0:50 m8, St Augustine isn't just the most historic city in Florida, it's the oldest permanent European settlement in the US, and one of the oldest in the entire New World. It was founded by the Spanish in 1565. For a long time, it was the largest city in Florida. It held out in siege against the British twice because they wanted to go south from the thirteen colonies and control the entire East Coast. It was given to the Britain after the Treaty Of Paris (Seven Years War), and all the Spanish St Augustinians moved to Cuba, but after Spain took Florida back, St Augustine again became the hub of Florida. After Spain ceded Florida to the US, St Augustine was no longer the capital of Florida, but instead they built a capital halfway between St Augustine and Pensacola (the other capital of Florida) and called it Tallahassee.
I am a 1993 graduate of Flagler, and I think you did an amazing job!!! You brought me back to a time when I was so young and enjoying the college experience. You are answering questions that most kids need to know. I esp. remember walking from fec and it was a pain back then! LOL I look forward to more Flagler videos from you.
Thanks for promoting Flagler! I graduated in 2004 with a major in Elementary Education. I agree with you on so many points. Parking was my absolute BIGGEST gripe as well, and the parking garage was not constructed until after I graduated. It's interesting how the area has changed over time, because we did not have the Ringhaver Student Center. Also, Ben and Jerry's was also not on St. George yet. Our only discount I remember was for pizza, and we also could get into certain attractions like Potter's Wax Museum for free.
Girllll this video was so helpful you literally answered all my doubts and questions about the school. I actually got accepted into Flagler for spring of 2019!! Hopefully Ill see you one day!
I'm a first-year at Flagler right now. The biggest (and only thus far) con i've seen is tourists are freaking everywhere. A woman came up to me and my friend today and asked where those stained glass windows are. I told her they were in Ponce, but Ponce is closed to visitors (It's September 2020). She seemed genuinely confused and asked if they were pretty. I said "Yes,"
I graduated in 2004 and agree with you! That was my only con. I absolutely loved attending college in St. Augustine besides that one *sometimes extremely daunting* thing. When I had classes in the theater, it was especially annoying because I would sometimes be stopped on the way to class.
@@blueturtle3623 -- LOL-- I know what you're referring to, honestly, and it's hard to explain. I also saw you transferred-- I wish you the best for the remainder of your college years. Finding the right school is everything, and that's the discussion I am having with my best friend as she is starting college tours with her son.
I got in with a 4.2 (you do not need that high of GPA, a good 3.6 or 3.5 will do the trick) and without submitting test scores. I had to do the SSAR and write a personal essay/statement, I do not remember having a word limit. My essay was of 800 words.
I am a 36 year old Air Force vet using the GI bill to go to Flagler College. I love it, but I wish I knew it was all 18-19 year old kids fresh out of high school. The education is AMAZING. I love it, but wish I wasn't the only person over the age of 21.
@@_cosully sadly, I only got 8,000$ from FASFA and couldn’t even remotely begin to afford it :/ kinda been at a loss for a bit ngl. But thankfully I will be going to another college.
Honestly if your going for sports and want a small college to go to then defiantly this is the right school for you! Its fun and the teachers really do care about each student!
Hi! I just got accepted into Flagler and I was thinking about premed as an option and you could always major in psychology and minor in biology, just an idea tho!
CozyLemonade it honestly depends on what room you have. i’ve heard crazy stories but i remember my roommate and i thought we had one cause the closet next to my bed would open randomly. the ghost was nice.
Natalie Nicole I don’t necessarily care about the campus, just the education and prep for grad school! Do u feel like Flagler has a good education system?
Don G for me, i felt as if i wasn’t being pushed enough. I thought it was an extremely easy, which i liked but i knew i wasn’t really learning anything new.
You're welcome
Mans made an account just for this bit
Thanks Henry
id like to know how many vids about flagler u commented this one

@@renaissanceteacher4899 Also, apparently the locals hate us? Was that a thing when you went here? It's mostly political, but IDK.

@@renaissanceteacher4899 I didn't transfer, but I just had to ask myself if I did lol. Where did you see that?
What did it take to be able to get into Flagler? Like the grades or gpa or sat scores?
you have to have a 3.5 gpa and its test optional, I got in without submitting my scores

I have a 3.91 and a 27 ACT. Got in with their presidential merit! I think they definitely look more into your essay and involvement

its a liberal arts school, there most likeyly not be medical majors
Flagler Used to be an all girls school, that's why it's so off
Some of those cons were pros in my book
I heard they have a sorority now but im not sure. I think it came in fall 2020 ?
