We have a 28" F/4.1 that can be moved in a mini-van or trailer. It can be setup in half an hour to be used. It is pointed it using Celestron's StarSense Explorer app and my old iPhone 6s. We have an innumerable list of objects to pick from...Brett @ Bluewater Astronomy...Ontario Canada
With that focal ratio you must have an excellent pointing model. Do/did you use a guide camera for long exposure spectroscopy? I have always wanted to use a telescope with a Coude focus, but spectroscopy isn't my expertise.
Polar alignment would be spot on and computer controlled pointing would be needed. Maybe they use T Point Software modelling or similar to create a pointing model
F47 !!!! That's narrow and useless for observation or photography. But he does explain it is used to study individual star Spectra. would be good on planets though !!!!
Great video! The presenter's passion and excitement is infectious!
Very nice presentation, thank you. Fascinating something built so long ago with such precision is still in use today! :)
I so want to see this beast!
What a beautiful piece of equipment.
Makes me wonder what kind of technology we possess today when they had such an advanced telescope back then. Insane!
Space telescopes at solar orbit
Nice to see a Telrad sat on this beauty!
Fascinating to watch. Thanks
I love this.

I wish I had that on my backyard
Why do these massive observatory telescope videos never come with a live view through the eyepiece? And rarely any images taken with them either?
That's not what they're designed for.
@@mattpike7268 then what are they designed for??
For stellar spectroscopy.
So the focal length is 35814mm?
By my calculations... YUP!

As an American, it's the sniper rifle of telescopes.
1:20 what is the point of talking about a telescope (finder) when he is standing IN FRONT of it blocking our view of it?! Kinda stupid.
What bit of it did you miss exactly and how did it ruin the video and description ?
What? No comments? Sad.
