The EAGLE MOUNTAIN RR. it's gone forever (april 2023)

  • Here I upload the video before and after the EMRR I had to edit it again, I also took advantage of adding more content to the video ,
    Starting the tour in Ferrum CA. exchange with the UP. Yuma division and the banks of the salton sea to the aqueduct and the old channel of coachela today without water.
    The last 10 miles of the 51 that the Kaiser Steel Private Iron Ore Transportation Railroad, better known as the Eagle Mountain Railroad, had in its entirety, were removed. Built in 1947-1948 and used until March 1986, date that also closed the foundry located in Fontana CA where it is now the California Speedway racing in Fontana CA. In April 2017 a railway materials company began to remove the track working from Eagle Mountain to Ferrum. By 2023 the removal will be complete. that day arrived!!! and the Eagle Mountain RR is already a legend!! . I was able to go through it and film it countless times, not its 51 miles that I had but about 25 miles in my Railcart (LittleFox). since passing the salt creek bridge, there were many missing tracks due to the lack of maintenance in their drainages. but those routes were completed in my subaru outback in a word, i know it from end to end. I made this video in April 2023 where there is nothing left and mixing some footage with the railcart. There is also a lot of information about this railway and its city or turned into a ghost town (Eagle Mountain ghosh town) on the internet, I recommend it, it is very interesting! until the next adventure!

    You have recorded history for future generations and for the living to see. What you did here is far more important than many things. You are part of an elite group that have traveled these rails that men sweat and possibly died making this railway. Now it is but a memory like so many things, and it is a good memory, thank you.

    Sadly, that railroad, just like all the secondary mains and branches we had of the old Santa Fe here in the central valley, finally came to an end. History forever gone.

      This is a real shame. One day the authorities will regret it. Here in England there were huge closures in the 1960s. One third of the network closed and track ripped up. Now we're trying to reopen some of these lines at huge cost!

    • @kenster865
      @kenster865 7 месяцев назад +5

      I'm interested in railroad history. I've been looking at those old Santa Fe and SP lines recently. You can find them using Google Maps. Many of the old rights-of-way still exist so they could be rebuilt should the need arise. I would imagine that they passed to the San Joaquin Valley Railroad based in Exeter when the Southern Pacific and Santa Fe sold those lines off.

    • @wondabiz
      @wondabiz 6 месяцев назад

      @@kenster865 there's a couple shortlines that took over the sold off routes. The CFNR (California Northern Railroad) took over a good portion of the West Side Line (the first SP Norcal-Socal line through the Central Valley before the Fresno sub) and the SJVR took over the Southern half but before that happened SP split the line between the two railroads. The CFNR operates that portion from Tracy to Los Banos. The SJVR operates on mostly old SP branchlines (100's of miles of it) from and around Fresno and Bakersfield. Almost all of the other branchlines are wiped clean (except for ROWs and some remnants) like the Oakdale Branch (SP), Visalia Line (ATSF), Porterville District/Branch (ATSF), and the Strathmore Line (SP). Essentially, at different points from the late 60's and beyond, the two railroads abandoned or sold off all of their branches and routes that East and West of their mainlines (the mainlines being the Fresno Sub (SP), Stockton Sub (ATSF) and Mojave Subs (Both) due to many reasons from the line being a less used route to the industry on those lines dying off. From there, these shortlines abandoned portions of those routes and now many of the ROWs/roadbeds are most likely going to be turned into trails, as many have already. The Sierra railroad operates a tiny portion of the old SP Oakdale branch (partially because they used to interchange there before it was abandoned).

      There is no one left in the UK public sector with vision, they are just managing decline, wasting public money on bureaucracy.
      Closing a railroad is sad, building on the trackbed is a crime against the hard work of past generations and to the detriment of future generations WHO WILL NEED LEVEL GROUND TO CONNECT PLACES whatever the form of ground transportation in the future. Shortsightedness of 2 generations. @@ds1868

    It's such a shame the rails were removed, but they are the property of the RR company and scrap steel prices have gone through the roof! So they sell it and help their bottom line! RR tracks are a huge capital investment to carry heavy industrial freight engines. Too bad they had to go! I'm so glad we have these videos to see how cool it was to glide across the desert on rails! Thank you very much for these fun videos!

    Abandoned railroads should never be torn out. I had one near my house 30 years ago that they were going to use for tourism and possibly a route to a theme park from a major San Joaquin Valley city all the way up to a nice foothill town at a length of about 40 miles. There were many talks of what it could be used for, but none of it materialized. Such a shame. There's always good use for old abandoned railroad routes. Hindsight is terrible.
