What I got out of this. 1.....cutting a scope in half is a pain in ass. 2. The construction is very good. 3. Materials are very sturdy. 4. Did I say I won't be doing this again lol
Very cool. Thank you for doing that. That Arken was built very well. I'm throughly impressed. Seems better built than my Vortex Viper. This video makes me glad i have an EP5 5-25X56. Im honestly going to purchase another one.
Based on the punishment i had a pretty good idea these are built rock solid; but trying to tear it apart was another episode. More than even the construction the material is solid. The tube is much thicker and of a more dense alloy than i expected.
Man you did it I love to see how things are made. Reminds me when I was a kid if it goes together it has to come apart. Thanks for your autopsy good man.
About time! I’ve been pitching the idea of cutting scopes in half to guntubers for years. Compare the innards to see what actually makes for a better scope (mainly the erector tube spring system, secondary would be materials used). Encase it in resin before sending through a bandsaw!
Yea man. I wish I had a prettier way of doing this. I suspect you find a lot of similar stuff going on with good scopes...and same bullshit with not so good shitm
Thanks for posting video mate! Arken is amazing! But turrets cap screw/thread is sort. Had a loose thread when I'm setting my zero stop up.just wonderingwhere can I purchase the turret cap here in australia? TIA
My only gripe about the EP5 is that there isn’t quite enough adjustment in the parallax to get a really clean sight picture at 1000 yards with out turning the power down to 18x. Other than that its a great optic.
@@RugerGundog Thank you I sent them an email but I couldn’t find nothing online anywhere about them. Greatly appreciated…btw new to your page but enjoying and learning quite a bit 🤙 Semper Fi
My dude, I cannot recommend the use of eye pro enough when using those little Dremel cutting wheels. I've had them explode and hit me in the face multiple times. I doubt that big cut-off wheel will explode, but...
And i cringe when i bump my EP5 in my safe hahaha i suppose it can take it. Thanks for the good video not a lot of reviewers that will go this far appreciate it!
I bought this scope with my own money sir. Considering the abuse i subjected the optic to i did not feel comfortable passing on a potential issue. All i could see happening is i pass to some kid........he takes aim at a 54 point buck and the scope fails and .....well yea; it was sacrificed in stead.
Well so do i. Considering the abuse i did to it the optic was bound to have issues likely at some point. More value in taking a peak within it vs passing along a problem. I do however cash in my points and do a give away annually.
To be fair....this was already ruined via testing purposes. I would not ruin a usable one vs passing it to someone in need. But stay tuned....I have some scope give aways in the works.
I know you have spent a lot of time at the range behind a rifle. But not much time with tools in your hands. Lol That thing is for adjusting your magnification.
Lol. You might have been nervous in front of the camera. I really didn’t want to disrespect you. That was not my intention. Please accept my apologies.
Maybe you can mount your voice to the bench with a little like a regular person would do. And realize that a rechargeable drama is not tool enough to do much on that scope. What a waste of time watching you
Thats great. Glad you enjoyed the content. I do have a "vice" mounted in a different location and opted to not used my "dremel". Insulation is best with better grammar. Thanks for checking in though.
Impressive! 🥲Easy to see why the EP5 held up to your brutal torture test. For giggles, I'd dare Nightforce, Leupold or Vortex to prove their metal and offer scopes for the same brutality. Rest in peace EP5.🪦Well done RugerGundog! 👍 Thank you.
I believe those ''swirls" are cam grooves that act as the magnification zoom mechanism.
Thanks for the insight
Very interesting... my friend... thanks!

I did cringe a bit! But I'm glad you did it and not me! I love my Arken scopes, super scopes indeed for the money!!!!
I agree

Vortex came with my savage 110. Gave it away. Love Arken
Thought the plug was the purge valve. The swirls is the magnification mechanism.
Nope...she is the spring. That big ole spring why they so tactile

More to come...bzzzzzz

Two Words … well now it’s eight…….. water jet!
Naaa.....well...okay yea...not in my garage lol
Safety glasses a must when using a grinder...
All but a few short cuts i did have them on. I do agree; should had them on all the time.

New whole cap.or screw?

Not had that issue with mine. I was able to get out to a mile ok.
That happens even with some higher priced scopes
@@lz3572 Yep, I have the same issue with Primary Arms PLX and Leupold, Night Force has been good.
Anyone else put safety glasses on while watching this? The wheel of death got its name for good reason.
BTW, I own and love 2 Arken’s.
I did have them on. And yes stuff was a flying!
@@RugerGundog I bet it was. That poor dremel disc never stood a chance
Hey boss man question for you I recently lost my illumination cap for my EP 5 do you know where I could get another one?
ARKEN will send ya one. If they won't let me know I can toss this one in the mail.

Way cool! That thing was tough!
Sure is. Made of much thicker housing materials than I expected.
It will probably still work😎
Well....not no moe! Lol
Why you done cut a good scope in half for 😢
It had been torture tested to point of failures already.
@@RugerGundog you’re like Guantanamo bay for cool things man 😂
lol need to mount that vise down.
Naaa ;)
Safety Squints engaged
RIP EP5

I actually did have them on.
@@RugerGundogno you didn’t. At the 11 min mark you can see yourself with no glasses. Stop lying bro. Glad you are ok now
Is it still under warranty 😂
Not no moe!
It would have been really funny to put that on a sweet rifle and go to the range. Imagine the look. 😂
Haahahahahha.
Not a kawi fan but good grief man, cover that thing up with all that metal flying.
Lol....it's dust....she okay :)

Thanks for the comment. Yea your ep5 be fine.
What a friggin shame, should have at least let some
One take a chance with it , but when these RUclipsrs get free stuff they could care less.

You should send it in for a warranty claim
Hahahha....yea that be epic ahhahaja
Little bit of jb weld and krylon will make it look new. 😂
Tape too!
It totally makes me sick that people ruin things that I’ll never be able to get.

They won't. Too much mark up and padding their pockets with every unit sold.
I've seen NF torture tests 15 years ago also a leupold so ya it's been done.
