I wanted to do this so bad last year, but oranges never went on deal like they normally do around christmas 😢 If you want to save yourself water and time, steam canners are amazing!
I have heard that leaving the membranes on will make the oranges bitter over time in the jars, so I ordered an enzyme to dissolve the membranes. It was like magic and they turned out great!
@@VeronicaC-h9tAt Amazon one is simply called Pectic Enzyme (a 2oz. Jar is only $6.99 and will last a long time because you use very little). Other products are called Pectinex or PectaSol.

Would it be ok to use clementine oranges
I believe they are the same thing
If I only wanted to do one bag of cuties, would I cut the syrup recipe in half?
Yes, you can cut the syrup recipe in half. That should be fine.
How long do they stay good for?
Most canning recipes are good for 18 months on the shelf. Some would argue that their food lasts longer. Hope this helps.
My complete guide to Home Canning says use a 1/2 inch head space.
OK got it then you filled to 1/2 packed to 1 inch..a little confusing.
