• Also, if you are having issues with doing 3 platforms due to iron golems hit boxes being to big on whatever version you are on, 2 platforms will work at about the same rates.
Going to test in the morning to see the difference but I dont see it being that much of a difference in rates
[copy pasted as requested] If you make the walls out of stairs then add platforms of lower slabs at the inside spawning platform levels on the outside of those stairs, it will enhance the pack spawning of the witches and increase the rates without adding any redstone either.
@@taeurus Could you explain why you need to use stairs? Is it just to line up the slabs?
Yeah it just doesn't work
i love your tutorials because you build them in survival, so you're never building them in a weird order that's only possible with flight. thanks dude!
Do you remember the farm you did for charcoal years ago? I still use that farm to this day. Great stuff man...
Great video man! 👍🏻👍🏻 Two thumbs way way up on the educational value! Thanks Chapman
To avoid building 150+ ladders(and save a lot of risk when climbing), you could also just dump a bucket of water out at the top of the waiting platform to use as an elevator. I’d also recommend placing a bed up on the high platform for extensive AFK farming. The LAST thing you want after days of waiting is Phantoms spawning above you at that high height.
I'm a big fan of water elevators, so I already do that everywhere, but by standing under a block one prevents phantoms from spawning. It's still a good idea to sleep to reset the "days since last sleep" counter, because once you leave that AFK place, one might meet a lot of phantoms next time night time rolls over. One could of course build a "phantom farm", they aren't hard to build tbh, but after the first stack of phantom membranes it becomes less of a priority. I much prefer to spice up my AFK spot with a 5x2x5 fishing pool.
Honestly solid, simple, and very easy to understand. I always find it so bothersome that a lot of other tutorials utilize bamboo scaffolding assuming players are lucky enough to even find bamboo somewhere. 7:19 an alternative for bedrock players that's a bit cheaper is to use a sign and lava (if they got a nearby lava source to use) or a piece of dripstone and a Trap door to both prevent escape and allowing the drops to be collected. Since a campfire while good emits too much light and would require you dig a little deeper as to prevent its light from affecting the witch spawns.
But lava produces light right? It will brake spawning. Either place it many blocks lower or use soul campfire
@@bankaihampter2802 It won't break spawning if you did what I mentioned in the post, just dig deeper. But even then you could just create another water source below that funnels them into the kill chamber that's roughly 6 blocks away from the source and it won't affect the farm. All you need is a single hole dug out from an opposing side, a path roughly 3-5 blocks away, a sign, and the lava or campfire at the bottom with a hopper beneath.
Witches have fire resist
@@TheAmericanBois You are correct. The alternate strategy then would be to use a pointed Dripstone that is on top of a hopper and have it drop a good enough distance to instantly die.
im loving your videos as someone that played minecraft since beta this has really got me coming back and playing again.
For bedrock edition afk spot should be at at y=122. Skip the minecarts and dig 32 blocks down before placing the hopper into the collection chest. This will require some extra spawn proofing of the surface and surface caves due to the lower afk spot.
Hey thanks for the suggestion. Could you tell me if it is okay if we use a Lava bucket with Sign Boards and then place a hopper Minecart leading into the actual hopper. I’m trying to see if that works.
@@faizanali349 lava won't work because they can drink fire rez potions
The 32 block drop will kill them from fall damage.
Can I just use a trident unaliver at the same level ?
@@taterbullock4030 yes. You could build the trident chamber higher up actually. No need for the drop
This tutorial feels like a lets play lol Ill get Mr editor to tighten up the next batch of tutorials. You don't need to watch me remove every... single... block.... :P
I enjoyed it!

Then it will be always at the top and at the ready for whoever wants to do more for their farm. You will get your likes and better appreciation for such a solid recommendation
Please do not edit out anything on the next building tutorial
I really dislike when people do that
I want to see everything including removing any surrounding blocks and don't speed up the video at all.
That really gets annoying
@@Chapman_Farmsthanks for looking out for the viewers on that
I could have sworn that they updated mob spawn rates to light level 0 to eliminate torch spam.
