I just stumbled across this video again. I am 5 months in my Loc Journey. I had 5 particular locs that was taking a long time to look loced. I tried this and it worked. Thank you. :) No More Slinky looking locs.
WOW, thanks for sharing this helpful tutorial. I actually got frustrated with my loose lics and did a couple out of curiosity and then seeing your tutorial made me have some real hope for my loose locs!😀
The results were very nice. I've been thinking about doing this or something similar with my starter locs. I started with two strand twists and I'm ready for the twist pattern to be gone. I'm only in my second month, but I'm over this stringy look, for real. Thanks for the video.
It definitely looks better I love it & I just might try this with my hubs starter locs his hair is so soft & I started his like 6months ago & they still haven't loc'd lol....he's ready to be somewhat loc'd so I think this could be a great option tfs!!
my daughter is one mth baby locs. she has really wild hair so I shall surely attempt this. I wasn't sure if I was able to do it but I am totally going to do it.. thanks for the push
Wow what a big difference your locs look great but usually im not a fan of people skipping stages thru the journey but you was already in the journey so i can jus your on yo way be strong
im still in the baby stage but am going to still put beads in and decorate them as i am proud of how their comming out, even thou they go throw their days of crazyness
You have a new subby asap lol. I was trying to find someone that would show a suffice tutorial on this. Thank you so much girl. Your hair was so cute after. I liked it b4 you locked ur hair too but really liked it after.
I love this video.. I did my starter Locs on blown out hair from going to the Dominicans for quite a while, so I may have to try this method to help speed up the process bc my starter Locs are very very straight and keep unraveling 😥
Lmao I envy your dreads, even though they're just starters. My dreads aren't even an inch yet, I'm sure by the time I reach a year my locks will be as long as yours are now. Ya'll wish me luck, I'm gonna need it considering I'm so impatient XD.
Lol i like you I intend to try that same method this weekend but i am not going to twist first i want a more freeform look i have 3C hair best of luck on your Loc journey
I just got my twist in, comb coiled and I've had them for about two weeks now. will this work for me? they have locked at all and is there a specific product I need during this other than the crochet?
girl im gonna do this i paid 60 dollars its going on almost 4 months and my hair never locked up i used the comb coil method but i want real looking dreads i dont have patience plus for her to just wash and retwist them she want $63
The best thing is learning to do your hair yourself. $63 isn't bad for a wash and twist. That's charged about that much where I am just for retwisting with no wash. Remember it's still labor and time done to do anyone's hair. I'm not about paying lots of money to get my hair nor my daughter's done, that's why I do my own but I also do others hair. You'll save plenty of money learning to do your own hair though.
Girl that's a ot of money, i spent a fortune on different methods including the crotchet method and none worked, so I am educating myself with these RUclips vids and trying to do it on my own
Nadia Alexis right!! I was gonna go to Damien Walter but if I can do it myself I will! I started my bf locs a year ago and they're so bomb! I was just afraid of comb coiling my own hair
They don't get hard immediately but I noticed that mines loc'd up faster than before. It's been 3 months since I did the crotchet method and my locs are about 80% loc'd. Most of them are completely hard and loc'd while some still have soft spots.
Sade Douay Thanks For The Feedback Very Fast😊, Buhh Im Thinking About Doing This 2 My Locs Because Im Finna Be 4 Months Loc And My Locs In The Back Are Locking Up Perfectly Buhh The One's In The Front Are Not, When Uu Did The Crocheting Method, Did Some Of Your Locs Unravel Or They Stayed In Their Shape.
do you think i can do this to my two strand twist its how i started my starter locs of iam not impatient but i really dont feel like going through the ugly stage
I was wondering the same thing..... I am starting with 2 strand twists and it's been 4 weeks for me, but my hair is definitely locing... And u can get one at a hobby or craft store and MAYBE the dollar store depending. Wal-Mart DEFINITELY!!!...... Hopefully u have found one by now this comment is 3 months old....lol..
Hi hun! This just creates the "look" of locs. They still have to mature with time which means they will still shrink as they become more intertwined. But this is a one time process.
Jasmina Covington It will, because this is the method white ppl use to start their hair. And I practiced on a straight hair wig before I did it on my hair.
They look good to me with the hook she used. That was probably a 1 time thing. Her hair will grow and if she feels it's necessary to cut anything damaged it won't be your problem to have to worry about.
trying to prevent people from damaging there dreads so they don't have to cut off weak dreads and you would get better results if you used a smaller hook
I’m so mad, I’ve been trying to attempt this on my hair with three different crotchet needles for two weeks and it’s not doing anything . Just goes right in and out like water without any result. I have starter Locs and are just about the same length as yours. WHY!?!? I need help :(
not to discourage you or discredit you at all but this is not healthy for your locks longterm. my first 6 month's were so rough. my dreads had changed so much but its worth it to let them lock on their own. you're dreads are going to change so much until they grow out. you're beautiful! good luck on your journey
+Herbert Perkins Well this only helps to get ur locs to look more like locs. It doesn't instantly make them harder. That comes with time bc they still have to mature. I know it seems like it's taking forever but they will mature. Happy locing!
This rips your hair within the loc which is why it "works" years down the line you will have an issue with loc thinning in the same area you were jamming the hook in back and forth. Locs tell a story and when they mature fully years later you will see the difference in thickness and where all that hair got ripped at.
Shanice Harris yes locs definitely tell a story. So far, the only dips in the consistency of my locs I see is from the 2 times I tried interlocking. Other than that I see no damage where the crotcheting was done. Are u speaking from experience?
You nailed it.
Kris McDred Oh wow! Thanks! That means a lot coming from you!
I know! Everybody can't make it to Dubai! Lol. Thanks Kris for putting it out there for us.
I just stumbled across this video again.
I am 5 months in my Loc Journey.

