something i love about jasmine is how real she is. how she makes it clear that you have to take care of yourself and its ok to not be ok all of the time. as someone that has watched her for the last 3 years or so, she has helped me so much. love from england!
College is a great place to explore what you want to do but just know that what you major in at college / what you get involved in doesnt define your career trajectory!! Speaking from someone who has graduated from undergrad and have many friends in the corporate world, you can always switch paths so dont think that what you choose to do is a defining moment for the rest of your life!!! Just thought that could maybe appease some anxiety and stuff for anyone :)
Yes!! This is what I was going to say as well. It’s a very common experience to get to college and not know what you want to do. Don’t worry!! Life isn’t a race, you have time to figure it out.
I mean, Dr. Fauci was a classics major (with pre-med track on the side), and now he’s the biggest infectious disease expert in the US. Majors give you training in different skills, but how you apply those skills defines your career. And skills can be applied in A LOT of ways. Follow what skills and things you want to learn, and you’ll find what you want to do with them!
it’s really strange to me (as someone from england) that you go to college in the US not knowing what you’re going to study? it seems more like how GCSEs and high school are for us where you study a bit of everything and then choose a subject at the end whereas we choose one subject for university and study it in depth to get a degree in it! really interesting to see this different approach
haha yeah, i like the liberal arts model bc i get to take a bunch of subjects but there is also a level of freedom in already being committed like you are in the UK!
The idea of committing to a career at 18 years old is crazy to me. I dont know how they can expect kids to know what they want to do with the rest of their lives.
In Argentina is the same. You have to choose a career. You can then switch, but you might need to start all over again if there are no common subjects. That's why we have so many drop-outs.
@@carolynbennett5102 In Italy you kinda choose what you want to do at 14 when you choose which kind of high school you want to go to. There are different kinds of high schools that specialize in different subjects or fields. Obviously you can change your mind and choose a completely different path once you finish high school but it might be harder for you to succeed (because you spent the last five years focusing on something else)
I dropped out of uni, got a trade, made some money, worked my way up in that, and am now going back to uni for a field I'm actually passionate about. I think there's way too much of a push for kids your age to just know what they want as a job with zero experience in the job market, and spend thousands in the process
As a therapist, love your take on going to therapy!! Thank you for sending that message to other young people/people who have heard messages that therapy is a weakness or shameful in some way. You are a gem!
"look for the solution instead of getting mad at yourself for causing a problem" i wrote this down because i really need to remind myself nothing is my fault, and the past isn't time missed or wasted, thank for the mental health chat
Yeah that’s great but “nothing is my fault” is not the best approach you can have in life. Sometimes you do have to acknowledge your mistakes and fix them, especially if the mistake hurt other people.
This honestly really brightened my day! I was in a bad mood this morning, but I decided to watch some youtube while filling out next week's spread in my bullet journal
Jasmin: If you’re a high achieving student you probably have mental health issues My straight A’s: listen bro, we didn’t want to cause any trouble around here My negative coping habits of numbing (with food), switching, bottling up, and denial: I don’t wanna talk about it ok....
I cannot thank you enough for portraying the sludge of being isolated from everyone else whilst learning and the process of destigmatising therapy for yourself. I'm a yr 13 student (high school senior) and I've just been feeling in the dumps because of the uncrtainty with my education and the strain of having to work and pretend that there isn't a whole pandemic going on but this vlog honestly cheers me up and makes me feel secure. Thank you😁
Jasmine, you are such a mature and knowledgeable person and I respect that so much. You are going to go so far in life. I hope that whenever you start to doubt yourself, you know that we all love you and all that you bring to us!
i had subscribed on this channel randomly on some day earlier and today, when i was extremely exhausted because of the way-to-much-stuff-to-do, i decided to watch this video to relax. and what i want to say is thank you! you are so sincere and real that after watching the video it felt like i talked to my best friend. you made my day!
I actually recently realized that I also have this mindset that I have to constantly be working//be productive and I was just about to start on more assignments when I took a break to watch this video, and you actually reminded me that I need a break haha,,,, I never really took notice to this habit until I began watching your videos, so thank you Jasmine!! Now I’m just taking the rest of the night easy and resting :’))
Thanks for speaking about mental health!! I think a lot of people aren't aware of what putting yourself under so much pressure does to you in the long run ! Its great you are getting help❤
Hahahaha somehow her “I will laze around then do work” is still more productive then my whole week. Send help- also love the video! The Friday transition was just 👌✨

this video is so cute. i never comment on anything but your videos genuinely brighten my day. you make fantastic content jasmine! keep up the great work :)
love seeing this perfectly imperfect image of jasmine where there isn't as much pressure to be ✨aesthetic ✨ compared to her studying/bujo side, it's weirdly relaxing! - from a fellow college freshman currently doing her environmental science notes ♡
thanks for all the work and effort and SACRIFICE you give to make quarantine better for everyone jasmine! whether that be content for us, or being careful and cautious when going out of your dorm. plus i love the shade in your title ;)

(and just wanted to add, as a native french speaker that the article for the word "fin" is la and not le, but lol I kinda feel bad correcting you because I probably made a mistake while writing) thank you for being so genuine and relatable.
I feel you, dude! I can never get used to the LA weather. I'm out here in shorts and a t-shirt while everyone else is showing off their puffer jackets for the winter.
thanks for sharing positivity and lowering stigma on therapy!! it is truly wonderful and everyone would benefit from therapy in my opinion, as preventative or as a helpful tool in organizing ones head!
Jasmine, you look so happy and healthy in this video! You are inspiring, especially to other students that feel the pressure to succeed and be perfect. Also, exquisite taste in music 💕