It’s because of slimes they still spawn up to light level 7
My Man!!! Back at it again...Loving this new series...keep up the great work man!!! ~C0l5and3rs
another good one chapman keep em comin thanks
Great, simple, tutorial.
One thing I've noticed however is that other mobs tend to spawn too. I had a creeper spawning inside and blowing half of a platform up.
You built your platforms 1 block to high or low outside the bounding box!
My hut was on a hill, so most likely something went wrong there whilst I was building it.
The bottom platform only spawned other types of mobs, such as creepers and skeletons.
I've disabled it with some buttons for now, and the 2 remaining platforms spawn witches.
@@Chapman_Farms not necessarily...........witch huts can be at different levels and when following tutorial exactly as you show, platforms may not end up being same as like in your tutorial so chest at hoppers for example may not end up at Y61 so therefore the 1st platform above may spawn any mob.
@@junebucket7440 The bounding box of the witch hut it the same for every hut.
It starts 1 block below the porch/floor and extends to 1 block above the hut roof.
So even if a witch hut if on a hill or in a cave and 1 leg extends down. doesnt matter, because the bounding box only includes 1 leg, the porch/floor, the walls, roof and a single air block above the roof
A quick google search can confirm this, Hence why every other witch farm only has 3 layers
@@Chapman_Farms I guess what I should have said was alot of Witch Huts spawn in water so there is no land to go by like in the video. And let me say I LOVE your videos.
All Mobs are spawning on the bottom platform when following tutorial. Or I should say with no land to go by, the bottom platform should start at water level and go up? Anyways thank you for your farms Chapman :)
Works great except for the fact that normal mobs also spawn in the farm. My farm I just built went into unconditional retirement because of a creeper that spawned and blew a hole in the side.
can't place the trapdoor over the golems. I did exactly what the tutorials instructed, 3 blocks high and a 5x5 slab ring on top, but still can't place the trapdoors to cover the gap above the golems
This video will pop off for 1.21 with Mojang increasing the redstone that witches drop.
Nice farm budy !!
Youve got me tempted. Unfortunately the nearest witch hut from me is about 2500 blocks :/ probably isnt the most feasible for the return having to travel that far to afk.
But hey, thanks for the video still Chap! Always on point, clear, and simple. If i do get around to a witch farm, you bet itll be one of your designs! I literally type your name whenever i need a farm and use you over anyone else!
Much love buddy!
Why not try connecting portals?
@koko2274 I started playing Mc like 2 months ago, I'm still super duper new. I don't know the first thing about portals. I prolly should try to get it though, that might make it more realistic
@@Weirix1 block traveled in Nether is 8 blocks in the overworld. So You can make a highway from one portal to another, in nether. You can use minecarts, tunel for flying with elytra, or boat on blue ice for fast transportation
@@WeirixPro tip, You can do this all on the Nether roof, on the bedrock. You would either have to pearl glitch trough bedrock or destroy bedrock. There are videos about it
@@bankaihampter2802 i actually just saw this after i made my second nether portal and a little tunnel connecting the 2 haha. i dont have anything fancy cause i was nervous building over a huge lava lake but i did make a straight running path between the 2. no now im at least able to get a good 10 minutes closer to the witch hut which is nice haha. i might have to look into the minecart idea once i am more comfy with it!
just a small critique but where the hole is for the kill chamber, make the sides out of stairs and they won't get hung up on the edge
Hi, Great vid. While the witches are spawning, the golems are not attacking them. I can see them aggro, but cant seem to attack them
@@MaddoxMehringer Did you remember to remove the upper bars of the golem fence? You only need the four upper bars he added to keep the golems in place until there is a roof above them.
@MaddoxMehringer Another person commented that they removed the corner slabs and switched out the nine middle slabs of their first level with trapdoors (matching the other two levels). I tried it, and it fixed my issues of the golems getting injured by the witches and one witch not being attacked at all by the golems.
