Hi Milana, to get the full SPF and protection of a sunscreen, it's been advised by professionals to not mix sunscreen with make-up :) It is advised to use the appropriate amount of sunscreen (around 1/4 tsp) onto the face, wait 15 minutes, then apply make-up.
I’m pretty sure she applied a layer of sunscreen first and than instead of just makeup on top, she mixed in some sunscreen with the foundation for extra protection.
You really shouldn’t mix spf with anything. Spf is a complicated science and needs to set up properly on the skin. Even if it didn’t effect the formula you’re gonna have more spf in some areas and less in others, and likely little spots with none at all. It’s just not worth it. Also you should use more to get the labeled spf, it looks like you don’t use very much.
Omg yes EXACTLY! When you mix other things into your spf, it changes the formula and efficacy of it. Which like really defeats the purpose.. and a quarter teaspoon should be enough to cover your face and front of the neck. Not a drop here n there....
I personally feel the thoughts about formula change and efficacy are very pedantic…..if you use the correct amount of sunscreen with your foundation I see no problem at all but each to their own…..
@@kathleencoomans8210 mm ask any dermatologist or chemist and they’ll say the same thing. But feel free to do what you want. Just as long as you know it’s likely affecting your protection.
Hey Milana, Spf shouldn't be mixed with anything and to get the protection labeled on the packaging you should apply about 1/4 tbs/1.25ml (2 milligrams per square cm of skin) just on your face and wait about 15 minutes before applying make up. If you apply for example half you will only have Spf 15 protection if you use Spf 30 or even less depending on how much you applied. Any spf is better than none but it's the best anti aging/skin cancer protection so it would help if you apply the right amount 😊 I'm in Europe and my favorite Spf's to use under make up are Evy Defence Face Mousse Spf50+, Hello Sunday The one that's got it all Spf 50+ primer and Hello Sunday The illuminating one primer spf 50+ for when I want a glowy look. I'm not sure if you can find them there but I totally recommend trying them 🥰 Another recommendations would be the Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen 50 Tinted (fair to light). I use it as a BB cream on top of a more hydrating/glowy spf because it dryes down matte (wait 15 minutes after the base spf before applying). It's a mineral sunscreen and I apply it for extra blue light protection and it's perfect around the eyes because it doesn't sting.
@@loveallthingsdesign i have combo skin, it works for all skin types because it has a more matte finish than most sunscreens and isn’t greasy at all. just a slight glow, great for oily skin
Hi Milana, if they sell the French brand SVR where you live, you should try their ‘Sun Secure Blur spf 50’, so the ‘blur mousse’. It works excellent under your foundation. Especially in the summer if it gets humid, for oily or mixed skin. It also gives your skin a beautiful blurred and even look. I get many compliments from people in stores or restaurants I regularly visit about my skin. It is this sunscreen that is partially responsible for this.
I use the CereVe sunscreen daily under my makeup and alone, and I have never had any issues with it piling or with eye sensitivity. I do have more oily skin and I am over 50.
Yes you really are not supposed to mix anything in with your sunscreen. It can change the efficacy of it and change the formula. It also has to form a film on the skin to reach that labeled SPF and it can’t do that if the formula is compromised by mixing it with foundation or skincare products, so I would just stay away from mixing anything in with your sunscreens… just put the sunscreen on first then apply your base makeup.
Paula's choice was my favorite too when my skin was in better condition and more oily. Now my skin is quite dry and my absolute favorite is Missha BB cream with spf 42. I use it as a foundation because it takes off all my redness and is just gorgeous. Works way better than most foundations.
Aside from the topic of sunscreen, really especially loved your makeup. Both days were nice, but I particularly loved day 2. That lip 💋 in particular was gorgeous 😍
If you are taking the sunscreen down on your neck, you are not using near enough to get the correct coverage. I also am concerned when you are warming it up with your hands, that you are rubbing so much into your hands you are not using it near enough. You need at LEAST 1/4 teaspoon. Chemical sunscreen will make your eyes sting if it gets in or near them.
The unseen sunscreen is the absolute worst under makeup. It’s basically like grease and makes your makeup slide off your face even if you set it with powder.
I was really impressed at how nice you made the CeraVe look. I bought some for my husband when he works outside and he obviously doesn't spend time blending. It makes him so pale he looks scary.🤣
The eye sensitivity is my pet peeve, I can't stand the uncomfortable feeling 😒 the second I wash it off I feel so much relief! Problem is, not many ppl have that issue so you can't relate.. as for La Roche Posay, they have an untinted version, it's light and easy to apply, doesn't cause any sensitivity! I also like clinique light fluid sunscreen, easy, light, gets the job done!
please be careful about physically mixing sunscreen with other skincare and/or makeup products as it needs to form a uniform layer over your skin for optimal sun protection 😅
It's not surprising that your makeup went to crap with the unseen sunscreen.... it looked like you didn't work it into your skin very much when you applied it, compared to the way you applied the other sunscreens. The fenty skin tint n the supergoop are also both pretty silicone heavy, so that probably didn't help with the wear much either.
Good info - thanks! I use a different formula of Paula’s Choice for dry skin and I love it. She makes some great stuff. If I’m not using that, I use Elta. Both work great on my dry, sensitive skin.
I’ve used Elta MD tinted sunscreen for a couple of years. I use the glowy version and love it, but wish there was more shade options. The one you used looked lighter than mine. Did you get to choose the shade?
I think the idea of not mixing your foundation with your sunscreen is not really necessary….if you mix your makeup and sunscreen very well the chances of missing an area are almost nil….and if you use the correct amount of sunscreen mixed with the foundation you have to be getting the correct coverage…..
SuperGoop spf 40 felt like mace or pepper spray in my eyes. The. WORST. I am either an EltaMD mineral without any make up on top or a SCINIC Korean sunscreen girlie all the way.

I would love to see reviews on just tinted sunscreens for no makeup days! If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know! ❤ I’ve been using prescription tretinoin for years and most makeup turns dry and cakey on me.
I use the Paula's Choice super-light SPF30 as my no-makeup tinted moisturizer. It looks good for about 4 to 5 hours, so it's great for running errands or going to the gym. I don't like it as much under makeup. I also tried the Dermatology physical tinted SPF 44 but the tint is too dark for my light to medium skin tone, and the finish is too glowy on my combination skin.
How does it wear on its own throughout the day? I’ve been looking for a tinted one I can wear without makeup over it. Maybe just a bit of powder to help it set.
@@breannacaldwell4181 I use the uv clear, as the tinted is a little too warm for my complexion. It's a sheer coverage, but I have noticed that even with the uv clear, I use less foundation.
