That first one totally helped you save energy because it blocked most of the other plugs so you couldn't use them. hahahahaha
It's designed to stop you from losing electricity. Since you do lose a little electricity by it always having power to it. I mean, in theory, it probably does something, but very little.
It reminds me of those anti-mouse plugins that emit sounds you can't hear that supposedly drive away mice but don't actually work at all.
@@Pipkiablo Not too sure about that, I don't remember if my parents tried that while we had rats or our current ferrets, but they acted differently when that thing was plugged in. Could be coincidence. but hey, maybe it does emit sound on a level we can't hear.
@@yoshinottv Coincidence. It had no effect on the mice in my grandma's house. In fact, they made a nest in the closet right next to where it was plugged in. They can probably hear something and think, "Huh, that's odd," but it doesn't actually do the intended purpose of scaring the animal off.

Be careful with that negative ion necklace and bracelet. Some scammers are selling actual radioactive products and saying it’s negative ions. Maybe put a Geiger counter next to it
The RUclips channel Thought Emporium did some research on the illegal bracelets. They reported the products, but unfortunately scammers will never go to prison in the US unless you fuck politicians over 🌈
I was also gonna comment this. Anything that says “negative ion” does nothing, or is actually gonna give you radiation poisoning 😂
It is a good idea to check items claiming to generate ions with a Geiger counter. Geiger counters are actually very inexpensive. Some of those ion necklaces contain thorium.
Yeah those are sketchy!
He said "geranium" but might have mispronounced "germanium" so that's probably a radioactive necklace
You actually nailed the description of what that OBD circuit is doing. Just a timer chip with some diodes and resistors to bring the 12V power down to around 3V, and some resistors to set the timing of the chip.
Stuff sold as emitting negative ions often contain thorium oxide. There is a good chance its radioactive. Would be great timing to test some geiger counters.
That sound like the next video
I got an old school Geiger counter. A buddy of mine found it for me. It even has a piece of depleted uranium attached to it to test the counter. Even bought a custom speaker that screws to it to get the famous clicking noises.
thorium isnt that radioactive. our tungsten electrodes are thoriated. not gonna hurt you dude.

4:23 gotta go read the reviews on that. It got 3.9 out of 5. The page says that you have to wait 30 days to notice something and after 60 days you’ll really notice. So you’re not supposed to see a difference until after it’s too late to return.
The power saving box only works if you buy enough to fill every power point in your house so you can’t plug anything in
It won't even work. It will actually increase your power bill. This man thinks he knows something about electrical, but he doesn't. Coming from a 13 year educated electrician who studied electrical theory for an entire year.... that is a preposterous lie and designed for idiots to buy that product
WE WANT GARAGE DOOR BACK!!!!!!
I love how so many of these things are supposedly "power saving" and "eco friendly" yet the power and energy wasted to produce these bricks of plastic and wire take tremendous amounts of of energy to produce and they do absolutely nothing.

They allow the scammers to make a lot of money by collecting the idiot tax from people who have more money than sense.
see it's really an error in translation
it's really "power wasting" and "eco unfriendly"
Tremendous of plastic waste too..
They don't care because idiots buy them all over the world, meaning they get more money back than they ever spent, what they tend to do is buy liquidated stock for another product and just use the case etc.

there's a 99% chance that necklace is radioactive. The Thought Emporium has some videos on it, he's worked with Amazon and the US government to shut down stores selling them. if you can get a Geiger counter and run it over the necklace (and maybe the bracelet) you might not want to keep it in your house afterwards, lol
I’ve seen the same videos exposing radioactivity 😩😩😩
At this point... check everything
Pretty sure he said it "contained germanium" which is radioactive
Honestly, there’s a lot of things which are radioactive. The classic go-to example of that are bananas but there’s one that I like as an example a bit more. It’s kind of a niche thing but I think enough people know about or even use it that it’s important to know about, ifs called the “sun” and while many people who use it praise the benefits of it, I personally think it should be banned. It’s completely unregulated and frankly a disgrace that it’s allowed to even exist. Easily one of the worst discoveries of mankind.

