  • In this video I do a restore on a Hot Wheels Auburn 852 and race it against the fastest cars I have on a 8 ft drag strip. This Restore & Race series is a 10 episode season. S01E07
You Can Do It! Why not take up the hobby of restoration. It's inexpensive, fun and rewarding. Below are some tool and supplies that I use to make old things new again. Enjoy, and share your projects and stories with me.
    Cheers, Tom

Nice job on the Auburn! Hotwheels made an all green version, but yours with the white fenders looks sharp!! Not a big fan of "off colored" tires, but with the paint they actually look neat. I have several of these with no windshield, great job making a new one, and I'll try the same. Rollbar was a good idea, and really makes it look like it is ready to race!!

I was given this car in the third grade. At a school Christmas party. The teacher gave the girls a Barbi doll and the boys got a hot wheels car.

Restore: Return to original condition or appearance.
Customize: Build choice based on available parts or per your personal choices creating something unique.
    There is a difference!

Solid point! There's also resto-mod, a combination of both. 😉

@@diecast164andmore9 Ah, yes...But a Resto-Mod would be primarily for "Performance" reasons [ adding "Mod Cons" as the Brits would say for "Modern Convenieces", things like better suspensions or A/C or even seat belts for safety! ] Rarely, if ever, does a diecast artist consider that in the process. We do it according to taste or Aestetic reasons (It looks cooler- Paul Yodelis and "Deep dish" HW's) or it looks more realistic. Its a valid discussion though! Thanks for even reading my comment from 2yrs agao let alone responding and engaging. Most importantly, Have fun with your toys!

@davidparker8221 I agree my friend! You're welcome for the comment, and thank you as well. Have a great day! It also appears that the channel is no longer active, that's unfortunate because did some nice work.