I tried this and it worked.
Thank you. :)
No More Slinky looking locs.
'm so glad this method worked for you!
This is perhaps the best video out there in this because we can see exactly how shiny they were before and what they look like now!
I LOVE the way they look! So much fuller and more "loc'ed"
+Robin F Thanks love! I am very pleased with the results!
WOW, thanks for sharing this helpful tutorial. I actually got frustrated with my loose lics and did a couple out of curiosity and then seeing your tutorial made me have some real hope for my loose locs!😀
Gorgeous! I will be performing this service tomorrow on a client and definitely used your video as a reference for my client to see. Amazing!
The results were very nice. I've been thinking about doing this or something similar with my starter locs. I started with two strand twists and I'm ready for the twist pattern to be gone. I'm only in my second month, but I'm over this stringy look, for real. Thanks for the video.
Thanks and let me know how they turn out if you try it!
I would be paranoid of doing this on my own hair lol. Ya'll some bold LocHeads tho!

+Monica J Valdez No problem! I wish u the best on ur journey!
Thanks.I'm on my second set of locs.
I've been using this method for my clients who are hard to lock and want what you want, to lock fast. Enjoy your journey, I'm on month 7
+Angela Winters I wish my loctician would've introduced me sooner. Thanks! And same to you!
Love it Sade you did and excellent job it looks so professional!!!! You did a FANTASTIC JOB thanks for sharing!!!
It definitely looks better I love it & I just might try this with my hubs starter locs his hair is so soft & I started his like 6months ago & they still haven't loc'd lol....he's ready to be somewhat loc'd so I think this could be a great option tfs!!
+Gorgeous_ Re Hi hun! Thanks! This is ideal for someone with a softer hair texture. Give it a try :)
my daughter is one mth baby locs. she has really wild hair so I shall surely attempt this. I wasn't sure if I was able to do it but I am totally going to do it.. thanks for the push

+Tatyana Dow I wish I would've started my locs using this method. It's going to turn out great! Good Luck!
+Sade Douay Thank you!
You have a new subby asap lol. I was trying to find someone that would show a suffice tutorial on this. Thank you so much girl. Your hair was so cute after. I liked it b4 you locked ur hair too but really liked it after.

great job -- we're in the same phase -- happy locing!
I love this video.. I did my starter Locs on blown out hair from going to the Dominicans for quite a while, so I may have to try this method to help speed up the process bc my starter Locs are very very straight and keep unraveling 😥
naturally Locd Awe thanks for the love! Good luck! I hope it works for u!

