  • @XtomJamesExtra
    @XtomJamesExtra 5 месяцев назад +78

    Okay, so -5 bar is sufficient to vacuum seal a mason jar for food preservation. You have to understand that the mason jars are intended to be filled all the way up to just below the rim, so there's very little air to begin with remaining in the jar when you preserve food. The intended purpose of this vacuum sealer is to remove a very small volume of air, and you're doing tests with a relatively much higher volume in comparison to the intended use.

    So from what I know about canning and vacuum sealing food. That device isnt really meant for 'long term' or permanent storage like you would use for preserving food. Its made more for making your food last a little longer than normal. Its basically a 'vacuum sealer' but for Jars. As long as you know that before using it, its a pretty good product. Just dont expect what you put in it to last for years. Just Months.

    • @notreallydaedalus
      @notreallydaedalus 5 месяцев назад +3

      It helps in a couple ways. First, it seals the jar, keeping humidity and oxygen out. A little O2 in a jar won't do much, but a free exchange of air will provide enough O2 over time to let things go stale/rancid. Any sealed container does this, but a jar is very good at maintaining the seal over a long time. Reducing the amount of air inside is a small but real improvement over typical Tupperware.

    If I'm not mistaken it's the boiling process that makes the canning last so long as it kills off all the bacteria and the sealing process is to confirm it's sealed.

    • @vensakarakorwien5768
      @vensakarakorwien5768 4 месяца назад

      both. Boiling will kill the bacteria that are there, but the seal will prevent any new bacteria entering. Technically that old boiling technique is also there to help with vacuum, as bottles are closed right after they are filled and then they should be slowly cooled down (to prevent glass shattering). So that cooling down of the liquid part will make the weak vacuum and finish off the proper sealing process (the covers will slightly bend inwards).

      You don't need a vacuum for preservation... the heat of the canning process does that. It also blows air out of the jar as it expands, leaving reduced pressure inside when it cools. This is only important as a confirmation that the jar is sealed from outside contamination.

Also don't add too much cleaner it leaves a residue if you dont rinse properly, so rinse with plain water a few times until you get most of the water up. Make sure you rinse out the dirty water container and let everything airdry before putting it away.

    As long as it's a vacuum that's all that matters. When you're canning food the only thing that matters is the air removed. -5 in/Hg is fine.

    Carpet cleaning -> should try to set a baseline somehow -> maybe see if its any better than just spraying off the mats at a self service car wash and then vacuuming them dry. The car wash works very well when you hang the mats on the wall clips/hooks and power wash them, plus you don't have to deal with tanks of nasty water when you're done.

    As long as the Jar is sealed, and it was, your food is very safe! The food in a jar that is canned regularly also doesn't change. Of course I'm not sure anyone would seal marshmallows in a jar.

    I worked at an auto detail place. If you want Clean new like floor mats, use any kind of degreaser, spray it down, and pressure wash it. We used mean green or something like that and a pressure washer then hung it up and dry it with air compressor. You'd be amazed what will come out.

    To preserve food, heat (used to kill bacteria[pasturize]) and then when cooling the steam volume condenses creating a vacuum to seal the jars...me and the wife can like crazy [we even can milk and condensed tea!]...this is good for "dry good" canning, still need the heat to can other non-acidic type foods

    Tyler, any negative vacuum IS a full vacuum 😂 it pulls the perfect amount to preserve food and also it pulls that amount so if you do store something like marshmallows they won’t shrink down. Btw my grandpas an engineer and he taught about all this. Thanks Tyler!

    • @noneyabizz8337

    • @stabbinfatties9489
      @stabbinfatties9489 5 месяцев назад

      Negative, a full vacuum means no air left in the chamber, negative 5 psi is no where near that, it's just a partial vacuum.

    Lemme ask you this about canning. When was the last time you had to use a can opener to get that lid off? When you open any jar from the store, when we're you worried about the jar imploding? That seems to be plenty adequate.

  • @derekwilliams3556
    @derekwilliams3556 15 дней назад

    Also... The vacuum isn't as much about taking out all the air as it is about not letting any new air in. The vacuum is more so to make a seal then it is to take out ALL the air. At least when using mason jars anyways. Also.. with a single marshmallow, that's alot of air to pull out. They are generally full when you seal them, as most people aren't trying to preserve a single marshmallow. Lol!

    Don't those pressure gauges work off of differential pressure..... (dp)? I don't think you can get an accurate reading like that....please correct me if I'm wrong engineers!

    • @-Jethro-
      @-Jethro- 5 месяцев назад +5

      I expected to see no reading at all, since both sides would be at the same pressure. Apparently that’s not how these gauges work after all. It must be sealed and reads relative to about 15 psi.

    For the marshmallow thing you need to fill half the jar. You will notice the difference. IIf you're canning, the items put in the jar are warm/hot. Pulling a small vacuum with the canning sealer, it will increase the vacuum as the item cools.

  • @eldie3d

    Look how thick the lid is for the steel pot vacuum chamber...
    Are you trying to get the same vacuum pressure in a glass Mason jar and a drinking glass???
    Maybe... if the product had more vacuum to it and the glass exploded, you could win a Darwin Award!!!
    🤣🤣🤣

    Protip for any carpet cleaner/shampooer; after you're done using it, be sure to fill the clean water tank with just water, the run the nozzle for a bit to get all the shampoo out of the system. The shampoo they use can be kinda corrosive over time and will gunk up the lines inside the cleaner

  • @catamacko1313

    The electric vacuum sealer worked only you needed to let it work for 5-10 minutes in order to properly make the marshmallow inflate or get big.
    You can see the marshmallow deflates when you removed the lid.

    I think it's great that Tyler refuses to read the manual, that way when he tests the product we all can see how accessible the product is for the target group that's being sold to. It really shows how accessible is the product and how well was it engineered.

    I have the bissel spotclean pro petedition works really well on chairs and stuff for pets. No way near as powerful as my professional commercial grade extractors at all but for home user they work great. Only complaint is after sitting the pump motor WILL rust and the impeller jams. No more water flows.