The necklace apparently makes the craziest claim that I've heard of that you put it on and I guess you are supposed to become a super athlete by magic.
I’m just here to say the subtitles when he’s hammering that power saver box says “music” 😂
The black box is a capacitor. All electric motors use them to help get the rotor started. They work by storing electricity that can be instantly dumped into whatever device needs the power which reduces the initial load on the electrical system. They can, in no way at all, save energy by themselves. What they do is allow a motor to run smoother which, under some circumstances, allows it to run more efficiently. It's like if you unplug one fuel injector on an engine and then try to tow something. It will get worse fuel economy and make less power than if all the injectors were plugged in because it isn't running at its optimal state.
The last two products are more than likely laced with thorium oxide. Would be cool to see you use a Geiger counter on them.
It’s a capacitor
I don’t know how effective it will be in small general services such as houses but we use them in distribution utility electricity the clean up the impedance causes by motor start up and shut down. Probably won’t help enough in a home to notice but it is a real thing

You blend into the garage. With have things to look at there. We need that chaos.
The first item could help if your utility charged for reactive power (or apparent power). But unless you're a business that's highly unlikely. This device (which is basically just a big AC capacitor) can help reduce your reactive power. Those wires were pretty thin though, wouldn't be able to absorb much power.
Would be interesting to see those tested with a bunch of box fans plugged in into one power strip and see if the VA on the meter goes down.
There are no capacitors in them, I've cut them open with a disc grinder, that potted thing with 2 wires is just a piece of metal for weight, for them to seem like something is going on. Go watch big clives video on them as well, from years ago, he's done multiple videos on them, and the circuits involved.
Waste of a brain

I like thinking that the makers of the Power Saver scammed themselves. Like they're just so dumb, they actual think it does work 😂
They know it doesn't work, they also know people will buy them anyway
Actually, an electrician in the comments explained that the idea does make some sense, because the capacitor could increase the power factor, but I think in reality it does basically nothing, maybe it could save you a few cents a month max
@@Industry-insider in the usa i dont know of any electric that is paid by VA. since the device only improves power factor (VA) it will not affect the wattage which is how the us bills its electric.
@@jasonbay13 I think a low power factor does actually causes higher watts for the same load, plus there could also be a microscopic gain from smaller power spikes from poorly designed circuits and improperly handled inductive loads being reduced by the capacitor, but it would still never pay for itself, and you’d probably need a bigger capacitor for it to even be measurable
I miss the garage... these blank walls are evil.
3:30 you have an inductive load there, and the power saver is most often just a capacitor that balances out the power types, so that you don't overpay for lost power. Idk if that's the case in the rest of the world, but most often in Poland house power meters don't care much about the type of power you're drawing, but if you own a factory and have huge unbalanced loads then you'll pay super huge amounts for the lost power that comes from too much inductance. The thing is that this tiny power saving defice just doesn't have enough capacity to noticeably change the power factor in a house, and also most of today's household devices are already at near 1.0 power factor. LEDs and other switch mode power supplies are often 0.9+
8:45 it's a capacitor, you can tell just by the fact that the measured resistance was slowly changing. You were charging the capacitor.
When you was bangin that hammer around i was like aye aye aye vibing to the beat of hammer lol
Lmao you reminded me of that guy that made a video of driving his Tesla in a car wash and acting as if he was getting electrocuted 😂😂😂😂😂
That's hilarious😅😅😅😅😅
Not a lawyer, but they get away with it because the first sentence said "it can" not "it will"
The way to see if the power saver is doing anything should have been to plug the strip with both the saver and the fan into the outlet of the Kill-a-Watt. You might have been able to see the Volt-amp-reactive (VAR) number decrease and the power factor move closer to 1.0 when the saver is plugged into the strip with the fan already running. Here in the US power factor, the phase angle between voltage and current, is baked into residential bills assuming an average value. Improving power factor would be kind to your electric company, but it won’t lower your residential bill.
The black box in the power saver might be a capacitor; it seemed to show gradually increasing resistance when the meter was on it. Of course the capacitor, if it is one, is way too small to meaningfully correct the phase angle between the voltage and current waveforms.
Capacitor banks actually do work when they are applied at industrial scale. The business I worked for was majority fluorescent lighting and HVAC blower motors and presented to very inductive load to the power company. It was a non-profit organization, so the power company talked their retiree association into making a capacitor bank donation. The capacitors would equal and cancel out the inductive load so that voltage and current waveforms on the incoming power line would be in phase. Being in phase reduces energy lost in the power line. The capacitor bank was about the size of two refrigerators.
You've got a fan in me, keep 'em coming!

