    Thanks for the video was at a loss before watching it, just finished my American Eagle, (3M product) the heads up on the scraper really helped, got them a harbor freight, I used a product called rapid remover (amazon) and was able to get my glue off with just 1 quart of product, one thing I did do was after 2nd application and scraping I put mineral spirits on a rag and cleaned of the residual chunks of glue, it also with mild rubbing removed the small are where glue was still stuck, made the job go much faster. Thanks again.

    Super helpful ! I have actual Diamond Shield on '05 RV, quite ugly. Ill try the Wayne fluids and give it a try.

      Takes quite a bit of patience. I focused on just one small area at a time rather than the whole picture. Be extra careful if you have any rock chips. The paint can peel easy around those areas.

    Ugly Juice is 100% general Xylene. I ran spectral analysis on it. This is a fact. I used the Ugly Juice on Diamond shield and needed another gallon but instead I put it in the spectral analysis machine and found it you be Xylene. Bought a gallon and finished up.

    I took it of my 2007 prevost featherlight I had the 3m also, big job for sure no easy way to do it. I did have more success with a plastic razor blade than the scraper but I used both. I will not be using it again to much work to get off. Mine did not mold but was starting to crack, the life of PPF or paint protection film is about 5 to 10 years at best.

      1995-2001 Ford Explorer. We changed ours out to LED also but replaced the entire light assembly. Some folks are crazy about buying a name and only use 818 headlight assemblies so they can have a name. There close to a $1k for a set. We bought ours off Amazon almost 4 years ago and they still look fantastic for under $230…..Thank you for watching. We appreciate it as we know your time is valuable.

    How can you tell which film you have on your Motorhome, 3m or diamond sheild?

    • @ALongLongWaytoGO
      @ALongLongWaytoGO  Год назад +1

      If using the Ugly Juice…after you spray the coating the Diamond Shield will start to break down and you can start scraping it off keeping it slightly moistened with the Ugly Juice. The 3M after spraying will not let go at all basically…..So you have to apply heat to it for the film to let loose of the surface. After that you can reapply some Ugly Juice and the glue will turn to snot.

    Wow, lotsa work there but man o man what a difference, looks great! Thank goodness our 2004 Allure doesn't have the film on it at least when we got it. OK, for your fog lights I bought some at the local Tractor Supply Store out here in Arizona. It appears to be their brand called TRAVELLER. The ones I got were 3 inch LED, can't remember the model number. They are small and have a halo light built into them as well as the beam, selected with the switch they come with. They fit right onto the bracket the original ones came off of. Very easy install. I reused the original wiring from the passenger side fog light to connect the supplied wire harness and just flipped the switch so the beam lights come on leaving the switch tie wrapped to the wire. They aren't real great but fit perfect. Also these were less than $50 so they aren't the long range off road light up the night lights. Hope this helps. I need to replace our headlights too, same style as yours. I do want to stay with the original opening, not wanting to do major body work. Can't wait to see what you are going with.

    The PPF adhesive is the real culprit, a real pain as it turns brown and is so gummy. Working one now near Willis but how many hours to remove it?

    • @ALongLongWaytoGO
      @ALongLongWaytoGO  Год назад +1

      For me it was tricky to gauge total hours. I was doing it in the evening after I got home from work…..by myself if I had to guess….I would at least a good full day or day 1/2…..the “professionals” can knock them out in 1 day. Sorry not to much help on this !!!

    • @ALongLongWaytoGO
      @ALongLongWaytoGO  Год назад +2

      @@MyGuyKirby yes it did. Takes a couple turns at it. One to help get the film off and then respray to help remove the adhesive. I kind of would spray ahead so to speak…that way it would start breaking the film down before I came across with plastic scraper. And then when I would get to the previously sprayed spot…I would spray again lightly as I moved across with tool.

    How do you know if it's a 3M product or the diamond shield?

    • @ALongLongWaytoGO
      @ALongLongWaytoGO  10 месяцев назад +1

      Good question….. which I do not have a scientific factual answer to…. what I found was, I purchased the actual removal product for this crap called ugly juice. If you spray the ugly juice onto the film, and it starts dissolving and removing with no heat applied, it is more than likely diamond shield. If you spray the product on the film, and it starts to soften, but you still need to apply some heat to scrape it off then it is more than likely the 3M product. now there are some know it alls out there that claim that the ugly juice is nothing more than xylene. I cannot, and will not ever confirm that that is true. I felt much safer purchasing an actual product that has been tested and proven to have results, and it works great and it was called ugly juice.