This worked for a while, but after a few sessions I noticed that the iron golems had died on the topmost 2 platforms.
Hey, I'd like to appriciate all your effort in visuals and montage! It's very pleasant and relaxing to watch, keep it up!
Okay so I made this on 2b2t on a witch hut and the result is just regular mobs (no witches) spawning. :(
Amazing
It works but my iron golems keep getting hurt. Maybe it’s just poison and they won’t actually die but it’s annoying me.
Wait is ur skin N from Murder Drones?
Does it work for bedrock?
No
Can i build a landing platform for elytra on that platform 128blocks up?
I seem to be having an issue with Iron golems dying. Witches appear to be able to throw potions at the golems before they are knocked off which leads to them eventually dying. Any workaround for this?
Ditto, keep having to repair the Golems. Not sure if I did something wrong.
I found that removing the corners from the slab platforms and changing out the bottom platform for trapdoors like the rest of the three fixed this for me (so far)
@@ItsMe-yr6zg This fixed the issue for me. Thanks!
When we getting part 4
For some reason it just doesnt work in my world ;c
thanks this really helped me out. But the farm is 2k blocks away from base tho
250 through nether
make nether portals and link them. there are tutorials about linking portals. but yeah you can't build a nether portal without obsidian or lava sources and a diamond pickaxe to mine them. I built my first nether portal without diamond pickaxe by using water and lava sources, but doing it that way is not easy especially in the nether, ghasts may attack any time😅
Is there a max Y level this can go up to?
some witches dont get hit by the golems and subsequently kill them. is there a way to prevent this from happening?
I found that removing the corners from the slab platforms and changing out the bottom platform for trapdoors like the rest of the three fixed this for me (so far)
call me a noob, but never seen a witch house.. what edition is it in or biom?
They are a rare structure only found in swamps.
@@graehart me and negative luck will keep an eye out. thanks 👍👍
graehart is correct. They can only be found in swamps, Very unlikely to find one is a small swamp and wiki says they DO NOT generate in mangrove swamps
@@Chapman_Farms I'll keep looking, never seen that before. thanks for the info 👍
@X23ReZ23X you can also use tools like chunkbase to locate them easier if you need a steady supply of redstone and gunpowder.
I'm not sure if this would work on bedrock. The golem part probably works but spawning mechanics are different so you would need a different afk spot and I don't think entity cramming works either. You could probably make a chamber with a water source above a campfire so they drown or burn depending on which potion they drink first. Or just dig a pit about 40 blocks deep.
the iron golems do not hit the witches, i did everything inside the farm exactly like you did, the witches just spawn and then they stand there until they despawn. Is there another way to get them to fall down?
Something must be blocking their line of sight to the witches. Ensure the iron bars are only 1 layer. Then jump in with the golems and nudge them around and see what happens after that
@@Chapman_Farms i think i got it to Work now, the Iron Bars and everything Else was built correct, but for some reason the Golems were stuck inside each other or they were blocking the Line of sight idk. When i jumped inside the Iron bars and pushed them to the sides of their cages they actually started attacking the witches
had the same thing happening as well, bumping them about seems to have helped
Any way to reliably murder them without entity cramming or base jumping ?
Drop them down a shaft to their death. You wont be able to afk as high, and you will have to check for caves to light up with torches but thats about it..
I think its 27 block drop to their death and you will have to spread torches out further to light up the area
@@Chapman_Farms I'm pretty sure it's a 32 block requirement to kill witches.
Suffocation using pistons perhaps? Witches has potions for a lot of situations like drowning or fire damage. They're not immune to falling damage nor entity cramming. I've seen some mention wither roses as well.
How can u use bounding box in 1.20?
does this work in 1.19.2?
Nice video.... farm doesn't work. Won't let me place trap doors above golems.....
Does it work if chunk loader is placed instead of afking?
