Don't believe the lie about regeneration. In absolutely no way does the Bible preach such a concept. We're saved via accepting Christ, which we do via placing our faith in Christ and Him crucified.
It is interesting that this came up on my feed as our women’s group is studying Piper’s Desiring God where he advocates for “Christian hedonism.” Something didn’t sit right with me in Piper’s explanation of the term. It’s because he left off the “avoidance of pain” in his definition of hedonism. I really appreciate RC Sproul’s teachings. I’m grateful for his myriad of recordings now that he’s no longer with us.
keep honing those senses. Piper poisoners Jesus+hedonism for final justification instead of Jesus alone foundation is built on this strange doctrine (Hebrews 13:9). He positively quotes multiple catholics, mass affirmer CS Lewis, and other dangerous people who had departed in apostasy. If you do by chance read this, warn your group on Piper. He affirms Rick Warren to Beth Moore because he has a faulty foundation. One must believe on Jesus alone for salvation, for past, present, and future justification and not Piper's one must be a hedonist to go to heaven doctrine.
Wish I could have heard this years ago.... I wish my daughter would listen to this and understand it..... The Lord God offers JOY not happiness.... The fruits of the Spirit are..... Love, Peace, Joy..... Longsuffering.... Jesus is the perfect example.... I have been a fool.... Build on the Rock and not sand.... Build on the Word of the Lord God
@PandaCheeks why did you respond with nonsense. I was merely pointing out that RC is not an Evangelical charismatic self-determination salvationalist Arminianist stillborn Christian. Becareful you might fall.
@MisterJonVox We are all fallen already, Princess Buttercup! 😂 Hence why we need Jesus... ;) and like I said don't let any man tell you who God is but only God the father The Holy Spirit and The Son! Man has no power, dominion or say over God!
So refreshing to hear someone else talk about how often we say I feel when we should be saying I think. As a college writing instructor, I am also constantly correcting my students and explaining to them the difference between think and feel. Awesome video! Thank you!
We aren’t always taught as Christians that to follow Christ is going to be painful. You will still enjoy life but you will be asked to hate the world. There will be pain and suffering and self denial even though works don’t mean anything and contribute in no way to your salvation. The spirit will ask for sacrifice. There is only one thing we can do and that is pick up our cross and follow Jesus. I hope Jesus allows me the renewal of Spirit to empower me to walk away from the pursuit of feeling good at all costs and to move toward what is asked of me for his glory. Thank God for this ministry.
The charismatic movement seems to fit this meditation like a glove. Is it not what Luther described as enthusiasm? The vindication of a walk with God on the "anointed" feeling, and are not the vast majority of contemporary christian songs based to either bolster or even instill this feeling?
It has been said in these last days that Christ Jesus was the Bar-Setting Ultimate Hedonist For He Always kept His Pleasure in and For His Father.. PERFECTLY FOR THE JOY SET BEFORE HIM HE ENDUREDTHE CROSS DESPISING THE SHAME
Sproul was born in 1939 and he looks about 40ish here so I'd say this was the late 70s or early to mid-80s. You Light Up My Life by Debbie Boone was released in 1977 so right on the money...I'd say this was recorded in 1979. Helen Gurley Brown, editor of Cosmopolitan magazine, was big in the 70s and 80s too, so that also fits. I graduated high school in 1979 so this is the timeline of my youth. All these people he speaks of are very familiar to me.
@@marjieyoung9570 Sure that was the original date? I ask because he mentions Debbie Boone and says a couple of years ago in reference to her song. It came out in 1977, so a couple of years after would be 1979. Regardless, I thought it was late 70s to early to mid-80s and was pretty close. How did you find this date? Thanks.
@@jodyel That is the date they provide on their site online. You can find it if you search for the 12 part series 'Christian Worldview' in their store and see the details on it.
Well, put simply, the teachings of practicality all modern churches. Truth is irrelevant. Being physically “blessed” is all that matters. In fact, the level of your blessings reveals how godly you actually are.
@@Yesica1993 I notice the volume is considerably lower on Ligonier videos also. I usually have to listen with the volume turned all the way up and limiting other noises around. I think it's just the settings Ligonier has for their videos. It definitely makes me pay attention better. 😂 If you put on the closed captions it helps a lot.
I view Hedonism and Utilitarianism in a similar light. Primitive systems that can inform us in times of ignorance, but won't provide satisfactory results in the long term.
Piper has this weird clearly bad doctrine that uses eros is above agape, and even says, "you do not go to heaven unless you are a christian hedonist." You'd think all his affirming Rick Warren/Beth Moore/Christine Caine/NT Wright, and others would be enough to warn people off him.

R.C. Sproul was such a great teacher and Christian leader. He is sorely missed.
I'm just now learning of him he was fantastic 🙏

He was a deceiver, and that goes for all of Ligonier -- a demonic ministry.
What a teacher, He's missed dearly. Every Christian should listen to his series on "The Hollins of God"

@MisterJonVox That's right! Let man tell you who God is! 😂😅
@andrewrivers you cannot come unto him. You're dead in sins and trespasses. Eph 2, 1-3 past tense proving regeneration precedes faith. 👍

Good question. A lot of these teachings from R.C., on RUclips, are shorter versions of the full episode, or so I've been told .........
What year was this ?

Sproul gained a lot of weight and sported a big belly since this taping. Maybe he was abit of the hedonist himself!