+DreadHead WEBB Happy locing babe! Wishing u the best! It's hard to be patient lol. I completely understand
Interlocking is a good option too. They look pretty good though

Great Job! Great vid! Keep loving your journey!
Thanks for the love 😘😘😘!!!
That awkward stage happen to me 2 and I go for crotchet it really works
Amazing, you've done a great job!! You got skills 👏👏
So you put it in the middle of the loc and push in and out while twisting??? Won’t that cause the hook to get tangled????
Logic is dope 🎶
+Chelsie Jones Love him!!!
Someone Special hi
You did an awesome job.
Thanks babe!!
I absolutely love it! great job...beautiful
Naturalbeautybee thanks babe!!!

jnefitema yep thanks for the info

Thanks love
she look bad asf with. them 🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍
+Keke Austin Thanks love!!! XOXOXO!!!!
I want to go this route
carlisa edwards give it a shot. I hope it works out!
so I watched your video and attempted mine. I definitely see the difference but wondering should i wet them afterwards to get rid of stiffness?
U can maintain them the same way u did prior to this method. After I did mines I think I washed them 2 weeks later and they held up good.
mines are just like that but I wait a week and my hair grows like crazy
Harlem sista soul Nice! Happy locing!!!
just started been with starter loc for 3 week thinkin about this how is this process
Sade Douay After You Crotchet The Locs, Do They Become Hard Like Real Locs And Grow Or Is They Still Gonna Loc Up As Locs In The Crotchet Method.
They don't get hard immediately but I noticed that mines loc'd up faster than before. It's been 3 months since I did the crotchet method and my locs are about 80% loc'd. Most of them are completely hard and loc'd while some still have soft spots.