It would but it would be slow
Chapman you are an absolute legend i love this Farm and you will get a sub from me
do a wood farm for beginners
The one problem is bogged, they kill the iron golems
got the same issue here
One useful thing I’m missing in these tutorials as someone who’s played since alpha but it’s been a few years since i played vanilla:
Why do I want some of these farms? Why spawn witches? Why do I need moss and bonemeal? Why is important to me. Iron makes sense, food makes sense, but I’m unsure why I’d do some of these others 🤔
You mention red stone farm for this one but generally, some use cases for the materials being farmed would be awesome.
some farms are for building and decorating. moss looks really great with grass but breaks up the texture. bonemeal is used to grow stuff and therefore is needed to power automatic tree farms or you want the bonemeal in order to build with bone blocks. or you use the bonemeal on azalea trees in order to make infinite rooted dirt, regular dirt, mud, and clay.
i think in general most people who want farm tutorials already know why they want the farm, they just don't know how to make them.
Do it work on bedrock?
Comment just for things, that should happen in youtube automaticly when you post video like this :P
Awesome farm, too bad I never find witch huts :(
If your into it you can always choose to go to Chunkbase > Click apps > click on witch huts and then put your seed in the seed menu and it will find them for you!
Anyone else having issues with the iron golems dying?
Yup
let me ask, to chunkloaer then Y=?
afaik: Light level needs to be 0 for mobs to spawn.
Gotta box it all in and make sure no light bleeds through where the Minecarts/Hoppers are. If you put a torch in the chest area and leave the minecarts exposed... You will have +1 or more light level on 2 of the 3 platforms and no witches will spawn
Can't put trap doors down
crouch and put.
When you got this much iron, you will have some redstone.
Not if you built a day one iron farm...
So you got 6 stacks of iron in the early game...but no redstone??? What do you think would be harder, building an iron farm or going mining for an hour? And while you are mining you might as well just mine the you know..REDSTONE?!??
Iron farms are pretty easy to build
7:03 Can you use armor stands for this??? @Chapman_Farms
This does not work on Bedrock! The Iron Golems have a different hit box, which won't allow the trap doors to be placed above their heads. This sucks. It's a great build, but sucks for consoles
You can simply do two layers or 2 platforms, will work the same without to much effect on rates
Ahhhh, mobs don't spawn on half slabs.
7:19 useless for Bedrock, cuz they don't have this thing
Super lame
Literaly worst and slowest witch farm design ive seen so far! By placing the golems in the middle of spawning platforms you reduce already strictly limited spawning spaces. I can make a money bet its slowest witch farm design you can find in whole internet.
Third 😂i believe
I don't understand this farm. There's several things that don't make any sense. If the witches fall down the hole in the bottom how are they dying? Nothing's falling on the witches, the witches are doing the falling and they are only falling 2 blocks. I don't understand why other mobs don't spawn in there as well. And third why did you build the thing 100 blocks above it on top?
Minecraft has many rules, one them being the gamerule of "maxEntityCramming" which is set to 24 by default (some servers might have custom values, you can even set it yourself using eg. "/gamerule maxentitycramming 0" which disables it). This means that entities in a single block space can't exceed 24. So by putting 24 minecarts on a track then removing the rail underneath the minecarts becomes a source of damage to the witches as them dropping in exceeds that number.
Regarding the distance, why he made an AFK platform so far up in the sky, that's because there's a mob cap of 70 in Minecraft, and mobs spawn on solid surfaces, so if you're high in the sky where there's no ground for mobs to spawn on, that makes the possibility of mobs able to spawn so more controllable.
The rules for mob spawning are complex, but the ground rules are: low light level, range more than 24 from the player and less than 128. This is why calculates from the chest Y level by adding 128 to it and sitting there in the sky. It maximizes the chance of witches spawning in the 128 radius around the player meaning better drop rates.
As to why there's no other mobs spawning in that area I can't say for sure. I would at the very least have expected cats to spawn as well, but seeing as how this farm doesn't produce string one can assume that no cats (or spiders) spawn in that area.
@@RedSntDK He didn't remove the rail after adding the 24 minecarts. You can see the rail when he closes the hole with cobblestone.
