The thing about Eggman getting outsmarted by an 8-year-old fox should be expected, not just because of the normal plot of these games, but because if I remember right, Eggman and Tails actually have the same IQ of 300. That's impressive.
I'm sure Eggman could've reprogrammed the machine too; Tails realistically has no idea of knowing if he was capable of doing it or not.

My personal theory is that when Tails reprogrammed the machine, he literally changed everything to be removable, but I'm pretty sure that nobody at SEGA ever gave a canon explanation for it.

That's before Sonic gets knocked out, he's got no excuse for that one! Hell, when he saw Sonic explode in space in Adventure 2 because he made a slip up about the fake Emerald, he didn't just stand there and mope about it, he blasted the living crap out of Eggman right then and there! They just took his whole character development throughout the series and threw it out of the window!

Never realized this till now but 5:15 up until Lost World, ‘06 was the last time Eggman teamed up with Sonic and friends without screwing them over in a way. (Although that technically doesn’t count since the timeline was erased so I guess the last time was technically Shadow the Hedgehog)

It says in sonic runners that some wisps liked earth and decided to stay. Lost hex is right above earth and you play in lost hex stages in sonic runners. Still , they shouldn't have waited one and a half years to explain that.

Man I swear the way they use Knuckles in this game pisses me off.He claims he can collect more animal capsules faster than Sonic. Would have been great to see that or play as Knuckles to settle their friendly competition and have different outcomes to their
respective story.
Maybe a level where you can try and get the most containers in a 3D space or a minigame where you can play with a friend and find the most containers in several maps some 2D some 3D
or do what forces/adventure did and have some levels as knux, some as sonic and do it that way

To me, Lost World's weakest point wasn't so much the story or the fact that the Zeti didn't have much of a backstory, but I admit their best dialogue is their in-level dialogue, kind of like Eggman's PA announcements in Colors. But to me, Lost World had a lot of not-so-subtle aspects to Super Mario, primarily Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2. Think about it, the entire gravity and level design is pretty much based on Mario Galaxy. The boss fights seemed similar to the Bowser fights from other Mario games, including Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, even the Bowser-esque battle with Zavok seemed like it was ripped from New Super Mario Bros. 2. Even the hub world layout isn't subtle. (Grassland, Desert, Water, Ice, Jungle, Cloud, Lava. In that order).

I know your reply was a year ago, but stating my thoughts on it.
2. Assuming that the machine was reprogrammed at the base level that it was created for, then yeah, it's possible. It's going to take a buttload of time to do so, ignoring how fast Tails did it, sure, but it can still be possible.
3. Sonic and Tails have been running together for close to maybe 7-10 years by the chronology in the games. Tails is more a brother to Sonic than anything, and the fact that Sonic is trusting someone admittedly more well versed at their own machine than Tails, while petty, is a good reason to get pissed at Sonic.

First of all, the machine Eggman built was supposed to extract resources from the world. The exact same framework was used to give those resources back to the world, as lazy as the Sonic Team showed it. What I'm saying is that despite said framework, it can be possible to do the reverse of what that machine was supposed to do, with a little bit of elbow grease and hammerspace, something that the characters in this game were lacking severely in some places. I don't know if it was your intention, but the example you provided dodged the implication of what I said. A computer can't be a toaster, sure, but the extractor can be a dispenser, as long as the machine doesn't change, if not majorly.
Secondly, just saying Sonic is a dumbass is a understatement in most places, though his overconfidence does lead to him making poor decisions. And I can agree that Tails is annoying sometimes, but aside from his IQ for his age, he's still just a kid. Tails can't just control his emotions to a level that a normal teenager can, especially as a 8-11 year old. Also, I think you missed the point again. Sonic and Tails have been together for most of their lives, as I already said, so when Sonic inevitably goes back on Tails, it appears to him that Sonic doesn't believe in him, hence the argument that ensues between him and Sonic, as petty as it can be interpreted. I didn't even bring Eggman up in this regard, only that Sonic is putting him in charge of his own machine.
I'm not excessively trying to change your mind, in fact, I do agree with the fact more understanding should have been required before things broke out the way it did. I was just explaining what I had in my own mind. Do with the information what you will, I was just satisfying my enjoyment of game lore.

Tails for the most part in this game is just the boring sidekick who isn't that cool or interesting but that argument with sonic was really stupid, like seriously sonic didn't even insinuate that tails can't do it. Pretty sure it's a good idea to have the guy who build the machine to work with the super genius kid so this get done faster, this is what they think make for a interesting character. Plus this is a good way to keep a eye on him.

You forgot a sin. The final boss in this game is a lot like the final boss from Colors.
At 1:13 Sonic wasn't trying to catch it, he was going to press the button to release the animals witin it. I sin that to the Sinners.
Then the animals without wings would die anyway. *Ding
but its falling downwards. Sonic would have to be as heavy as a tank to push that button.
Not a popular opinion I know... but once I got used to the controls this became one of my favourites in the franchise.
I love the bizarre abstract level designs and I just found the parkour and attack systems to be really fun.

To clear things up for what happened to Eggman's mustash, in the 3DS version (I don't know if it shows it in the Wii U version) a little rabbit eats it for some reason because he got buried when he fell from the Lost Hex.
In that case, you must give it three sins, 1) because he survived the fall from the Lost Hex, 2) he somehow fell to Mobius from the Lost Hex and three the bunny didn't know it was a mustash.
