    Okay, so -5 bar is sufficient to vacuum seal a mason jar for food preservation. You have to understand that the mason jars are intended to be filled all the way up to just below the rim, so there's very little air to begin with remaining in the jar when you preserve food. The intended purpose of this vacuum sealer is to remove a very small volume of air, and you're doing tests with a relatively much higher volume in comparison to the intended use.

    So from what I know about canning and vacuum sealing food. That device isnt really meant for 'long term' or permanent storage like you would use for preserving food. Its made more for making your food last a little longer than normal. Its basically a 'vacuum sealer' but for Jars. As long as you know that before using it, its a pretty good product. Just dont expect what you put in it to last for years. Just Months.

    • @notreallydaedalus
      @notreallydaedalus 7 месяцев назад +3

      It helps in a couple ways. First, it seals the jar, keeping humidity and oxygen out. A little O2 in a jar won't do much, but a free exchange of air will provide enough O2 over time to let things go stale/rancid. Any sealed container does this, but a jar is very good at maintaining the seal over a long time. Reducing the amount of air inside is a small but real improvement over typical Tupperware.

    If I'm not mistaken it's the boiling process that makes the canning last so long as it kills off all the bacteria and the sealing process is to confirm it's sealed.

    • @vensakarakorwien5768
      @vensakarakorwien5768 6 месяцев назад

      both. Boiling will kill the bacteria that are there, but the seal will prevent any new bacteria entering. Technically that old boiling technique is also there to help with vacuum, as bottles are closed right after they are filled and then they should be slowly cooled down (to prevent glass shattering). So that cooling down of the liquid part will make the weak vacuum and finish off the proper sealing process (the covers will slightly bend inwards).

    The reason the vacuum sealer doesn't pull a full vacuum is pretty simple, and you'll see why if you put water in there.
    If you put water in a full vacuum, it will boil - until enough vapor has been created to bring the boiling point of water high enough again (i.e. it will increase the pressure).
    With mostly liquid in there, creating a full vacuum is impossible. The liquid will just keep evaporating to keep it at an equilibrium anyway.

    I have the little green machine, just a tip I don't use the cleaning solution in the water tank, I use the cleaner mixed in a seperate spray bottle, depending on the stain I'll use a stronger cleaner (folex). Also don't add too much cleaner it leaves a residue if you dont rinse properly, so rinse with plain water a few times until you get most of the water up. Make sure you rinse out the dirty water container and let everything airdry before putting it away.

    I am not sure about the pressure sealer. But most of the time you feel them as full as possible. That would leave very little air. So it is possible it would seal enough. Also doesn’t it come with the screw on part not just the suction lid?

    I have one of the weeder tools that is like 60-65 years old. The only difference I can see is that the lever is different than the one you bought. It would remove dandelions somewhat, but almost always broke the root off, so the dandelion would grow back. This was in clay soil. In sandy or loam soil it might work better, but I always thought it was a gimmick.

    Protip for any carpet cleaner/shampooer; after you're done using it, be sure to fill the clean water tank with just water, the run the nozzle for a bit to get all the shampoo out of the system. The shampoo they use can be kinda corrosive over time and will gunk up the lines inside the cleaner

    Carpet cleaning -> should try to set a baseline somehow -> maybe see if its any better than just spraying off the mats at a self service car wash and then vacuuming them dry. The car wash works very well when you hang the mats on the wall clips/hooks and power wash them, plus you don't have to deal with tanks of nasty water when you're done.

    The canning guy isn’t supposed to be a full vacuum. It’s like the food saver bags, where you pull the moisture out of the air and preserve food better. That’s why you can keep a jar of canned greenbeans and a vacuum sealed steak for years in the freezer rather than a few weeks in the fridge

  • @-tzadakim-7805
    @-tzadakim-7805 7 месяцев назад

    Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t the size of what you are vacuuming determine how much you are able to vacuum, hence why the smaller containers vacuumed less because there is less air in them?

    Might I remind you that certain holidays can influence Amazon’s top five sellers. To make it a fair test, you would need to monitor the top five sellers for a year, and then pick the most frequent top fives to test.
