I'm going to continue my binge watch from the first episode in 1960 until at least Hilda's departure. I don't know if I'll then be able to cope with Barlow being around with his smug self love. If he was chocolate he'd eat himself. Same for Gail. The Duckworths and current Tilseys are worse than a boil on the rear end. Knowing that Bradley gets bombed is encouragement to continue as is seeing Jack and Terry get smacked and hoping to see the mouth get something similar. I've largely enjoyed the binge so far and the 60s and 70s were top class. I saw very little of Corrie live after the early 80s being abroad in work and now retirement. And thanks to this channel and others for making this rewatch possible. Superb work.
One of the few times I really felt for Ivy. Overall she was hard work but I really loved the character. What a fine actress Lynne Perrie was. Thank you for the upload.
I loved the character too. It honesty infuriated me when she was treated like dirt by Audrey. She even cared about David even though he wasn't her biological grandson.
Gail is a hypocrite , our Brian meets someone new she pretends she's angry because it's confusing Nicky well if she hadn't slept with the Aussie things might have been different they all seem to have amnesia where that's concerned.
It makes you sick, doesn't it? Gail playing the victim, turning everybody, she can, against Brian. When all the blame lies with her. And that mother of hers, who came to town, with a mattress strapped to her back.
Brian did put his cousin between he and Gail quite a lot during his visit. Does anyone think Brian planned this, knowing that Gail wandered before when he was out of town?
I’ve always really liked Ivy. I don’t think she was as poisonous as people made out. She just wanted what she thought was best and she had a faith. She gave Brian & Gail homes numerous times, babysat, gave them money and was even on Gail’s side after she got pregnant during her shagging of that Aussie bloke. Ivy’s life was also particularly tragic. Bert’s unemployment, mental health problems (which were very taboo the time), poverty, Bert’s death, the threat of Gail & Brian going to Australia, Gail’s affair with her niece, loneliness and then the destruction caused by Brian’s murder. I thought Lynne Perrie was a great actress and made Ivy very believable and realistic. She gets ignored as a Corrie legend but she absolutely is one. Three cheers for the late Lynne Perrie.
I completely agree, I loved the character Ivy and could never understand how she was so berated as the mother in law from hell. Gail was the nightmare daughter in law more like. And Lynne Perrie played Ivy to absolute perfection.
I agree as well. Gail treated Ivy badly after Brian died, especially by changing Nicky and Sarah's surname to Platt when Gail married Martin. It was just to spite Ivy who adored her grandchildren and was always there to help Gail.

Ken amd Derdrie are such sanctimonious, pompous, hypocrites I can’t stand it. Their rules change with every situation. They pretend they are these moral paragons yet they flip flop more than a dying fish. I can’t stand either one of them. Having to listen to them is getting unbearable
It's a pity Brian didn't know that Gail was more than willing to get on a plane with Ian, and leave her family behind, when she screaming the odds, as to what's best for young Nicky. Cow.
When Deirdre tells Ken that even his eyes are beginning to get a crafty squint to them, I thought she was going to say “You’re beginning to look like Baldwin.”
I think it’s because Gail had an affair, and he couldn’t tolerate it. But apparently he’s had affairs as well. So , little Brian can’t have it both ways
It was funny when Percy told that Couple who wanted to go to the over 60's Dance they looked well over 60 anyway even though they weren't and they were over the Moon ha ha

Everyone having a go at Brian still and kissing Gail’s ass. If Brian had an affair, they’d all be wanting him burned at the stake. But Gail gets off with his cousin, chases the cousin to the airport to beg her to take him with her (with or without Nicky), gets pregnant at the same time as the affair and so doesn’t know who the father is. And when Brian finds this out, everyone views him as in the wrong. I don’t like Brian but on this, they’re all being absolutely stupid towards him. Perhaps Brian doesn’t want to be near the child in case he gets attached only to find out for sure it’s not his? And they are divorced so he can bonk who he likes. The character never left the street he lived on because there he was "A big fish in a little pond " Well educated, thanks to his hard working parents that he looked down on as they were working class.
