearings and the Kershaw does not. It doesn't seem to make much difference in the opening. I'd sure like to be able to handle them before buying one.
I bought one of these when they first came out. The main gripe I have about it is the handles are so slick it almost slips out of my hand trying to open it...
Hey Patty, thanks for watching! That’s interestinf. I found them to be grippier than a lot of other aluminum handled knives. I didn’t have any issues with the grip. I did hear that they had some quality control issues, so it’s entirely plausible that some are slicker than others.
Agree. I did a video on mine.. emailed gerber never heard back. Thx amazon .. 2nd one was better.. more even grind.. better centering and actually opens
This Gerber fast ball knife sucks! I bought one because of all positive reviews here on YT. Straight from the box, in less than one hour, the pocket clip was hanging on only one loose screw. Where is your lifetime warranty when you loose your knife because of that? You can't proof it. The grinding from the edge was also terrible. I send it back to the hardware store to swap it for a new one. I told them to send me some close up pics. from the edge first. Same terrible grinding. I asked for refund. I send a mail to Gerber USA about the issue and got reply from Fiskars Sweden??? Fiskars Sweden told me that the hardware store where i bought the Gerber Fastball knife was not one of their customers. That's it! Great service isn't it? It cost me a lot of time with all the mail contact and money for diesel to drive two times to the post office totally 64 km. This was a month ago and i,m still pissed off!
Complaining about the packaging and crying about zip ties takes away from your credibility... hard to take a knife Review serious when it starts out with packaging complaints. No one carries a box around.. we aren’t buying a box here guy...
I'm not an evirophobiast, but every dollar they spend on the package is a dollar not spent on the product. And, some collectors appreciate a nice package. But, maybe one minute would have been enough time on the box.
Appreciate the comparisons to other knives and options to save a bit of money. Looks like a cool knife.
I'm liking the direction Gerber is going in.
Me too

Lol, yeah it’s a big ass box! Great knife though.
Nice to see some texturing on the aluminum scales! Excellent review! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, sir!
Like Paddy I don't know much about Gerber ,This is probably the only video I've seen about Gerbo .Came from Big Red EDC and subbed .ATB Dave

Who wants to play a drinking game with the word "detent"..lol.. Great vid dude!

That a nice knife!! Going to order one now.
Good call!

I know, it’s kind of bizarre. There are ripoffs out there don’t get me wrong, but the Kershaw Leek? Come on now, lol. Cheers buddy!
@@GearedTowardGear1 Kershaw Ferrite more like ;)

Great review of a brand i dont know much about as a irishman. But it looks like quality to me. Atb paddy 👍☘️😊
Thanks for watching Paddy! Gerber is definitely a beloved brand on this side of the pond.

I have unusual question. Which knife is fastest single hand closing knife?
Probably an out-the-front automatic like a Microtech Ultratech.
@@GearedTowardGear1 unfortunately illegal. Any other ?
Im not sure about this one... some got ones with horrible centering, excessive detent, and milling marks on the spine. QC not on point.....
I guess I got lucky, mine is basically flawless. But if QC is a known issue then I could see why one might be deterred.

@@NickPixelTV i got one.. detent perfect. No issue other than the liner edge is not finished at all. Rough.... looks horrible.
A knife review where the first 2 minutes are all about the box that it comes in??
Yeah, that seemed a bit excessive. But, the rest of the review was a tad on the long side, repetitious, but very good info.

Gerber comes out with a great but the name they gave it is very stupid name .

Some people do care, and I thought it was shitty packaging. That’s the benefit of making your own videos - you can do whatever the hell you want. 👍🏻
Geared Toward Gear no one cares about packaging unless they’re window lickers... it was a good review other than the time spent on the box bitching.
