I actually just built Glissa, the Traitor deck around the same concept of creature cost reduction (including Nylea) for free creature recursion and destruction along with Attrition and other sac/destruction spells.
I love weird decks that aren’t the same common commander / build that you see all the time. This storm deck is great, keep it up! Love to see your personal decks.
Oh jeez. This looks so cool. I just realised that if you put in a Cloudstone Curio you have infinite green mana via Cloudstone + Nylea + Tangleroot + 2 Myrs by bouncing each other (replace Tangleroot for Bontu’s Monument is also infinite life drain). Pour that mana into Nylea as an outlet to draw your library and find your win con. Also consider Concordant Crossroads to give creatures haste. Both of these are expensive but can really pump that deck’s power. Love the video, Mitch.
I think one of the largest reasons why I love your Deck Techs is because of all those thousands of bulk cards I've collected that sit in boxes because they aren't "overpowered, mythic or rare staples" you find good ways that I can make use of them. Keep on, good sir, keep on. These cards need to feel the warm embrace of a sleeve once more!
Use Mycoloth a 4/4 Fungus for 3GG Devour 2. He would get a lot of +1/+1 counters on him plus at the beginning of your upkeep your creating that many saproling tokens
I love Nylea! I pulled one when TBD came out and made a mono-green stompy EDH deck. She’s one of my favorite decks and she’s super underrated. She has a great stat line, Makes good creatures cheaper, and helps you find your best stuff, what’s not to like?
I love this. I love the idea of jank. It reminds me of my fblthp deck that had 30+counters. And proteus staff so i can arrange the entire deck in the way i want with my win cons being metallurgic summonings, ominous seas, and shark typhoon with 30 counters and draw spells
let's go Mitch, more gameplay videos, show us this in action against Jhoira and Anje. I built your Jhoira a while back, is absolutely my favourite deck and just recently put together a version of Anje similar to yours. Love your work.
Started building this deck about a year ago because of an FNM Promo pack foil Nylea. Ended up shuffling things around so much that it became elfball led by Marwyn, the Nurturer instead. I did build a different mono green storm deck though, with Omnath, Locus of Mana at the helm, fetching all forests out of my deck, drawing silly amounts of cards with Return of the Wildspeaker and the like, enhance how much mana my forests tap for with Nyxbloom Ancient and Zendikar Resurgent, dump all of my hand, then untap lands with Nissa, Who Shakes the World and Garruk Wildspeaker, start over with The Great Aurora, and finish with Weather the Storm and Squall Line, to actually play a storm card in mono Green storm. It's not really budget though, might not be this channel's jam, but it's about as fun to play as the showcased deck is.
This deck is sweet! A year or so ago I put together a mono green storm deck with Sasaya. The goal of the deck was to figure out a way to flip him with a variety of cheap instants and sorceries that put land in your hand (the most fun of which being Sprouting Vines), then you would win the game with Sphinx Bone Wand or Aetherflux Reservoir. If I really wanted to have a fun time, I would tie the game with a massive Hurricane or Squall Line.
I've seen a pretty similar mono green storm but it was Goreclaw. I laughed and thought there was no way it would be good but it was nuts. Non-traditional builds like this are awesome! Great job!
Seeing this video again a few days ago, an alternative commander to build this deck around is Umori, the Collector (the Golgari Companion). It is similar to Nylea, Keen-Eyed in that it can also reduce the cost of creatures (if chosen) by 1. But there are things to take in accounts : Pros : 1/ Umori grants access to black color, so more artifacts or deadly creatures can be added 2/ As of today, Umori costs 0.27$ while Nylea, Keen-Eyed costs 3.73$, so for a more budget alternative, this is the way to go 3/ Umori is as easy to cast as Nylea due to having the same mana value and you can dump all mana of either green or black into it Cons : 1/ Umori is not indestructible, so it can be dealt with more easily than Nylea 2/ Building a Golgari storm deck the way you did for Nylea would be probably more complicated due to actually caring enough about the mana base to not have dead draws 3/ Unlike Nylea, Umori doesn't have the former's activated ability to get a potential creature into our hand from the top, so Season of Growth may be required this time around I'd say it comes down to preference (and budget options), but I thought it would be nice to point this out.
