    I think for the most part, the subclass holds up as a fun option due to the features you get at 3rd level. That said, I do agree that the Level 11 feature Tranquility, while thematic, is basically a "ribbon" feature with next to no practical use. The only other shame is that Quivering Palm comes online so late in the game, so most players will never get to experience using the ability. Also, imagine if you have a party member like, say a Divination Wizard with Portent; Quivering Palm, then have the party member make them fail the save with a low roll Portent.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Месяц назад

      Let’s just make quivering palm a level 11 ability and the level 17 be you can get one free cast per short rest

    This is a fun subclass. It’s a weird combination of combat and non combat abilities. The healing is a great out of combat option but the sanctuary ability is odd to put on a monk that focuses on combat.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Месяц назад

      Right? I feel like they should bump up quivering palm and the 17th level ability lets you cast it for free once

    These fun effects of Flurry of Blows would be enough for me to stay. I like it with Druid Multiclass, preferably Moon Druid.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Месяц назад +1

      That is a super popular multiclass but it dose run into issues with level divides. If you can figure that out it definitely has a strong presence.

      @@TheSinisterheroes I've been looking into more Dream Druids. I think it'll be fun just sleeping everywhere.

      @@xiongray they can be really cool. I happen to like Druids a lot. Dream is no exception. You get some really cool tricks with them.

    I like the combat flavor of this subclass no idea why it gets sanctuary

    How about the Ember of the Fire Giant feat with a Fire Genasi Way of Open Hand build. Include Tavern Brawler and the Crusher feats.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Месяц назад +1

      I like the fire theme, and how it sounds. It created this very offensive based support ability. That and upping your wisdom would benefit all your other monk saves.
      Tavern brawler isn’t really as great in 5e as it is in bg3. Considering your flurry of blows has a similar ability to the movement granted when landing an attack. Though crusher on monks I think works really well as an alternative to something like the mobile feat.
      You would have to be level 12 or level 8 with custom lineage. With custom lineage you would lose out on most all of the things fire Genasi get.
      I personally would drop tavern brawler. Outside of that if you rolled stats and rolled well I could see it working well.

    • @LawrenceDomkowski
      @LawrenceDomkowski Месяц назад +1

      @@TheSinisterheroes I've tried it with Point Buy and General Array and it works okay, but taking the gamble and rolling the stats has too much upside for one not to try. I'm still working on the order these feats should be selected.

    • @LawrenceDomkowski
      @LawrenceDomkowski Месяц назад

      @@TheSinisterheroes One could also swap out Tavern Brawler with Elemental Adept: Fire, allowing the Monk's fire damage to bypass fire resistance.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Месяц назад +1

      That’s a tricky situation. I would like the fire stuff first as it seems more character oriented, and I’d want that faster than the others. That’s me though.

    The 3rd level features are really good, but a once per long rest (maybe short rest) 1st level cleric spell at 11th level is a joke. If it was a free casting of bless when the monk started combat, that would be pretty cool.
    They went with a total thematic ribbon feature when the monk needed a combat boost.
    Bad call.
    I’d switch quivering palm to 11th and make it 6d10 save for half with necrotic or radiant damage, then have it scale as written at level 17.
    I would change the capstone to maybe even include bless as an always on feature.
    Everyone knows monks scale poorly, they should make players want to stay in a chosen class.
    Just my $0.02 worth.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Месяц назад +1

      My opinion for a correction is not far off from yours to be honest I just didn’t include bless

    • @michaelmuirhead910
      @michaelmuirhead910 Месяц назад +1

      Yeah, I think switching it to lvl 11 is the right call, but a save or die at 11 with 10d10 dmg on a fail seems a bit too powerful.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Месяц назад +1

      @@michaelmuirhead910 we could drop the dice and have it be an upgrade at a higher level I’d be cool with that

    • @michaelmuirhead910
      @michaelmuirhead910 Месяц назад +1

      @@TheSinisterheroes that was my thinking, but still having a save or die at level 11? I can’t find any other class ability that matches that kind of power at level 11. Even the best spells (with few exceptions) have that kind of power at character level 11.

    • @TheSinisterheroes
      @TheSinisterheroes  Месяц назад

      But the balance is the monk is looked upon as weaker than a lot of other classes. This one skill makes it seem pretty balanced considering your dancing around fighters and paladins

      They should have something else like an additional hit for flurry on blows or there martial arts lets them make two unarmed strikes cus at that level it isn’t even a lot of damage
