I know this video is more catered to Bruins fans. I’m 66 now and Johnny & Fred Cusick on WSBK 38 were the golden years for me. That and Bob Wilson on radio, this trio was the best. That King Clancy interview was priceless.
@@paulcosta4811 we had it so lucky back in those days with the announcer's we had Gino and Gil Ken coleman ned martin amongst others. not fan of any of the boston teams now and can't stand jack edwards appreciate his passion for the game but flat out cant listen to him
@@briandelmore7188 Well said, I feel the same way, Now were Doomed to having to read/listen about how bad Jack Edwards is by novice, whining, millenials, truly makes me sick, they need to grow up, or just shut up.
Johnny Pierson taught me how to score goals in hockey by his color commentary. RIP Johnny Pierson...who brought many a kid of that golden era of Bruins..
the intermission on ch 38 were great with the Peirson pointers Tom Larson breaking down the highlights and mini one on one . So much better then what is on today.
Boy, The King was really revved up...he always liked a hard hitting game with a little knuckles mixed in. Par for the course, he loved his Maple Leafs.
Learn so much about the game and it’s players from this man. He knew the game inside and out and was no “homer”; he appreciate talent no matter what uniform it played for. Being the “color” commentator for Bobby Orr and Don Cherry’s Bruins (and beyond), he made it exciting and educational to watch. Thank You Mr. Pierson and may you Rest in Peace. If he’s not in, he should be in the Hall of Fame for announcing.
@@ProHockeyAlumni -It was a great time to be a kid with Tv38 and Bobby Orr’s Big Bad Bruins. You had to watch the game for fear Orr would do another impossible move that you might miss or Espo wrist shooting goals by the bucketful. My pops even allowed me to watch west coast games! Other than that, bed time was 9:00pm!
Johnny Pierson, what a classy guy. Grew up listening to him and Fred Cusick calling all the games on 38. Great memories. We used to joke about Johnny’s description of a goal no matter how it went in, “That’s right Fred. Top corner, about half way up, right along the ice. You can’t stop what you can’t see.”
This is one of my most treasured segments by one of my absolutely most favorite creators, PHA -- please keep them coming; I love your work, Mr. Willand ! 🙏🏼
Great ending interview with King Clancy! Clancy and Peirson talking about hockey as two gentlemen that KNEW the game. Compare that to the garbage we hear today from the media. Another great video. Thank you for posting this!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍
Wow! What fond memories you brought back with that saying Pierson often used. Like when Orr was on his butt and passed it behind his back to Johnny Buyck who put it behind the Minnesota goaltender. Thank You!
@@davethompson3140 Indeed! Wasn't that Cesare Maniago in the goal? I remember one game where Orr skated up to Maniago after the game and shook his hand because Maniago played so well.
A measure of his greatness; the 71 series game where Boston was up 5-1 and ended up losing 7-5..”Well, you can’t let big Jean Beliveau in to close to many time cause he can put them in the net”. How many color announcers are that honest about opposing player who are killing you in an important game?
Assistant general manager huh well he did get to hang around the gardens a lot I think they gave him the Gordie Howe treatment.. but he was beloved.. he should have gotten better treatment when he coached the leafs..

The interview of King Clancy is awesome!!!!!!
Sad thing is how many modern hockey fans would know who the great King Clancy was to the game?
Boston was so fortunate to have some of the best ever. Bob Wilson and the Chief on the Radio as well.
Awesome👍 loved listening to them in the car

We learned so much from these men. They also made the game exciting through their play by play announcing.
I can't help but watch the smiling kid behind King & Johnny waving at the camera. Good times.
Loved watching Fred and John during their rein in the booth. Tv38 was the best channel. The theme song was epic.
