I was literally searching to see if anyone had done this before because I have several pair that are worn out in terms of tread but still have life. Not only did you do it, you next leveled it and WOW!! Love it!
I like this so much that i took my crocks to my local cobbler shop and had this done w slightly different sole. I tested them by wearing them in the pool and on my boat. They still float and all my friends that I fish with are now taking they're in to have them done too. My cobbler guarantee them to not come loose he said if they do he will reattach them for free for the life of the shoe. The sole i chose was called " mini lug" its like a very low profile tread of a hiking sole only 1/4" thick and very flexible. I notice a slight difference but not much i still have all the comfort and i dont feel any rocks like i used too because they were wearing thin the best thing is they dont slip any more. Now for the kicker here.... i am a 40 year retired shoe cobbler and did this to my own crocks. I live in the southern USA and these are very popular here. People are bringing them to me to " trick them out" as they say. ...One young guy that rides ATV's stated that i made his crocks 4 weel off road compliant. Also they dont think of it in terms of it being a repair but more as an upgrade to look cool, different, a conversation piece as well as making them last much, much longer. Because im retired and work out of my barn/shop i charge $35.00 to do them but do expect to pay a professional that has overhead cost at least $20.00 more.
I'm not a croc wearing kinda guy, but those did turn out looking good when you got done with them. And also, I like the way you do your videos with just the background music, and the sounds of the machines. Yeah. Peace
@CobblerG what kind of glue did you use? I tried using gorilla contact adhesive because it's flexible, but it just feels off, same thing with shoe goo and e600, I have the echo crocs so my plan was to add strips of rubber on the ridges on the bottom

LOL crocabikes. I like the not quite book matched pair of soles. They look legit like the croc and the tyre were made for each other. Reminds me of when I had clogs (real wood ones) and used similar rubber offcuts to re shod them every 6 months or so. It gives you a different perspective on shoes when you maintain them as you would a car or bike instead of bin them at the first sign of wear and tear. Those clogs lasted me around 13 years
What sort of adhesive did you use. When you were squeezing it out of a bottle, I thought it was cyanoacrylate but then you brushed it on both surfaces so I thought it must be a contact adhesive. What did you actually use? Thanks
Hi Mark. I am looking to get my current Crocs re-soled. They are still 99% in working order, so I would like to keep hold of them. Is this a service that you are still offering? I will be in Edinburgh in a couple of weeks. Thanks
In Peshawar in the tribal area of Pakistan in the shoemakers Bazaar in the old part of town, their sandals are hand made, using old car tyres for the soles. I bought some and wore them in Asia for years and in the UK also. They're the best and cheapest footwear I've ever had and only some secondhand ex German army para boots were as tough and they were waterproof and lasted on the motorbike all winter in all day rain and I trekked across the northern foothills of the Himalayas bordering Nepal over 120 miles in a week plus a 2 week trek to Sundardunga Glacier around Nanda Devi National park. The sole came unglued at the front and wore out but despite this they were still really good on the uppers after several years of secondhand usage and now they're hard to find secondhand and I haven't had any since 1997. You would love seeing the Pakistani pushtun shoemakers in that shoemaker quarter of the old market. I recommend a holiday there to anyone and especially going to Chitral, Tirich Mir and the Hindu Kush. I spent over 3 months there in 1997 , a month in Feb 97 and 9 weeks in July, aug, sept 97 and your boots would keep my feet dry and comfortable which is so so important and in 2012 I was in the worst weather in over 200 years in India. Minus 15c in the day. I'm fortunate to still be here as we were snow and iced in at 2000m near Kasar Devi temple on a ridge in the Himalayan foothills.
Hello, wouldn’t it be better to glue with polyurethane glue type windshield glue or sikaflex pro? Unlike the neoprene glue this would ensure more water tightness? Thank you for the video this is excellent. Regards, jean
Just a quick question, how come you used superglue as well as neoprene?! Does it make it bond better?! I work for Timpson too, always looking for hints and tips etc.
What brands and types of cemented glue do you use. I have used a few different types that were rubbish so just looking to streamline with the correct products
Slowly chipping away at your videos.. Learning about this craft and how mataculous the process is. Realising that some shoes are worth paying for an expert to fix them up and breath new life into them. Wasn't expecting the next video to be crocs 😂 curious, why did the customer want this done?
Aye this was a totally different request from the usual work. The guy works up at knockhill race track, we have done several pairs for the guy! It was a pretty cool idea to realise for him. 👊
I like the idea because I had to throw away a pair because I wore them out in a field full of thorns and they stuck in the soles and every time I stepped after that day a thorn would stab my foot
The Croc's will not float after putting the tyre tread on them it's not a concern, but I've always been fascinated that they DO float in the "first place." A fine job creating one off upgraded sandals.
I would think that this repair is not available to the public and if it was. Expensive?. It has give me a thought about having my old Sidi cycling shoes resoled.
Definitely available to the public, this specific pair the customer supplied the tyres, this reduced the cost of the repair as I wasn't using my own materials. The overall job was around £30. 👊🏼
You can always ask, see what they say. I would take it on no problem, every branch is a little different in both skill and knowledge, worth a try though.

Mark I often wondered why Shoes or Boots could not be resoled using Pirelli Michelin or Yokohama tyre Tread because if the car you drive can get 20k miles out of them then it makes sense to put them on your shoes😜 Only downside is you would be sitting drinking a lot of coffee waiting for the tread to wear out😂😂😂 Superb Original Work Sir and great to watch.