Asthenia is a medical term for a condition of physical weakness and lack of energy. It can be caused by various factors, including chronic diseases, malnutrition, mental health conditions, or especially not having that necklace…
Bigclive has a great video talking about those power savers, and why they are terrible things that do no good whatsoever
They work on motor loads.
Plug that thing in it blocks the other plug. If you can't use the plug you can't use energy, thus lowering the energy consumption. 🤣

Brimg the garage back 😊
I love how Tyler interpreted the word "balance"!
Tyler hurts his thumb, almost drives the drill through his hand, and then tries to use his knife to pry plastic.
Are you TRYING to go to the ER? Lmfao.
The power saver works by using a capacitor to change the phase between the voltage and current. This is real but it depends on whiter you have inductive loads or not. Most homes won’t see much of a savings. And you can not measure the change with your power consumption meter. I would recommend you study the effects of capacitance and inductance on AC power.
Came to say this. In large facilities, they are penalized by the utility for low power factor. They have large capacitors to correct power factor. From a technical standpoint, this product could help correct power factor from inductive loads. However, the big issue is that residential customers don’t get penalized for low power factor…. So it’s really not applicable to resi customers.
The black box he tried to destroy is a capacitor. He’s lucky electrolyte didn’t leak out and burn his skin.
How they get away with stuff like that is because they word their advertisements in a way that it’s not guaranteed to work. “This product COULD…” “This product MAY…” “Has shown to”. They never use the words will, guaranteed, proven, ext…

FYI, O.L. on meters mean OPEN LINE not OVERLOAD.🔧
It actually means out of limit. Which on a continuity or resistance setting means infinite resistance which is in fact an open line. But on a voltage or current setting it just means the reading is higher than whatever setting you’re on.

As you pointed out with the resistive electrical characteristics of a space heater, the resistance increases as it heats up so less current flows. The idea behind the little box is probably to reduce reactive power, which is stored in electric and magnetic fields by capacitance and inductance. A house with all its wiring and appliances is one big electrical circuit. The solid metal box inside is probably a capacitor. Reactive power may not be much of an issue in 2024. Pretty cool that your necklace uses duranium, since that's also used in building 23rd century starships.

I read the comments before I commented. I read one comment that was very close on the first power saving box. The way you tested it would never test what it actually is supposed to do. What it is supposed to do is make the power consumption meter that measures the power supplied to the house show less consumption.
The box does this by smoothing the sign wave Alternating Current (AC) to nearly a true sign wave. All power company input cables accept "noise" (inherent electrical surges in the nearby environment) onto the input line. When this noise modulated voltage is measured by your meter it still measures the positive "noise" spikes as power usage. The power saving box smooths these spike out and the regular voltage from the power company is not affected, but the meter is. All your devices still use the same power, it is just that the meter is reading only what is actually used and not the noise spikes.
The way to test this device is to stabilize the power usage and take a monthly usage report. Then plug in the power saver, and take a new report at the same time lapse and same stabilized power usage. If there is a change it could reasonably be assumed that the difference is generated by the power saver.
I purchased one of these boxes just to see what is inside and it is a commercial power filter using a large capacitor and a couple of coils (and a few resistors) to form a "Pi" filter. It is called a Pi filter because on a schematic it looks similar to the Greek character π.
In a household system it does make the meter move slower and will save enough in one month to pay for its self but not much more. Over a year about $200.00. If you are on a tight budget you probably do not have enough "extra change" laying around to by it. If you do you would probably not notice because of all the other things that affect you power consumption.
It is basically a faith product. If you believe in it and use, it it will work for you, just not enough to matter.
Bro, why does the hammer sound like a bongo? Lololol