omg ur so cute..with beautiful hair. Nice video
Thanks love!!!
Can this work on two strand twists?
do you think i can do this to my two strand twist its how i started my starter locs of iam not impatient but i really dont feel like going through the ugly stage
I was wondering the same thing..... I am starting with 2 strand twists and it's been 4 weeks for me, but my hair is definitely locing... GOOD FOR YOU LOOKS GREAT!
Wait if you do this does it mean that you skip the ugly stage and it won't shrink anymore and do you have to do this throughout the years?🤔
Hi hun! This just creates the "look" of locs. They still have to mature with time which means they will still shrink as they become more intertwined. But this is a one time process.
Sade' D. Oh ok thanks
Beautiful where do I buy this tool
U can probably get them at Walmart, craft stores or something similar. I actually got mines from the dollar store.
I wonder if this method would work on relaxed hair?
Jasmina Covington did you try it ive been wondering if it does
Mikiela Howard, I didn't. I just decided to cut my hair and let it grow out and I'm gonna just start them and go from there.
Jasmina Covington It will, because this is the method white ppl use to start their hair. And I practiced on a straight hair wig before I did it on my hair.
what, can I use to get to lock my hair up faster like its starting to get there a Lil I had it like 90days I think its taking a lil long
+Keke Austin You can try spritzing your locs daily with warm water. I did the crotchet method to help mines loc faster.
well done sis!!
Thanks Hun!!!
GIRL! lol u give me hope!
+Asia_Maries Thanks! Have you recently loc'd your hair? Hang in there!
+Sade Douay yes this past Sunday and I'm going to try the method with the crochet stick mos def
Omg this looks amazing 😉 I'm going to try it
I love 😍 you did great I can not wait to learn
I am trying to do this on my hair as I type this. how long did yhe process take you.
Jasmina Covington I can't remember exactly but it was definitely time consuming. Hours and hours
i am on day 3. lol
i finally finish. and I LOVE IT
I'm glad they turned out nice! Happy locing!
That hook is to big you want to use a 0.75mm or smaller I use a 0.5mm the smaller the better. Bigger hooks can damage your dreads
I agree with you...better safe than sorry....locs take time and it would be a bitch to have to cut length
you're absolutely correct
How were your locs started? Gel twist, two strand?
Sherita Mack they look like comb coils
By using this method, did this change how thick your locs turned out?
Mallene Tatum I don't think so. I think that depends on the density of ur hair. It just made them look thicker during the infant stage.
What's the name of the song please. Sounds like G-Eazy.
I found the song. Sorry. You have good taste in music. Love your hair too.
+zelastjoker Thanks! Yes they def have a similar sound. I love both of them
Sade' D. nice awesome taste :)
what is the name of the song?
I'm going to try this... Thanks
Bro do hear logic in the background?Dope tutorial, instant like. #ultimateRespect
My hair is probably half you length. Will it work with my hair?
I would say to try it on a couple of ur locs to see how they look and go from there.
and where can i buy or order this from and whats the price
Did you find it? They have crochet hooks at walmart or local fabric stores.
about to do this
fjimeno13 awesome! Let me know how they turn out!
I needed to see this video. Thank you.
I’m so mad, I’ve been trying to attempt this on my hair with three different crotchet needles for two weeks and it’s not doing anything . Just goes right in and out like water without any result. I have starter Locs and are just about the same length as yours. WHY!?!? I need help :(
Yo need to mines 🤣💯 I been trying too get mines to lock for months 😔
LOVE IT. YOU DID THAT
how many locks do you have ?
Shakiah Lewis I have about 105 hun
Awesome Job!
How do you retwist?
MegaDAli95 I use the palm roll method
Sade' D. Thank you very much! :)
I'm happy for you ✊🏾
Ashez P I appreciate the love!
did you check out Kris Mc dred's site? if not check him out.
i have only had my starter locks for a month is it to soon to do this method
No It's not too early. Some people actually start their locs using this method.
Thank you. How long did you wait to wash them also what do you use to re twist them
very nice..
Thanks love
+Sade' D. make sure you don't palm roll a lot cause it will thin out and break off
So if you do this, will you have to worry about them coming out?
Ziggy Drayton no they don’t come out.
not to discourage you or discredit you at all but this is not healthy for your locks longterm. my first 6 month's were so rough. my dreads had changed so much but its worth it to let them lock on their own. you're dreads are going to change so much until they grow out. you're beautiful! good luck on your journey
Thanks love. Yes, they have def chanced since the start of my journey. I'm in a good place now 😊
Thanks for the Info
I'm glad it was helpful!
what size needle did you use
Kristie Crump I think 6 or 6.5. The smaller the better
Nice but I love the journey too much it's what gave me the true appreciation of my locs
+leah2luv Thanks hun. I can look back now and say I probably could've waited but at the time I just thought they would NEVER change lol.
nice locks gurl
Thanks bro!
very cute!!
Thanks hun!
Hello so I just got my dreads did today and I'm so depressed I don't like this short stage at all no way
could you make another tutorial. i need this video bad
Hi love! I posted a link to a video in the description that explains it a lot better than I did. I hope it helps!
+Sade' D. i saw it. i was just wondering how could i tighten my dreads. im 6 months and they frizzy and not really solid
+Herbert Perkins Well this only helps to get ur locs to look more like locs. It doesn't instantly make them harder. That comes with time bc they still have to mature. I know it seems like it's taking forever but they will mature. Happy locing!
Good video I enjoyed it ALOT More because of Logic
good job
amazing thank you!!
Ur welcome love!
Logic 💯
👌
Super cute. But plz hydrate ur locs with water and oil.
❤️ it
Thanks queen!
Nice
Thanks!
Queria essa habilidade 😍