I've been building my Grakmaw deck in this way for a while now. I had season of growth in their a while ago just to fill ranks, but it turned out to be such a bomb it inspired the storm churn idea for me. I also dropped in one of my favourite enchantments, Lurking Predators.
I am officially buying this deck. The upgraded version though because this deck is super nasty! My meta won't even see it coming! Thank you for what you do
I just started testing this out and it's a ton of fun! Unfortunately, it's felt super inconsistent. I made a few changes: Swapped in Skullclamp! So many creatures have 1 toughness that Skullclamp works awesome here for more draw Swapped in Guardian project. More draw. Swapped in Path of Discovery. Not draw per say, but just like Scry, explore helps a ton to choose the cards you want, and if you get a land with it then it's an extra draw. Has the same issue as Season of Growth, though, so watch out for turn length if you do play this. Razorgrass Screen and Heap Doll. Work better than some of the 0/2's and 1/2's with Skullclamp, still cost 1 generic. Glimpse of Nature. Beast Whisperer on a sorcery. I don't typically care about price since I just play using Tabletop Sim, so I haven't looked to see if any of these options are budget at all, but they're good includes if budget isn't a restriction!
This is not a drill. I'm not anywhere in this list. I think Dave has abducted Mitch. Send help! 19:13 in the usual place, and I'm currently $3.10 for my Duel Decks: Venser vs Koth printing on TCGPlayer.

i don't know if you thought about this but memnite from the mystery booster is like a $1 card that costs 0. you could replace universal automaton with it to slightly improve consistency.
My current favourite edh deck is Animar creature storm. It's a bit of a higher budget deck (thanks Eldrazi), but casting 20+ creatures in a single turn and then decking myself by turn 6/7 is some of the most fun I have at our events. Anyway thank you for the videos and the tips and ideas.
As soon as Nylea showed up I realized what's up... Yup. Also I think season of growth is fine - Once you're storming off, you're just keeping anything that keeps your chain going and bottom-ing everything that doesn't. Not too time consuming.
I do the same thing with my Chulane Deck!! With a bunch of 1 and 0 mana creatures, you can ramp like crazy and net a bunch of mana in one turn. He's got built-in card draw too!
This deck mimics my playstyle almost perfectly. There's the way the commander asks to be built, and then there's the ways to flip it on its head; and I very much prefer to flip commanders on their heads rather than play them as they were intended. I got my most powerful commander deck out of that thought.
Commander theory made a Nylea deck like this when Theross Beyond death came out. Look up their episode Theros Beyond Death set review part 1 and skip to 16:35, they talk about a Nylea all creatures cost 1 generic to cast deck. They propose different finishers (infinite Mana walking ballista), but the front end is largely the same. Really cool and fun deck regardless.
Throw a cloudstone curio in there to better go infinite. I do this with Animar. Free creatures, Protean hulk searches them all out plus purphoros and another red etb pinger. 40+ damage to the table. I will definitely be adding Tangle root in there. Thanks for that tip.
Mitch, you're a mad genius, this is a brilliant idea for a deck, and I applaud your creativity. That being said, this is one of the worst decks I've ever seen. As a primarily flavor-based Commander player, the idea of Nylea, Goddess of the Hunt, champion of the natural world leading an army of artifact creatures is enough to make me sick.
