  • Dollar Tree is raising prices again! Dollar Tree will still mainly remain $1.25 but they are introducing products into every aisle that are priced as high as $7. What do you think of this?

The main reason I liked shopping at Dollar Tree was because I knew going in everything was $1. $15 meant I could buy 15 items. I didn't have to compare prices or worry that something was in the wrong place etc.

I agree. Greed has overtaken Dollar Tree's Logic. Family Dollar stores were not popular for a reason, they sell overpriced, cheaper quality products that look cheaply packaged.
I was shocked when Dollar Tree consolidated their stores with Family Dollar. I knew it was the beginning of the end of DT's popularity, in my opinion! ) : It made me very sad. I have shopped happily at DT for over 34 years, ever since I was a young bride/mother. DT was my salvation and I touted its worth and amazingness to everyone!
Sadly, I no longer brag about Dollar Tree and soon, it appears, I won't shop there anymore. ) : I already find myself just buying my stuff at Walmart once a week. ) : So sad to see Dollar Tree go this path. ) :

My advice, take your Walmart app with you when you shop and are tempted at dollar tree. Scan the item in to comp price. If the item doesn’t scan enter it manually and compare ounce for ounce. This is a really sad day. Gone is the store that you never had to ask how much something was. Along with the changing of the prices should come the changing of the name of the store. It’s basically a Dollar General now.

Shame on them for doing this during such a difficult financial time for our country. I was already drifting away because I can get a lot of things for a dollar or less at Walmart and it's right across the street from our Dollar Tree. The new higher ups must not realize that DT stores are typically disorganized, w/products mixed together from different shelves, things stuffed behind on shelves, & often piles of things on the bottom shelves thst you have to sift thru. Unless they're going to keep it neat, I can foresee lines of ppl at the price checkers before going to the registers. I also foresee angry customers complaining that certain products were in $1.25 sections. Lots of ppl are hurting financially, too, & DT has been the last option for some ppl. I've never bought food before at DT, but used to get 20 craft items for $20, & now it's 16 items for $20. If ppl were getting food, that's a big diff, & now it'll be even worse! We already have Dollar General stores, so why is DT trying to compete w/them when DT was already #1 in the $1 & 99cent market? Also, DG stores are everywhere, & I've even seen a DG Mart grocery store! Unless DT steps up their $1.25 offerings, ppl will just go to DG - at least they still have a $1 section, too! As a crafter, I'd like to see more at $1.25 than nicer, expensive options. If I want to spend more, I'll go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's w/a coupon & shop sales!

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video. It’s a huge help to all of us. They have to be getting rid of a bunch of the $1.25 items in order to make room for the more expensive items. The square footage in the stores is still the same. However, I can see getting rid of some of the stuff they carry. It is so cheap, and falls apart so easily that it’s hard to believe it ever sold in the first place. It’s going to be interesting to watch. I used to be a huge Big Lots shopper. I may go two or three times a year, if that now. I never go in a family dollar. And I’ve never been a fan of Dollar General. The fun of going to Dollar tree more often was because it was easy to shop at. I’m sure I’ll move on from it just like I did Big Lots. Never fear though…there’s almost always someone ready to open up a new store to give people the shopping experience they like. Ollie’s is what came on the scene that offers what Big Lots used to offer. And Big Lots is now struggling to stay afloat. Maybe another store will open that will have what Dollar tree used to have. I know it can’t stay the same price forever. However, keeping the same priced items together in the same isles is shopping we liked, and appreciated with Dollar tree. I don’t mind them adding some higher priced items, but mixing them in with everything else just zaps the fun out of going to Dollar Tree.

Yep. They saw customers' incomes & saw potential profits, yet failed to ask ppl why they shop at DT in the 1st place! We go out of our way for a store that's worth the trip. If the prices are in-line w/DG & Walmart, why make the extra trip to DT??? Ppl don't go there to spend a lot of $ bc they make a lot of $. They go there regardless of what they make bc they HATE spending $, & DT was the one store where ppl were guaranteed to spend less! It's not worth the extra trip when everything + more groceries are at Walmart! This is such a bad move & business model! Why do they think Family Dollar failed? It's bc they tried to compete be DG, Walmart, & 5 Below. DT basically owned the $1 market!

    • @sstephens2175

@@trishgels EXACTLY!!! And from reading the comments almost everyone feels this way. I definitely won’t go like I have for the past 35 years. I’ve shopped regularly since they first opened. Just like I make no effort to frequent family dollar, dollar general, or big lots, I will no longer be frequently visiting Dollar tree. Instead I will hit up Target and Walmart dollar spots, since I will already be in those stores. Olllie’s has become my new go to for fun shopping and picking up new books. However, if Dollar Tree follows the same model as Dollar General, and opens in rural, and low income places they may still have enough people to stay alive. Simply because people in those areas don’t have anything to chose from. Or in poor cites where a lot of the lower income walk everywhere, and don’t own cars. They walk to dollar tree and dollar general. Even considering all of those options I don’t see their profits staying like they have been, because it seems as if those areas aren’t what they are after. They are focusing on the rich. The rich do shop there for very few things. Their main shoppers who drive their sales aren’t the rich. It’s the middle and lower income people.

I am still ticked off that they raised prices to $1.25 while the quality and quantity when down on many of their items. Btw, Temu has also been continuously raising their prices. They are almost matching Amazon prices on many items. Why wait for three weeks from Temu anymore when Amazon items usually ship in one day.

@@onomatopoeia3700you are so right. During my last Temu order the items in my cart felt high so I price compared with Amazon, and about half of the items were cheaper on Amazon. The price hikes are getting out of hand
