Being a previous GAS GAS owner and now a Rieju owner my sentiments exactly . These are awesome bikes for every day riders ,As if a 2 kilo heavier bike would make a difference to us weekend warriors...KYB ,Kickstart ,Carb...Try and fix a fuel injected bike when the battery is flat or the is fuel pump stuffed when you're a 100 Klms from you truck. Alfredo Gomex (Spain) rides a Rieju in the European WESS .A top 10 rider will always finish in the top 10 no matter what brand of bike he rides.KTM have done themselves irreversible harm .Keep up the good Vids
The other way to look at it is KTM was keeping the GASGAS brand alive by acquiring it, otherwise it was not looking good for the spanish company. i own a 2023 GASGAS trials bike made in the brand new Barcelona factory built by KTM and let me tell you it is absolutely unreal how better the quality control when comparing to previous years GASGAS bikes. Also i see GASGAS being branded more as the "fun" brand more than budget brand, kinda like Husqvarna are the "boutique" brand and KTM being the flagship "ready to race" brand. None of your points are wrong but there is alot of good that come from KTM owning gasgas.
Maybe... Maybe not the parent company of Gasgas was seeing some huge uptick in sales with the 18-19 model years. Truthfully they were never a huge company from what I can see they would have been just fine but KTMs checkbook makes all the difference there. I didn't touch much on the trials bikes because they still rank so low in sales even under KTM. I do wonder how long KTM will keep that factory with them out sourcing more and more. Good thoughts for sure though!
@@pharettface Looks like they're planning to keep the Barcelona factory pumping out the trials bikes. What I heard from industry connections was there are no plans to shutter the Barcelona factory as it was upgraded just before GG went insolvent and separating the trials production line from the Enduros etc makes sense.
I am loving my 2023 MR Pro. I have the sis days one. I think KTM also bought it to get into the Trials market. Gasgas, Beta, and Sherco have a long history in Trials. The MR Pro comes with great parts and suspension. Did you see that the 2024 comes with a US Forest approved spark arrested pipe, the FMF Turbine Core? I don’t know of anything else that has a spark arrested exhaust stock. I bought the same one right away for mine, cost was about $250. Also the 2023 has an FMF pipe too.
It's always the same story with great spanish brands, they get bought by other big brands and they eventually get killed off. Gasgas just seems to me that it is going into that direction Derbi was one of these brands, they made some incredible small cc bikes both for the track and the road while winning several world cups in the small cc categories, one of them being Marc Marquez on 2010 with their 2 stroke 125 but they got killed off by Piaggio because their 50ccs couldn't pass the Euro 5 emissions test
I have a carb Beta 300RR 2 stroke. It is my Princess. Easy to work on and 99% a husky. The money I saved set up the suspension to make It 105% the Husky because I weigh 205 lbs with my gear, not 165 lbs. It also gave me a better seat and a bigger tank.
They are but I would consider them a small company as well. I do think they have a few electrical gremlins to iron out but from SEF300 I rode they are pretty sweet bikes.
@@pharettface Sherco are a combination of French Sherpa and Spanish Bultaco...Great bikes been in Australia a while .Still have a carb and brilliant KYB suspension ...no kick start only e -sart tho
I'm sold. If it's good for rental, it's good to me. I want to build it as a lightweight adventure bike. What is your opinion about the ranger vs racing models? Which one is better when it's came to ride on speed? Is the ranger the same as xtrainer? Which I think is not so stable at speed.
The Ranger will have a softer and shorter suspension. So it really depends on what your are riding. I have an Xtrainer in my fleet that we love but it does have its limitations for power and suspension. I think the best all around deal is the racing bike.
After seeing how KTM is supporting their customers with the 790/890 cam fiasco. I don't think I can ever buy another KTM/husky/Gas Gas. It's not worth the risk to me. I'll take my super reliable Rieju any day over one of the Austrian brands.
Ktm makes some good bikes but I hate how they gobble up companies and turn out pretty just the same bikes. Not to mention how much they out source to other countries now. I have a Rieju 300 pro. It’s an excellent bike. Whenever I ride any of my friends bikes I always want to get back on my bike in short order. I have had starter issues though 😢
Oh bummer! Hopefully you got that sorted. Our 2012 EC300 had Bendix issues but just swapped it once. I've give the Rieju this, you can get to the starter. A starter job on Betas is not fun at all.
I recently bought a 2022 MR250 awesome bike with 10hours on had a bargain on it.

"Ready to race" slogan was originally Husaberg's 😢

I did not know that. That's cool. I mostly saw they finally went to lower gearing and a different needle

They buy them to illuminate competition .

Where does Sherco fit into the mix of things? I know they have a pretty high price point like KTM, and Beta.

I agree. I own a 2022 GasGas. It is just a red KTM and it is poorly designed and made. Nothing but trouble. I wish I had bought a Yamaha instead.
I'm a huge yz250x fan. It's still a simple old school 2 stroke, that's light and nimble with great suspension.
You can get a gas gas it’s a rieju now
Yeah I am riding one...
I like the betas
KTM did want the trials bikes to cover that market. Rieju didn't get the trials bikes, KTM now makes them.
That is true. I didn't touch on that much given how few trails bikes are sold but that and Tarrots E bike tech is what KTM really wanted.
I bought 2011 gasgas ec 300 for cheap. Does anyone know if there are any known problems?
The bendix with the starter can be an issue. We had a 12 but I think we only ever had to swap it once and its a very easy job.