One way to add some extra storm to this deck would be to add in hunting pack, it’s pretty cheap(money wise), costs 4 colorless 3 green mana and says “create a 4/4 beast, storm”
Also sprouting vines is a good way to clean some forests out and draw into the good stuff without losing out on the mana like a Izzet storm deck would have to
This will be my next build! I love the efficiency! My favorite Commander deck that this reminds me of is my Vial Smasher partnered with Ardenn intrepid archeologist where I play crazy infect and awesome equips! Casting equipments usually sucks unless you have the mana to equip, but NOTHING beats burning by casting equipments and equipping for free 😁😁 makes equipment spells feel good again
Nice! My personal wildest Commander is Kwain. It’s so nutty of a commander, it comes off group hug then turns into ridiculous control and bounce spells. Lol
I'm shocked you didn't include Sprouting Vines as a way to filter out a ton of your deck when your mana pool finally starts to dwindle, especially with the bear enchantment
Excuse me if I’m missing something but wouldn’t this concept just be better with Umori from Ikoria? It gives you access to Black for better Storm payoff (and Reap the Graves to sac and replay all of your creatures again) and still reduces the cost of creatures by 1 like Nylea. It just seems like Umori is the better option for a deck like this...
The basic idea of Mitch's deck was to keep the deck just one color, in this case Green. Using a Commander with two colors available kinda violates that basic premise, even if the only color run in the deck is Green....
I love these kind of decks I made an Arjun storm deck with rituals and cards like teferi’s ageless insight so u draw ur deck it’s very fun and plays solitaire.... there’s even a ritual that gives you red equal to the cards in your hand :)
Super unique! I will point out that there's been a Mono-green storm deck in cEDH around Selvala since she came out. Just Google Selvala Brostorm for a primer!
Just last night I was looking at my Nylea Keen Eyed wondering what to do with it. I'm pretty sure I have 99% of these cards laying around too... Time for a new deck!
Great deck mitch but i would suggest looking into Spout Swarm it will let you turn any untapped creatures into even more creatures and can close a game out by itself.
Hey Mitch... Sprouting Vines, Weather the Storm, and Hunting Pack. Surprised you didn't mention either one of them lol. They're the only green spells that have "storm" and I could see them being pretty insane with this deck. All your lands, massive amounts of life, and a ridiculous amount of 4/4 beast tokens.
Use Umori to unlock black, allows you to add additional draw engines (Grim Haruspex etc) and wincons (Zulaport Cutthroat etc) and additional ways to gain mana

2/ As of today, Umori costs 0.27$ while Nylea, Keen-Eyed costs 3.73$, so for a more budget alternative, this is the way to go
3/ Umori is as easy to cast as Nylea due to having the same mana value and you can dump all mana of either green or black into it
Cons :
1/ Umori is not indestructible, so it can be dealt with more easily than Nylea
2/ Building a Golgari storm deck the way you did for Nylea would be probably more complicated due to actually caring enough about the mana base to not have dead draws
3/ Unlike Nylea, Umori doesn't have the former's activated ability to get a potential creature into our hand from the top, so Season of Growth may be required this time around

This is a Birgi deck in green. A very unique take on the new Nylea!
this is genius, seems like such a fun deck to run
I love storm decks and this mono green storm deck has me super excited great job!
You're a mad scientist!
Just last night I was looking at my Nylea Keen Eyed wondering what to do with it. I'm pretty sure I have 99% of these cards laying around too... Time for a new deck!
It is crazy how much I love this deck idea.
Lovely deck !! Fantastic idea, Mitch !
I was myself recently wanting to try a Nylea value creature typo deck. This one looks much funnier !
Man I just started builded Alek's deck from the Spicy Sauces episode and you do this? Y'all build way too good of decks Mitch!
Use Umori to unlock black, allows you to add additional draw engines (Grim Haruspex etc) and wincons (Zulaport Cutthroat etc) and additional ways to gain mana
Very out of the box, and very fun looking! Great job on this one Mitch!
Mitch is one of the few magic creators I still enjoy 100% of the time, others who won't be named are too sponsor-heavy or salty. Mitch stays an unproblematic budget champ 💪
love that you used essence of the wild, used that back when it was in standard. such a fun way to win!
Sounds fun! I want to see this deck in action.
I really hope we get to see you play this soon. Looks nuts lol
