I used to do this for a living. In my shop, we had a hot tank with water and lye. Soak everything overnight, wash it off with a hose, and everything is clean as a whistle, and it saves a TON of time. No grease, paint, or anything... Just clean metal. Not to be too critical, but the most important part of a rebuild is rings / cylinder hone, and a full head overhaul- There's a lot of carbon in there, the valve disks need to be changed, the seats resurfaced, and new copper gaskets. One more thing: The pump you have is a clone of a Saylor Beal model 905.
You are amazing and really gifted ! Great professional work. The rewiring of the motor had left me without words, very few people knows how to make-it. In fact all you have done was done professional. Congratulations from a mechanical engineer !!!

makes rewinding look simple. it sort of is. i will do audio transformers, but ac motors, the wires too expensive here... they look complex but are pretty basic. doing it neatly is more important than a turn or two here or there...
@@restorationproduct1718 your mother is going to be really upset when she finds out that you used her Tupperware bowls for the electrical box...you guys should mask off the areas that aren't going to be painted... Glad it worked out... One huge compressor...
On that fan welding, I think high nickel rod should be used to keep it together. I certainly like the different sized pistons for low and high air pressure. Much more logical and can still deliver volume when high flow tools are used. ,however
Overall a great restoration, but a lil advice: next time place back the pistions after you installed the cylinders. Compress the rings and use a guide to place them back to avoid sratching the cylinder walls.
I would have enjoyed seeing a hydrostatic test of the tank after you sanded its surface. Looks like motor was originally dual-voltage and has been rewound to be a single voltage?
When ya'll see rust come out with draining the water, one does not know for sure if the tank will stay together at 150 psi. Some failsafe needs applied to compressor tanks. Like temps on turkeys that pop out when cooked enough. Some tank stretched wire around it or something to let the owner know his tank might blow up.
Awesome work, great video!! Maybe some time you could build yourself a sandblasting machine, you can definitely build a air compressor, so you would have that part of it. Sure save you a lot of time grinding on these large projects, just a thought.
paint not cleaned from gasket surfaces, fly wheel balance after welding not checked , but the big one !!!! reciever tank not hydraulically tested,it it fails, lost ear drums ans body parts everywhere, its no joke if an old rusty tank fails.
It is a nice restoration on motor and compressor, but. What condition is inside of the pressure vessel in? Is it hiding a nasty or fatal flaw like pitting or cracks? Maybe the safety/blowoff valve should also be renewed, not just clean and painted. Thankyou for posting video.
I would never trust a tank that old. The tank should have been replaced. It's a bomb waiting to happen. All of that rusty water tells the tale. Hopefully it doesn't explode and hurt anyone.
After a restoration like this, did you place a food storage container to house the contactor switch? In the region where you live, there are no electrical material stores? The restoration of the electric motor was a 10, but the compressor did not use a torquemeter to tighten the connecting rods. Did you change the crankshaft taper bearings?
I think the outside came out nice minus the chosen color scheme, but the innards are very questionable. At the very least hone the cylinders before reassembly.
Bad choice. Example of a non professional to NOT re-balance the fly wheel after welding. This will add wear on the bearings and just create additional problems down the road. I wish these guys would not publish bad videos. Doing it right makes a must better video..
