this is the most information i got out of a video on how to target kob. i had all the knowledge on traces and baits but never what type of area kob like to feed and what formation to look for this video was alot of help.maybe make more videos like this on some non edibles and also your edibles like your steenbras. everybody else shows you the traces, baits, and tackle but they dont show you the formation you need to look for to target certain species. i would like to congratulate you on this video cause it has the main things you need to know. keep up the good work and wish you well on your fishing when the lockdown is over. stay safe.
Great video, thank you. I am watching this in Japan. I used to fish in Durban and surrounds. Back in the 90s I remember catching one of these in La Mercy near the mouth. It was 4, 95 kg and I was thrilled. I never saw any close to the size you guys caught. I never knew how to read the water re sand bands etc. Thank you. Very educational.
Hi Franna, what an informative clip!!!! Thanks for all the info and secrets to read the water, that really helps us valies, and maybe that can increase our hook up ratio. I must commend you on being such a good ambassador for our beloved sport and to see you enjoying every catch even when I client lands a good fish, always laughing, teaching and just appreciating the moment, is real inspiring. Keep it coming, this video was an awesome way to end a sh@*y day of lockdown!! Would really like to book a trip with you. stay clean, stay safe. Tight lines & screaming reels.
🙌🙌👊🏻awesome brother! I’m mid north coast Oz. Chasing Mulloway early morning off the rocks with big slow rattling lures. Landed a little 7.5kg beauty yesterday morning. Finally!😁🤦🏼♂️ Love to hear your take on season, temperatures, tide, time of day and weather conditions.👍
This is why your ability to cast well and place your casts where you need them to be, is VITAL. It's like everything, it takes practice. The water looked good for flatties too. Great footage and catches.
Great vid Franna and fantastic info on beach reading. Thanks for sharing. Whilst you're in lockdown, how about a vid running through your tackle box set up.
Thankyou franna! I subed today! We live in windhoek namibia and visit our cost often! Cant wait to try some of your tips! Its so seldom you get guys to share their tips.
Thanks alot for this video Franna, what I have been looking for. Know the baits and tackle but couldn't read the water. This video helped alot. Keep up the good work. You're a legend brother.
Hey Franna, thanks very much for the information and video. Noticed you haven’t put any new content out for 2 years. I hope you are ok? And will you be making a return on this channel or another? Cheers 🤙
Loved the video.. Caught a 19kg Kob in the Breede in Feb this year but have always wanted to target big ones in the surf like this. Would pay top dollar to learn from you
Kan jy asseblief nog videos maak oor steenbras en mosselkraker - al gesels jy net soos oor waar om te gooi en hoe die water moet lyk, tackle om te gebruik en so. Sal awesome wees !!
Thanks Franna for the free psychotherapy during lockdown. Dreaming of travelling down from KZN and getting back to Woody Cape where I met you and Duncan a few months ago hooking a nice steenbras. I agree with other comments in terms of your positive attitude and the usefulness of the tips, especially in this video. Tight lines!
This was a really interesting video. I just had a question about when you were talking about how they are lazy fish and sit in areas with less current. does this apply to when fishing at night? Or do they move around under the cover of darkness. Also do you think slidebaiting is the best option when fishing with live baits
AWESOME video! Still waiting to catch my first kob monster here in Swakopmund where I stay...Fish numbers are truly down. They are very scarce these days.
Awesome content and great tips. I just moved from gauteng to cape st francis and went from bass to saltwater fish and moer dit is moeilik! If you are ever in st francis I would love to fish with you.
I’ve watched this a couple of times now over the last few weeks. It’s a great video. I’m just curious though, what is the tell tale sign of the area with the least amount of current? I try and watch the white water foam that gets left on the surface to see if it’s getting pulled in a sideways direction, but not sure how reliable that is? What are other features of a good beach structure for Kob? Like do they prefer gutters with access from both sides? If there is anything glaringly obvious that I’m not asking, that I should ask, I’m all ears hehehe
Heyy franna really like ur videos its very informative thanks for all da help it really made a huge difference in our success rate...ii have a small request can uu make a similar video on how to read the surf and find garrick
Lekker Franna great video! I love catching kabeljou, my friend and I catch then on live bait usually but have had no luck with paddletail or spoons in the surf. I will take your advice and try to look for the sand bank and also buy a rapala similar to yours. What is the weight of yours and what is the depth that it swims so that I know what to buy? I really hope we can all fish next month again, tight lines!
Hey Franna. Next video asseblief. Stuck op in Afrika ever since lockdown. Nou al jou videos gekyk en al die wat jy saam ander manne gemaak het. Perfect spots wat julle daar het en dankie vir al die great videos. “Stywe lyne”. Kan nie wag vir jou volgende video nie. 👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Franna. Great soos altyd.

Morning Franna, Awesome clip to keep us sane during lockdown. Quick question on the slide you used. Was that on nylon or braid? I thought that sliding on braid was a problem since the slide could easily tangle the line. Many thanks Mike in EL

Hi Franna from Australia, great videos! What is your preferred tide and time of day for catching Cob? Roger
In my opinion it will be a spring low tide and then you fish the pushing tide. Kob like smaller swells, as they are very lazy when lying on the banks.
Hope this helps you out Roger👌🏻
Jared Miles thanks Jared, I value your feedback. Do you have a preference for time of day or do you just focus on tide? Roger
Hi franna, please could you explain the difference between a Silver Kob and a Dusky kob, I always get confused between the two
And also the sizes you get from each species
