Confidence is key for me and if there's any question as to right card, then it's not an index for me. But with this, it sounds promising hearing you talking about it!
So great to hear from you and hope you are doing well. Yes I am with you regarding confidence. At the end of the day if I do not have confidence that I am pulling out the right card then it really is not worth it. I found myself having great confidence each time. I do find however if I have not used it for a week I need to put in a quick practice for a couple of minutes to get that muscle memory back and have the confidence. Take care and thanks for being here.
Hey Jonny! Nice review as always and actually a product I own 😂 Love it, easy to use out of the box but I've made a few changes, I made a mesh of things, used the idea of Eddie Raymond of R&S with a Double Decker and lets just say it became more jeans friendly 😅, it isn't necessary, just a personal choice. Solid buy for anyone looking for an index, and with all of the Dex videos out there you'll have a ton of ideas. Hope you are doing great, Best of regards Ezequiel
Hello Ezequiel. I love seeing your comment. I think great minds think alike. Although I would have to say your mind has actually executed it. I too have been thinking about the R/S with the 52 Cheetah. I however did not consider the double decker and I think you are on to something there. The 52 Cheetah is currently my goto index and the one that goes in my gig case when going out to perform. Take care my friend and good to see you in the comments.
Thanks for this review, glad to hear you like this index. This is the only one I have tried and I also found it very easy to get access to the cards. I found that the tabs are really well located so that I can put my thumb on one and fingers on the other and that way I can easily access any of the cards quite fast, and like you said in the review there is a decent amount of elasticity which is really helpful. I would love to see a head-to-head of all the different indexes!
Hey Jay, hope you are doing well. It is great to hear your experience with the Cheetah. This is a good example of if you like it and it works for you then there is no real need to go look for another Index. I think the cheetah is a really good index and if someone likes it then they are good to go. Thanks so much for watching and stay tuned for that Head to head competition of the Indexes.
Thanks for mentioning this as it is a real thing I wish the cards didn't teeter as much as they do. I may need to play around with my own modification for the teetering.
@@fiddlinjonny I used a heavy duty, plastic paper folder. The kind we used in high school or college. It is basically the same type of material used for Cheetah. If you cut out pieces from those folders, you can use Duct Tape to attach the needed piece to the middle section, extending that short slot.
Hi Jonny, hope you are well. I've never owned an index, and to be honest I've never really wanted to ...... But if I ever feel the need this may be it. Keep on with the fiddlin' and your excellent and trusted reviews. Cheers my friend.
Wow Jonny this sounds good!! Although I still have never used an index in performance out in the real world, I am in search of the best for me and have bought them all. I am going to have to try this. You sounded very confident with Eddie Raymond's index-- I bought that and like it as well. I hope you are well my friend.
Hello David, great to hear from you. I must admit I do like this index and Eddie Raymond's RS Index. The two of them function a little bit different but get the same good outcomes. I suspect people will find things that they prefer different things with each. Take care my friend.
Fabulous fiddle tune Jonny.Never previously purchased an index deck but like you say you can produce miracles if you can instantly produce the correct card.Great review as per usual 😊
Yo John, Hope you are doing well. I think index's are making a comeback and I suspect we will see more people starting to use them again. The trick will be finding the right one for each individual. Thanks so much for being here and hope the family is doing well.
Great review and awesomely beautiful fiddlin'! In your journey of index discovery, I hope you get a chance to use the Madison's Advocate and amazing 5-hour masterclass (not the Ellusionist version) a shot.
Hello Rockgiant, so great to get a comment from you. Oh how I love the music of Cape Breton and the fiddlers and musicians from there. Such a fan of the music. I may need to work in a Cape Breton tune here and hope I do not butcher it. Thanks so much for being here and leaving the comment.
If you had the original Cheetah would you stick with the original or would you replace it with this one? Wish you would have compared it more to the original. You said you wouldn't use it in jeans while original I use in jeans. Are there anything you like more about the original?
This is a really good question. I honestly think it comes down to a preference for a single pocket index or a two pocket index. If you like the original Cheetah I personally would just stick with that and would only switch to the 52 Cheetah If I wanted to free up a pocket and do all the work from a single pocket. So in my opinion it really comes down to that preference of two pockets or a single one. You also mentioned jeans. I think for me if the original Cheetah works for you with your jeans then you will have no problem if you switched to the 52Cheetah working with your existing pants. The 52Cheetah is not significantly bigger than the original so that should not be an issue for you. For me I just find my jeans pant pockets too small and tight. If I switched to bigger pocket jeans it would probably be fine. For me I do not have a preference of the one over the other or think one is better than the other. They are both good products. I hope that helps some. Please feel free to ask more if it would be helpful. Thanks so much for being here.
This is a great question. The original two pocket Cheetah index was released in 2022 and in December 2023 the single pocket index 52 Cheetah came out. So yes it is relatively new and I definitely think 52 Cheetah is significantly better than DEX. Stay tuned for a head to head comparison of these indexes in the future. Thanks so much for watching and leaving the comment.
Look if you are going to be a real magician I think you have to have a drawer full of indexes. You will have to excuse me because I have to go buy another chest of drawers to put my new indexes. 😉
Great review. I wonder if this index will be as controversial as Dex was. Could you do a comparison with Dex? Which index do you prefer of all indexes?
Hello Rob, I definitely do not think Cheetah will have the same level of controversy around it. I can say without equivocation that I like Cheetah over DEX. In fact it is so much better that I would not recommend DEX. It is not that DEX is horrible it is just that 52 Cheetah is so much easier to use and with greater confidence that you have the correct card. I hope that helps some. I do hope to do a head to head comparison of indexes in the near future. Take care my friend.
I love the strong conviction you have on this. I find some small things between Cheetah and Eddie Raymond's index that each have that is slightly better than the other and then it will come down to a persons preference as to which one they will like. Thanks so much for being here and adding to the conversation.
Hi Ineverywhisper, If you are referring to the RS part of Eddie Raymond's index I thought the same thing initially and couldn't quite wrap my head around why he would do that but in the real world I find that it creates this ability to better distinguish where you are in the index and increased confidence that I am pulling the right card. That was my experience and I found myself wishing the cards in the cheetah had been R/S'd. That is my experience and hope it helps. Thanks so much for being here and adding to the conversation.
@@fiddlinjonnyIf your confidence is low then you need to go back and practice more. Gaffing cards for an index is too much work and in the real world you want to be able to ring in a duplicate to use in your routine. You don’t want a roughed card that is going to mess up the routine. The Raymond index was a brain fart that has already dissipated!
@@Ineverywhisper Everyone has different things that work for them. Just because you can't comprehend why others would use gaffed cards in an index, that does not mean it's not a good method. It says more about your character than anything.

Vernet with a hard T like fishing net. Jeff McBride said that Roberto Vergonjeanne told him in person
P.S. I love Cheetah, however I had to modify mine because the cards can teeter back and forth like a Grandfather clock pendulum. ✌

Dex is a failed index. Even Penguin Magic admitted it is a 48 card index on their 2023 Penguin Magic Awards video.
The best index by far is the R&S index by Eddie Raymond, hands down, not even close...
